Stella McCartney Resort 2013 Presentation

Many designers simply shoot a straightforward lookbook for their Resort collections, so Stella McCartney took the opportunity to throw the perfect summertime garden party, held in New York City on Monday afternoon.

Fashion journalists and buyers mingled with celebrities at the fun-filled fête, enjoying nostalgic summer festivities including boardwalk games, croquet, caramel apples and even a classic lemonade stand.

Solange Knowles brought her son, Daniel Julez Smith, jr., along for the fun and fashion. The youngster represented his mum’s favourite colour, yellow.

The DJ wore a paisley-print Stella McCartney Spring 2012 dress with black strappy sandals, a black clutch plus an chain accented armlet.

Anne Hathaway also joined in the fun. Showcasing her new pixie cut the actress wore a chic ivory suit and rocker t-shirt. She accessorized with nude pumps, an orange necklace, a black clutch and black Ray-Ban ‘Legend Collection Wayfarer’ sunglasses.

Bono was the unexpected guest attending Stella’s Resort 2012 party, but this year it was Jim Carrey who took over the ‘surprise guest’ role on Monday.

Despite the star-studded scene, all eyes were on the models floating around the garden showing off Stella McCartney’s Resort 2013 collection.

The collection includes the perfectly tailored silhouettes that we’ve come to expect from Stella, in an array of colours, including cornflower blue, marigold yellow and a dreamy coral.

Lace summer dresses,  leopard print pieces provide a youthful touch to the collection, alongside vintage-inspired plaid and sunny florals.

Accessories include neon espadrilles, faux leather sandals, bags and metallic clutches.

Solange Knowles Loves…Yellow

Following Solange Knowles’ yellow Marni dress which she wore to the CFDA Fashion Awards we noticed something. Solange loves to wear yellow on the red carpet.

It takes a brave woman to wear head-to-toe yellow, and Solange is just that woman.

The DJ knows how to stand out in a crowd, infusing the vibrant colour into her signature style.

Solange has been lighting up the red carpet with her bright yellow sartorial choices, whether it’s a perfectly tailored blazer or a dramatic peplum gown.

The bright colour perfectly offsets the star’s gorgeous features, making her almond eyes pop and smooth skin glow.

To make yellow as versatile as basic black, takes cues from the fashion-forward DJ by incorporating the sunny hue with your favourite wardrobe staples.

If you’re not quite ready to don a floor-length gown quite yet, steal a look from Solange and try a tailored blazer or a summery cocktail dress.

Giving any outfit a fun pop of colour, Solange always manages to also incorporate her signature colour with some bright accessories.

Try a chic belt to offset a colour-blocked ensemble, or add brilliant pumps to an otherwise conservative outfit.

Solange Knowles In Marni – 2012 CFDA Fashion Awards

Solange Knowles was a burst of bright colour on the red carpet at the 2012 CFDA Fashion Awards, held at the Alice Tully Hall in New York City yesterday evening.

Not one to shy away from a bold hue, Solange stood out in a white-and-yellow Marni Spring 2012 dress.

From a distance, the v-neck shift looks like a classic tweed, but the patterned dress is actually created by large paillettes.

Adding a funky touch, Solange accessorizes with a bold patterned Marni clutch and knit Missoni sandals with clear straps and a cylindrical heel.

Her signature fro and bronzed makeup complete the look.

Beauty Trend Spotting: Red Carpet Curls

Summer is here and with it comes a more relaxed get-up-go approach to hair.

So it looks like we’re waving goodbye to the ironed-flat Brazilian Blow-out and relaxers and saying “Hello curls”, or in Halle’s words, “This is what you call wash-and-wear beach hair. It’s ready to go!”

Singers Brandy Norwood and Solange Knowles have also gone for grown-out bouncy curls recently, but whether your ringlets are real or have been given a helping hand with a curling iron or hair extensions, the secret is a great conditioner according to stylist Oscar James, whose clients include Tyra Banks, Vanessa Williams, Halle Berry, Iman and Beyonce.

‘It’s paramount that you start with deep conditioner always,’ he says. ‘Deep conditioning means healthy hair.’

* Here are Oscar’s tips for a great head of curls:

* Shampoo the hair, give it a great conditioner and use heat on it.

* Then rinse and blow it dry. I don’t really use a product before blowing out because when you put heat on a product, hair tends to look oily.

* Use a quarter-size iron to curl all around in no real pattern, and curl it haphazardly to get free-form curls in all directions.

* Finish with a holding spray and a little pomade to give shine and texture and help the curls stay where you put them.

Solange Knowles In Flaminia Saccucci – 2012 MoMA Party In The Garden Benefit

Solange Knowles attended the 2012 MoMA Party In The Garden Benefit in New York City last night where she was the guest DJ.

The star is known for championing fresh young talent and on this occasion she wore a look by Central Saint Martin’s graduate Flaminia Saccucci.

She almost wore the full runway look which consisted of a green floral blazer, white blouse, and what appears to be half knickerbocker, half culottes situation.

Solange opted out of wearing the yellow-and-black tyre-track leggings – thankfully.

A gold-and-ivory clutch, gold Cartier jewels and nude Casadei pumps accessorized her look with the finishing touches including her trademark ‘fro and a hot-red lip colour.
