Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Menswear Weekend RoundupOver the weekend, the men made a series of red-carpet appearances in a range of eclectic statements—some traditional, some trendsetting. Here, a look at the highlights.

Douglas Booth: Looking appropriately dapper, the British actor attended the Irish fan premiere of ‘Noah,’ held at Savoy Cinema in Dublin, Ireland on Saturday (March 29). He paired his urbane Alexander McQueen blue and grey check double-breasted suit and waistcoat with a complementary blue tie and polished black loafers.

Jamie Campbell Bower: Giving us a good dose of English edginess, the actor was at the Jameson Empire Film Awards 2014 at Grosvenor House on Sunday (March 30) in London, England. He wore an Alexander McQueen navy skull jacquard suit, matched to a white tonal skull stripe shirt, polka-dot skull pocket square and black suede lace up shoes. Mussed-up hair, a nose ring and earring only added to all that skull-laced edge.

'40 Principales Awards' 2013 - Red Carpet

Following the Madrid premiere of ‘The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug’, Luke Evans and Richard Armitage attended the ’40 Principales Awards’ 2013 which took place at the Palacio de los Deportes on Thursday evening (December 12) in Madrid, Spain.

Richard Armitage: The British actor continued this love for all things blue wearing a dark-blue suit styled with a blue-and-white gingham shirt, black knit tie and a violet-and-white polka-dot pocket square which pepped up the look.

Luke Evans: After favouring blue-hued suits for the last few outings, the Welsh actor wore a sleek Calvin Klein Collection oxblood wool two-button notch lapel suit, white shirt and black skinny tie from the Fall 2013. While I like the suit, I’m not so sure about the half-up, half-down hairstyle.

Menswear Round up

Five o’clock shadows intact, Richard Armitage, James Marsden and Luke Evans attended movie premieres last night in Madrid and London.

Richard Armitage: For the Madrid premiere of ‘The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug’, the British actor again opted for various shades of blue. Keeping his Unconditional blazer, the actor added Vivienne Westwood plaid trousers to the ensemble. In lieu of a pocket square for a pop of colour, the actor selected windowpane pants that were navy and grey with a touch of turquoise that matched his tie. A brown belt and dark brown shoes pulled the look together.

James Marsden: Wearing a midnight three-piece Dolce & Gabbana suit for the London premiere of ‘Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues’, the actor hit all the right colour notes by punching up his look via a red trimmed pocket square, pink and purple striped tie and check shirt.

Luke Evans: Selecting a shirt with a wide neck collar, as the current menswear trends dictate as stylish, the ‘Fast and Furious’ actor went with a dark tone on tone three-piece Boss by Hugo Boss pinstriped suit for the Madrid premiere of ‘The Hobbit.’ Though the knot of his tie could have been a bit thicker, the overall look is a decent one.

'The Hobbit The Desolation Of Smaug' Berlin Premiere Menswear Roundup

Fittingly dapper, Benedict Cumberbatch, Richard Armitage, Luke Evans and Orlando Bloom joined Evangeline Lilly on the red carpet at the Sony Centre in Germany last night for the Berlin premiere of ‘The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.’

Benedict Cumberbatch: The British actor came suited in a Dolce & Gabbana blue velvet blazer, bow tie and grey trousers. This is the actors second Dolce & Gabbana velvet suit having worn a red velvet blazer to the LA premiere earlier this month.

Richard Armitage: Keeping up the blue trend, which would be continued throughout the night, Richard Armitage opted for a opted for a navy Unconditional suit set off by a blue tie and shirt. By all accounts, this is a well matched look with a colourful pocket square preventing the look from feeling too one-note.

Richard Armitage In Hugo Boss - 'The Hobbit The Desolation Of Smaug' LA PremiereRichard Armitage was at ‘The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug’ Los Angeles premiere on Monday at the TCL Chinese Theatre in California, where he also joined Orlando Bloom and Benedict Cumberbatch on the red carpet.

The British actor held his own, striking a handsome stance in a slate-grey Hugo Boss three-piece suit that actually worked to enhance his baby blues.

An eggplant tie with tie clip, along with patent mahogany loafers, injected a more interesting colour story here, whereas black pairings would have been far too expected.

After seeing his co-stars Orlando and Benedict, how do you rate Richard’s look?

Here is a quick roundup of the menswear which took to the red carpet last night.

Richard Armitage: The actor may have taken a back seat to my first love Cate Blanchett; but he did look rather dashing on the red carpet attending the royal premiere of ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’, at the Odeon Leicester Square in London wearing a classic Ermenegildo Zegna black shawl collar tuxedo with a dickie bow-tie.

Ewan McGregor: Joining Naomi Watts on the red carpet for ‘The Impossible’ special screening at Museum of Art and Design in New York City yesterday evening, Ewan wore a sharp pin-stripe dark suit. The suit was styled with a blue cotton poplin shirt and black-and-grey brogues from the Marni Fall 2012 collection. He sure does love those stand-out brogues.

Eddie Redmayne: Sans sexy face and sporting his signature lean-to-the-left red carpet pose, the British actor attended the Museum Of Moving Images salute to Hugh Jackman at Cipriani Wall Street on Tuesday in New York City dressed in a Thom Browne Fall 2012 black tuxedo with a bow tie. This promo tour has been great for the handsome actor. Could he be your BDMOTY (Best Dressed Man Of The Year)?

In the absence of Cate Blanchett at the New York premiere of ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’, held at the Ziegfeld Theater in New York City yesterday evening, I could give Richard Armitage my full attention.

I think I said this before but I love a three-piece suit, so picture me swooning over Richard wearing this Michael Bastian Fall 2012 herringbone check suit.

He styled this suit with a white dress shirt and a cobalt-blue tie which brings out the blue tones of this suit.

I’m so excited that the BDOTW menswear edition is going to be so hotly contested this week.
