Solange Knowles graces the cover for ‘Lucky’ magazine’s August 2014 issue wearing a mix of summer hues whilst sporting gorgeous natural locks.

The rest of her editorial is equally colourful, seeing her wearing pieces from Alexander Wang and Kenzo, plus super-chic shades from Karen Walker, solidifying her fashionista status.

Despite ‘Lucky’ being a fashion magazine, they of course had to bring up the elevator fracas with brother-in-law Jay Z, but Solange Knowles insists things are fine between her and her sister Beyonce.

Here are some extracts from her interview.

On the elevator fight: ‘What’s important is that my family and I are all good. What we had to say collectively was in the statement that we put out, and we all feel at peace with that.[...] We’ve always held each other down no matter what. That’s something I’m drilling into Julez now.”

On touring with Destiny’s Child: ‘I had no idea how to dance hip-hop at the time. I was trained in classical ballet. But it sounded chill and I was going to make a little weekly check and be with my whole family, so I said okay. I loved traveling. We were in Europe for a month, and that’s when my musical eyes opened up. There, Björk was on pop radio. She wasn’t some obscure underground thing like she was in America.’

On her injury which forced her to take a year off from dancing: ‘Dance had been my everything since I was a little girl and all of a sudden I couldn’t do it. Some beautiful things came out of that year but also some painful things. I started writing songs because I had all of these emotions that were so real.’

On sharing her music with Kelly Rowland first but being too nervous to tell her parents: ‘Kelly’s like a sister. When I let her hear my music, she said, “I want you to write for my album.” That gave me a lot of confidence.’

On why she decided to move to New Orleans: ‘I lived in New York and L.A. and they were different worlds I learned to navigate. Fashion and music have so many elements I’m connected to, but they also have parts that I’m not so interested in. I can step in and step out of those worlds. Being in New Orleans gives me space.’

On how she keeps it together: ‘I think about all of those phases that I went through and the ridicule and whatever that I experienced. And I can’t think of one time where I ever felt like I was going to break. That’s because I had confidence instilled in me by my parents. They didn’t always like it—in fact, most of the time they didn’t—but they never asked me to change.’

Gucci Cosmetics Launch

Gucci hosted yet another event this week, this time to celebrate the launch of its long-awaited makeup line, Gucci Cosmetics.

The event was hosted at The Carlyle Hotel in New York City on Wednesday (4 June) by Gucci’s Creative Director Frida Giannini in honour of Charlotte Casiraghi, who is the face of the brand.

Charlotte Casiraghi: The woman of the hour donned a pale-blue Gucci Fall 2014 dress with a leather bodice, which was originally presented in mustard. Keeping the look clean and simple, she added silver Gucci sandals.

Frida Giannini: Needless to say, I’m salivating over Frida’s Gucci black jumpsuit. The off-runway piece incorporates the bejewelled bib and leather collar we saw on the Fall 2014 runway.

Solange Knowles: The singer/DJ attended her third event in so many days. Standing out in a hot-pink Gucci Pre-Fall 2014 suit, she added a sea-blue clutch and gold Stuart Weitzman ‘Nudist’ sandals to her look.

Solange Knowles In Gucci - Chime for Change One-Year Anniversary Event

Solange Knowles attended an event to celebrate the one-year anniversary of Chime for Change hosted by Gucci Creative Director Frida Giannini at the Gucci Fifth Avenue boutique on Tuesday (June 3) in New York City, alongside Blake Lively and sister Beyonce Knowles.

Still working super-wavy locks, the singer, who DJ’ed at the event, wore a ’70s-inspired look from Gucci’s Pre-Fall 2014 collection.

This orange silk split-sleeve blouse and cream wool wide-leg trousers look is my favourite of the trio.

I love the glam yet laidback vibe: the neutral makeup, gold accessories and nude Gucci sandals.

Solange Knowles In Calvin Klein Collection - 2014 CFDA Fashion Awards

Solange Knowles attended the 2014 CFDA Fashion Awards held at Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center on Monday (June 2) in New York City.

Her Met Gala look was somewhat of a disappointment, so I was delighted to see a return to glamour here.

The singer channelled her inner Diana Ross, working a voluminous ‘fro, donning a luscious custom Calvin Klein Collection embellished pewter silk dress.

While her gown is more like something big sis Beyonce would wear, this look serves as a refreshing change of pace.

Punctuated by a frosty-pink lip and styled with Jennifer Fisher jewels and a silver box clutch, Solange looked stunning from head to toe.

Sophia Bush In Cushnie Et Ochs - 2014 NBC Upfront PresentationSophia Bush was also at the 2014 NBC Upfront Presentation at The Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City on Monday (May 12), where she likely held court with Anne Heche and Krysten Ritter.

The actress cut a sleek profile in a dove-grey Cushnie et Ochs Spring 2014 dress.

While the label’s familiar body-con silhouette was still very much in play, the signature cutouts were replaced by an off-the-shoulder draped detail.

She enhanced the frock with Jacob & Co. jewels, including an on-trend hand bracelet and a dynamic pair of green gemstone and pearl earrings, along with a pearl-studded pair of Rene Caovilla sandals and a reflective Rauwolf clutch.

One embellished accessory too many, or just right?
