Paula Patton In Lorena Sarbu - Film Independent Spirit Awards 2014

Paula Patton attended the 2014 Film Independent Spirit Awards at Santa Monica Beach on Saturday (March 1) in Santa Monica, California.

The ‘About Last Night’ actress was all smiles as she hit the red carpet; glowing in a bright yellow mini Lorena Sarbu dress with a floral lace overlay.

Nude Christian Louboutin pumps and Anito Ko jewels accessorized her look, with neutral makeup providing the finishing touch.

While we love Paula, we’ve often criticized her style; but this is, without question, one of her best red carpet looks in a while. Fancy that.

Krysten Ritter In Versace - Film Independent Spirit Awards 2014

Krysten Ritter vamped up the blue carpet at the 2014 Film Independent Spirit Awards, hosted on Saturday (March 1) at Santa Monica Beach in Santa Monica, California.

Striking a perfect pose, the actress delivered a dose of ferocious style to the proceedings in a Versace Fall 2013 bodycon frock, polished up with a pair of gold metallic Rubert Sanderson ‘Elba’ pumps.

Peppered at the front and centre with an abstracted yellow animal print, the edgy dress also featured curve-enhancing black vinyl at the sides and back.

She balanced the sultry punk look with a sleek black Tyler Alexandra clutch and a simple approach to hair and makeup, wearing wavy black locks and a simple blush-nude lip. No need to overdo the edgy effect, after all.

Do you like the drama she brought to the event?

Elisabeth Rohm In Maria Lucia Hohan - Film Independent Spirit Awards 2014

Elisabeth Rohm attended the 2014 Film Independent Spirit Awards at Santa Monica Beach on Saturday (March 1) in Santa Monica, California.

The actress wore a Maria Lucia Hohan gown in a beautiful tangerine hue that features the Romanian designers signature illusion panels.

As we all know illusion panels can be tricky, but here it matches Elisabeth’s tan perfectly.

While the gown looks very much like every other gown the designer has ever created, this is a gorgeous look for Elisabeth.

Coral lips, subtle wavy tresses and a Longchamp clutch rounded out her look.

Sarah Paulson In Honor - Film Independent Spirit Awards 2014

Sarah Paulson apparently also got the white fashion memo for the 2014 Film Independent Spirit Awards, hosted on Saturday (March 1) at Santa Monica Beach in Santa Monica, California.

The ’12 Years a Slave’ star gave us a look at the Honor Fall 2014 collection via her white cropped shirt and skirt ensemble.

Filled with funky little details like the three-dimensional, azure-hued floral embellishment that crept down the back of the top, along with the sheer white underlay and sleeves, this was nothing if not an interesting entrance.

Adding to the quirk factor of the look were galactic silver Rupert Sanderson ‘Elba’ pumps and a Bottega Veneta blue satin, basket-weave clutch.

Kristen Bell In Reem Acra - Film Independent Spirit Awards 2014

Kristen Bell dressed to impress at the 2014 Film Independent Spirit Awards, hosted on Saturday (March 1) at Santa Monica Beach in California.

Taking a slightly more formal approach than some of the other stars, the actress wore a Reem Acra Pre-Fall 2014 strapless cocktail dress with black Christian Louboutin ‘Toboggan’ peep-toe sandals.

I always am fond of seeing this particularly saturated shade of vivid blue on the red carpet. This time, the colour was emboldened with black lace and sequin trim around the bodice and down the sides.

Lightly tousled blonde waves and a light pink lip dialled back some of the dress’s drama, adding a relaxed, youthful note.

Are you missing the thin, waist-defining belt seen in the lookbook?

Ahna O'Reilly In Elie Saab - Film Independent Spirit Awards 2014

Ahna O’Reilly also attended the 2014 Film Independent Spirit Awards, hosted on Saturday (March 1) at Santa Monica Beach in California.

The actress skipped a frock in favour of an Elie Saab Spring 2014 ensemble, consisting of a creamy-white top, embellished in watercolour florals, and matching high-waisted, tailored pants.

While we certainly aren’t accustomed to seeing a non-gown Elie Saab moment on the red carpet, this look had the potential to be every bit as stunning as those dresses.

However, I was missing the crisp, bright appeal that captivated me on the runway. A victim perhaps of poor styling, the chic separates were weighed down by clunky Aldo platform sandals and a garish hot-pink clutch.
