Rita Wilson In Prada – First Annual Luncheon to Honor The Female Nominees of the 86th Oscars

Rita Wilson In Prada - First Annual Luncheon to Honor The Female Nominees of the 86th Oscars

Rita Wilson attended an intimate luncheon hosted by Diane von Furstenberg, Anne Hathaway and Willow Bay in Los Angeles, California on Tuesday (February 26) to celebrate the year’s female nominees for the 86th annual Academy Awards.

For the second time in a row the actress wore a Prada Resort 2014 dress, and once again I will have to say no, this doesn’t work for me.

While I have no qualms with the busy print, I don’t think the collection is well suited to Rita.

Perhaps going down Naomi Watts’ route of wearing a suit with a bold-printed Prada top would’ve worked better for Rita.

Rita Wilson In Prada – 21st Annual ELLA Awards

Rita Wilson In Prada - 21st Annual ELLA Awards

Rita Wilson attended the 21st Annual ELLA Awards held at The Beverly Hilton Hotel on Thursday (February 20) in Beverly Hills, California.

The actress, and wife of Tom Hanks, was flying solo on the red carpet, wearing a Prada Resort 2014 salmon-coloured printed frock with black sleeves, which she styled with black sandals.

Despite the graphic print, this fails to excite. Rita for me is better than this. The dress makes her look quite frumpy.

Rita Wilson accompanied her husband Tom Hanks on the red carpet at the 2014 BAFTAs, on Sunday (February 16) held at The Royal Opera House in London, England.

The actress, who is always the well-turned-out plus-one, wore a Jenny Packham champagne tulle gown with iridescent deco inspired beading which was simply stunning.

Her gorgeous gown was matched with a equally bedazzled bag and jewels, with a sweeping updo and pink lips rounding out her look

Rita Wilson In Tom Ford – ‘Captain Phillips’ London Film Festival Premiere

Rita Wilson In Tom Ford - 'Captain Phillips' London Film Festival Premiere

Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson attended the European premiere of ‘Captain Phillips’ on the opening night of the 57th BFI London Film Festival held at Odeon Leicester Square this evening.

Both wearing black, Tom opted for a classic tux, while Rita’s look had a bit more Ka-Pow.

Taking the Helen Mirren ‘dress-as-young-as-you-feel’ approach, the actress wore black Tom Ford Fall 2013 long sleeve gown with a striking multi-coloured ‘Flash! Bang! Wallop!’ sequin motif on the hip.

A simple ponytail and a black-and-white clutch completed her look.

I know many of you don’t share my enthusiasm for Rita’s red carpet style; so how does this one fare for you?

Rita Wilson In Versace – ‘Cloud Atlas’ LA Premiere

Rita Wilson attended the ‘Cloud Atlas’ LA premiere held at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre last night in Hollywood, California.

Like many stars who attended her Versace Soho Boutique opening, Rita wore a Versace Fall 2012 dress.

Her black velvet dress with a crescent-shaped bodice features geometric-shaped leather side panels and all-over gothic cross appliqués.

This is an edgy look for Rita, but she’s never shied away from making bold choices in the past.

Black sandals and a black clutch completed her look.

Who Wore Monique Lhuillier Better? Mandy Moore or Rita Wilson

Mandy Moore attended this year’s Oscars wearing a beautiful Monique Lhuillier Spring 2011 nude sequin and tulle gown.

The delicate gown features a heavily sequined bodice, clustered together to form a sweetheart neckline. A barely visible overlay drapes down into sequined half-sleeves.

Mandy made the dress her biggest statement and added only a pair of earrings and a matching ring to the dress. She wore her hair in a chic bun and added a splash of colour with some coral lipstick.

Rita Wilson wore the same dress to attend the Buckingham Palace State Banquet with husband Tom Hanks last week.

She wore gold accessories with her look, which included dangly earrings, an intricate cuff and a matching clutch which added to the gorgeous sparkles of the dress. Like Mandy, she also chose to wear her hair up in a bun.

Both women look amazing, but my vote has to go to Mandy.

Even though it was a predictable choice, I definitely think it’s more age-appropriate on her. I also think Rita went a little overboard with the blush and would have preferred more subtle makeup paired with this dress.
