Carey Mulligan In Balenciaga – 2015 Met Gala

Carey Mulligan In Balenciaga - 2015 Met Gala

Carey Mulligan attended the ‘China: Through the Looking Glass’ 2015 Met Gala red carpet hosted at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on Monday (May 4).

Like Lady Gaga, the actress wore a custom Balenciaga design although hers couldn’t have been more different.

Significantly more restrained, the high-low gown featured a quiet elegance that was topped off by an embellished collar piece.

A vampy oxblood lip and messy bun completed the look that was perfectly in line with Carey’s simple, fuss-free style. Yet it was exactly that reason that it failed to excite like some of the other looks of the evening.

Rita Ora In Tom Ford – 2015 Met Gala

Rita Ora In Tom Ford - 2015 Met Gala

Rita Ora was the consummate lady in red at the ‘China: Through the Looking Glass’ 2015 Met Gala held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on Monday (May 4).

Donning a custom Tom Ford satin dress, the British songstress showed a refined—and somewhat surprising—measure of restraint in this entrance.

It was designed in the way of a Cheongsam gown with a high neckline and cinched waist, which she wore elegantly.

However, it was her striking beauty look that caught my attention, with her sculpted platinum ’do, perfect brow and red lip putting a dynamic edge on the dress.

Olivia Wilde In Prada – 2015 Met Gala

Olivia Wilde In Prada - 2015 Met Gala

Olivia Wilde was accompanied by her beau Jason Sudeikis to the 2015 Met Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City tonight (May 4).

For the affair, Olivia wore a bright pink Prada gown with intricate beading and equally as dazzling jewel-encrusted gloves and Prada clutch. Solange Azagury-Partridge earrings are the only additional accouterments.

While there is a whole lot of beading on this look, I really love how well it all works together. Rather than competing for attention, it works together to offer one complete, bold, eye-catching look.

I also absolutely love Olivia’s headwrap, and think it’s a great addition to the look, and her bold smokey eye leaves me giving the complete package a big thumbs up.

Zoë Kravitz In Alexander Wang – 2015 Met Gala

Zoë Kravitz was also at the ‘China: Through the Looking Glass’ 2015 Met Gala red carpet hosted at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on Monday (May 4).

Going the route of a glam Chinese warrior, the actress stunned in an Alexander Wang Fall 2015 sheer gown that served up plenty of attitude.

I actually love the modification of the runway design into a full gown to create a slinky, liquid chainmail effect.

Keeping her accessories to a minimum, she simply piled on the rings to go with that nose ring thus completing her signature edgy styling.

Reese Witherspoon In Jason Wu – 2015 Met Gala

Reese Witherspoon In Jason Wu - 2015 Met Gala

Reese Witherspoon was one of many stars to go for a red look at the 2015 Met Gala at New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art tonight (May 4).

The star wore a structured red Jason Wu custom gown with strappy red sandals and a metallic box clutch. Her jewels were also stunning and on point.

If there is one thing I hate, it’s being disappointed by Reese. The dress is fabulous. And she totally should have worn it during her current film tour, but for tonight? Where’s the drama? Where is the theme? It just isn’t Met Gala to me.

Her center-parted hair and bronzed and smokey makeup are totally gorgeous, and are the perfect pairing with the look.
