The London Evening Standard Theatre Awards Red Carpet Roundup

The London Evening Standard Theatre Awards Red Carpet Roundup

Here is a roundup of those who joined Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Kate Beckinsale and Nicole Kidman on the red carpet for the London Evening Standard Theatre Awards held at The Old Vic Theatre on Sunday (November 22) in London, England.

Salma Hayek: As you know I’m a huge advocate for Sexy Salma, but ay caramba this is perhaps a bit too much. As pretty as this Alexander McQueen ruffled gown is, ALL I can focus on are the twins.

Gemma Arterton: Like Lea Seydoux, Gemma always seems to have magic moments in Prada, but I wasn’t so enamoured by this look on this occasion. The colour is pretty, but the style fell way short for an awards ceremony.

Ruth Wilson: There was plenty of glamour imbued in Ruth’s Reem Acra gown which sparkled under the bright lights on the red carpet. Ruth usually takes a risk, so this was a rare princess moment which she totally nailed.

Ruth Wilson In Christopher Kane – 71st Annual Theatre World Awards

Ruth Wilson In Christopher Kane - 71st Annual Theatre World Awards

Ruth Wilson attended the 71st Annual Theatre World Awards, hosted on Monday (June 1) at The Lyric Theatre in New York City.

Donning her own version of theatre’s comedy and tragedy masks, the actress channeled the bold, seductive appeal of Christopher Kane’s Fall 2015 collection in a head silhouettes velvet dress.

While her deep red lip plays right into the look, I would have loved to see her do something different with her hair; a sleeker style would have continued the straightforward yet dramatic theme.

Ruth Wilson In Ralph Lauren – 2015 Tony Awards

Ruth Wilson In Ralph Lauren - 2015 Tony Awards

Ruth Wilson, who was nominated for Best Leading Actress in a Play for her role in ‘Constellations’, attended the 2015 Tony Awards at Radio City Music Hall on Sunday (June 7) in New York City.

The British actress wore a one-of-a-kind fuchsia pink Ralph Lauren gown inspired by the Spring 2015 collection.

This gown, defined by its boxy tee and silk gazar skirt, is a mesmerising embodiment of minimalism.

She could’ve taken on the runway styling, but it would’ve taken away the beauty of the simple, elegant design.

Swept back tresses and Verdura earrings completed her look.

Weekend Red Carpet Roundup

weekend roundup

The weekend brought with it a garden variety of ensembles from Los Angeles to London, and more. Here, a glance at the looks and the starlets who wore them.

Emma Roberts: Joining Diane Kruger and Freida Pinto, the actress was at the 8th annual Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic at Liberty State Park on Saturday (May 30) in Jersey City, New Jersey. She styled her sunny yellow Christine Alcalay Spring 2015 dress with Michael Kors Benji straw wedge sandals, an M2malletier Mini Amor Fati leopard pony bag, and Preen by Thornton Bregazzi Chantilly sunglasses, all topped off with a braided ’do.

Elsa Pataky: Elsa was the picture of girly charm, as she joined Emily Blunt at the Audi Polo Challenge at Coworth Park on Sunday (May 31) in London, England. Her rose-printed Ulyana Sergeenko demi couture dress was adorable yet I would have loved to see it without the pink sweater. Casadei nude suede pumps assured her legs went on for days, with a Paula Cademartori clutch finishing the look.

Sophia Bush: The actress was at Glamour USA’s June ‘Success’ Issue dinner party at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles, California on Friday (May 29). While her Vivienne Westwood Fall 2015 dress, worn with a Rauwolf clutch and Giuseppe Zanotti sandals, was rather elaborate with its heavy print and silhouette, she ensured the look stayed fresh with her hair and makeup on the barely-there side.

Ruth Wilson In Gabriela Hearst – ‘The Affair’ LA Screening

Ruth Wilson In Gabriela Hearst - 'The Affair' LA Screening

Ruth Wilson attended the screening of Showtime’s ‘The Affair’ at Samuel Goldwyn Theater on Wednesday (May 6) in Beverly Hills, California.

While the beautiful emerald hue of this Gabriela Hearst Fall 2015 dress did plenty to flatter, the rest of the look fell flat.

I wish the flowy chiffon dress had been more suitable to Ruth’s figure with less of a a gaping keyhole.

The styling also seemed rather disjointed with the Kelly Bailey necklace and Alexandre Birman blue sandals not exactly going with the flow here, although I applaud the outside-the-norm risk with the shoes.
