Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Leighton Meester wasn’t the only one wearing Alexander McQueen Resort 2012 to the 2011 Toronto Film Festival yesterday.

Salma Hayek donned Look 1 for her “Americano” Premiere.

You often have a very strong negative reaction to Salma in McQueen, so I would be very interested to hear your thoughts (as always) on this look.

Her military inspired tan dress is accented with a large leather belt and a stunning gold embroidered bodice.

I may have been able to get on board with this look had she opted for a simple tight ponytail.

A half up, half down hairstyle and McQueen doesn’t gel too well for me.

The actress added gold pumps and a gold McQueen clutch to complete her look.

Does Salma get a yay or nay from you?

Salma Hayek was the belle of the ball at the 2011 Gucci Award For Women In Cinema event on Friday night in Venice.

The Mexican beauty opted for a Gucci Première gown.

We only see looks from the Gucci Première collection during European Film Festival, but the collection very much epitomizes the glamorous occasion.

A lot of work went into her smoky grey organza single strap gown.

It has a beautiful crystallized detailed on the bodice and a full skirt embellished with grey feathers and crystals.

It’s a big gown, but the petite diva manages to pull it off.

A matching Gucci satin clutch, smoky eyes and an uber chic updo completed her look.

Salma Hayek was spotted in Venice, Italy taking the sights of the town with her family.

Judging by the gaze of the men in the background, the main attraction was Mrs Hayek-Pinault.

She wore a simple LBD with a plunging neckline and black YSL wedges.

Her arm candy was a delicious Gucci Stirrup tote.

The tan ostrich bag provides nice contrast to her all black look.

This luxe bag with a stirrup-embellishment is exquisitely crafted making this timeless piece.

You can buy the Gucci Stirrup Tote in python from Saks.com and in tan leather from Saks.com and Net-A-Porter International.

Salma Hayek was spotted in Venice, Italy today with her husband Francois-Henri Pinault and their adorable daughter Valentina Paloma Pinault.

We haven’t always been fond of Salma wearing Balenciaga, but on this occasion her Pre-Fall 2011 dress look amazing on her.

The First Lady of the Gucci group paired her commercial Balenciaga sleeveless print dress with a bright yellow Balenciaga crocodile bag and plum Balenciaga strappy sandals.

Slick shades and a ponytail completed her sexy street style look.

Last week Salma Hayek was spotted wearing a pair of Balenciaga Spring 2010 booties.

Your comments ranged from “Makes her bottom half look like horse legs,” to “they are the devil’s shoes,” to “Stumpifying.”

She clearly doesn’t read this blog, because she stepped out in a second pair this weekend.

The striped colour-block Balenciaga heels were again teamed with her favourite Bottega Veneta Brick Cervo Bag and a khaki belted dress.

Whilst I love the colour co-ordination, I agree that the booties aren’t really doing her many favours.

Back in April last year, Salma Hayek wore Balenciaga Spring 2010 shoes on the red carpet, and I was not best pleased.

I prefer a more glamorous Salma on the red carpet. At the time I felt she was trying too hard.

Cut to a year later, and the First Lady of The Gucci Group was spotted wearing her Balenciaga heels again.

This time she wore them on a shopping trip in Beverly Hills.

I much prefer the heels worn in this type of setting than on the red carpet.

The actress wore her heels with a draped navy dress and a Bottega Veneta Brick Cervo bag.
