Sophie Ellis-Bextor charmed in her Elie Saab Fall 2009 black embellished dress by adding a true signature Lulu Guinness hot red lips clutch.

I love the racy red strappy heels.  Some would have stuck to safe black.

On any other week she may have been up for BDOTW.

What a way to show off your post-baby body.

Kimora Lee Simmons used to make some questionable choices on the red carpet, but since dating Djimon Hounsou she appears to have left her ghetto fabulousness behind, and is giving us pure Fabulosity - to borrow her term.

She looks stunning in a Jenny Packham shimmering gold plunging gown which show off her twins, or as Teresa Giudice from “The Housewives of New Jersey” would call them “boobies”.

I think it must be ‘Cheryl Cole Appreciation Day’ today, because firstly Beyonce Knowles wore a similar David Koma dress to the X Factor judge.

Now Kimora is wearing the same Jenny Packham Fall 2010 Bridal jeweled hair accessory which Cheryl wore on week 3 of the X Factor with her Atelier Versace white gown.

Who would have thought little Cheryl Cole was just a trend-setter.

This satin Dolce & Gabbana mermaid gown keeps popping up on the red carpet like the Dolce & Gabbana tulle gowns.

Eva Herzigova opted to wear her green version off-the-shoulder.

Unfortunately the gown sits too low for my liking.

Rihanna, Rosario Dawson and Caterina Murino have all worn this same gown.

Elizabeth Hurley is usually wears knee-length dresses or thigh-high split gowns, so this fruity tangerine above-the-knee dress is a refreshing change.

She pairs her dress with Jimmy Choo gold heels and a matching clutch.

Pixie Lott looked adorable wearing a Gucci Fall 2009 black and silver dress, with black feathered detail on the shoulders.

She opted out of the runway belt, which actually works much better for her.

Surprisingly I don’t mind the tights here.

It’s been a very long while since we last saw Corinne Bailey Rae on the red carpet - February 2008 to be precise.

She’s bounced back from her grief to return to the red carpet looking sensational wearing a black and forest green striped Moschino Cheap & Chic Fall 2009 dress with black ankle strapped heels.

I love the dress, but I’m so jealous of her hair.

I wish mine would blow-out like that.

I’m not a Lily Allen fan by any stretch of the imagination, but I do love the new shag.

I’m going to the hair salon later today, so I may take this picture along for inspirational.

I also like Lily’s simple look in which she wore a long-sleeved ivory beaded dress with black leggings.

She completed her look with YSL sculpted platform pumps.

Sophie Ellis Bextor and her husband Richard Jones walked the red carpet together, as they often do.

Sophie wore a black Dolce & Gabbana velvet and satin dress with voluminous shoulders which we’ve seen on the red carpet before.

She completed her look with Christian Louboutin Eugenie heels and a snake-print clutch.

As always Sophie oozes class and sophistication.

I can deal with Fearne Cotton’s Olivia Rubin embroidered tulip peplum dress, but her leopard print ankle boots are just hideous.

Amy Winehouse attended with her god-daughter Dionne Bromfield.

Amy seemed to be in good spirits showing her new…pink Preen dress.

My…hasn’t she grown since being out of the spotlight.

Lulu Guinness wasn’t about to be upstage by any celebrities last night. She stood out at this event celebrating her labels 20 year anniversary, wearing a vibrant purple Giles Deacon dress, with a tulle trim on the hem of skirt, and two eyes on the bodice.

The designer posed with her famous her red lips clutch to make a cute face, which was a very nice touch.

Katy Perry, who has carried a Lulu Guinness clutch to many red carpet events, was surprisingly clutchless at this event.

Lulu has a sun blush snakeskin clutch which would have worked well with her orange and grey ensemble.

Victoria Hesketh aka Little Boots, opted for a McQ Alexander McQueen feather print shift dress, which she wore with Alexander McQueen heels.

Model Jade Parfitt opted for a black Louis Vuitton Spring 2009 dress, which has previously been worn by Kate Hudson.

Between the boots and the tights, I really dislike this look.

Sophie Ellis-Bextor and her partner colour co-ordinated his tie, with her skirt, to show what a fashion conscious couple they really are.

Model of the Year winner, Jourdan Dunn strikes a pose wearing a gorgeous Stella McCartney white strapless mini dress, with embroidered detail on the bodice. She wore her dress with thick black tights and studded heels.

The model beat Agyness Deyn and Lily Donaldson to this deserved title.

Alexa Chung teamed her boho Future Classics Spring 2009 babydoll with ankle boots, a skinny scarf and a Mulberry for Giles black patent clutch.

Alexa looks fab in this “I just threw it on” look.

Erin O’Connor, as you would expect, is beautifully dramatic wearing a black Vivienne Westwood taffeta gown, with at snake-skin tuxedo jacket from Topshop.

She completed her look with a black hat.

Oh how very British.

Pixie Geldof wore a grey woolly mammoth Mulberry Fall 2008 jacket over her black tuxedo jacket, chain-mail top and black leggings.

I really like this look, as it is very much her own, and she is not trying to be anyone else.

Rosamund Pike’s velvet blue cropped jacket really brings life to her navy Roksanda Ilincic dress with a rosette detail.

Sophie Ellis-Bextor teams her Chanel purse with a black Topshop dress, white tights and Mary Janes.

The singer is doing so well to conceal her baby bump.

Twiggy arrived on the red carpet with her daughter Laura.

The model icon wore a Stella McCartney Pre-Fall 2008 sequined dress, with purple tights and a black tuxedo jacket.

We have seen Twiggy wear this dress many times before, but when she looks this great in it, who cares?

Yasmin Le Bon drapes a - hopefully faux fur - jacket over her shoulder, so we can see her burnt orange Halston Fall 2008 halter gown.

Emilia Fox as always is chic perfection, wearing a black dress with a black overlay and lace details on the hem.

I am not diggin’ Tamara Mellon’s bangs, but I do love her sequined coat, which she wears over her LBD. Her accessories are of course Jimmy Choo.

Is there a man fashion designer L’Wren Scott does not tower over? At 6ft 4in, and more in heels. I guess not.

The chic designer of course wore her own designs, opting for a body-contouring Fall 2008 metallic and lace dress, with a feathered hat to match.

Designer of the Year Luella Bartley, wore a purple cropped blazer and an asymmetric skirt with lace details from her own Spring 2009 collection.

TV presenter Mariella Frostrup wore this beautiful dark purple L’Wren Scott Fall 2008 shift dress with a embellished necklace.

She complimented her dress with gold peep-toes.

Claudia Schiffer wore a Forest green RM by Roland Mouret Anvers dress, with black pumps.

If it weren’t for the hat, I would not have recognised Roisin Murphy, who is posing here with Accessory Designer of the Year winner Rupert Sanderson.

That is because the singer usually wears something so cutting edge and loud, you can’t help but admire her.

This for Roisin is safe, and tame.

Model Jade Parfitt wears one of my favourite dresses from the Giles Fall 2008 collection. The dress was presented in black, but I much prefer this red version.

I just wish she had worn different shoes though.

Katie Grand, former editor of the hugely influential Pop magazine arrived with Giles Deacon wearing his Giles Spring 2009 space age silver front zipped pants, with a black top and a boa, which was also presented with most of the pieces from Giles Spring 2009 collection.

She is carrying the Prada sequin ombre clutch that is currently top of my wish list.

The winners were:

Designer of the Year:
Luella Bartley
Outstanding Achievement in Fashion Design: Stephen Jones
Accessory Designer: Rupert Sanderson
Menswear Designer: Christopher Bailey for Burberry
Model of the Year: Jourdan Dunn
Red Carpet Designer: Matthew Williamson
Special Award for Bespoke: Richard James
Isabella Blow Award for Fashion Creator: Tim Walker
Designer Brand: Jimmy Choo
Swarovski Emerging Talent Award Accessories: Nicholas Kirkwood
Swarovski Emerging Talent Award Ready-to-Wear: Louise Goldin

Alicia Keys was definitely the bell of this ball tonight, wearing a lilac strapless column Moschino gown, with a stand out pink Zufi Alexander clutch.

She is beyond gorgeous here.

This is another good effort by Solange Knowles. She wore a light grey Jenny Packham Fall 2008 mini dress, which had ruffles, feathers and a sheer panel.

But she really lets herself down with the black pumps. Silver strappy sandals would have been my preference here.

The hands by the face pose, is very Beyonce at the EMAs, don’t cha think?

Estelle always shows supports for London based designers.

The British R&B queen walked the red carper wearing an electric blue Ashley Isham Spring 2009 one shouldered draped dress, with burgundy platforms.

Anastacia went for something cute and playful Marc by Marc Jacobs Torn print prom dress, which very much suits her shorter ‘do.

The belted dress has a pleated bodice, tulle skirt with drape and gathered detail. This really was a great choice, but I would have loved to have seen her in a gown.

Sophie Ellis-Bextor also opted for a London based designer, wearing a lime green Temperley London Elfin tunic dress with a black trim, which delicately concealed her baby bump.

The gorgeous dress had a beaded lace detail at ballerina neckline, and cap sleeves. She completed her look with nude pumps, but I was not crazy about her choice of carrying a bright pink clutch.

Michelle Williams is gorgeous in this emerald green chiffon Malandrino Fall 2008 dress with rock beaded neckline.

I am really preferring the shorter hairstyle.

Model and girlfriend of Mark Ronson, Daisy Lowe attended the Tim Walker/Vogue Launch Party at the Design Museum in London, early May wearing a PPQ Fall 2008 prom-esqe polka dot dress with a bubble-hem.

She wore her dress with gold strappy sandals, a grey bag and her hair styled very Audrey Hepburn-like, in an updo.

Sophie Ellis Bextor attended the London 2012 Olympic Handover Party on The Mall last week, in which she performed wearing the same dress with Louboutin heels.

For a long time I very much associated Daisy with this dress, because it very much represents her style. But I think Sophie looks far better, so she wins this for me.

It’s the shoes and her hairstyle, that make the difference.
