Red Carpet Fashion Awards

BDOTW 11 1

It was a busy weekend with the Baby2Baby Gala, BAFTA Los Angeles Britannia Awards, EMAs, AFI Fest premieres and two sightings of Blake Lively, so I hope you go back a few pages to catch up.

Kate Hudson swept you off your feet this week so you crowned her best dressed in her gorgeous Gucci gown.

I, on the other hand, opted for Gisele Bündchen in Atelier Versace. There were many wow moments this week, but this one made me feel very nostalgic and reminisce on the real supermodel era.

When it came to the fellas, our selections differed too. You loved Tom Hiddleston, and who can blame you? The guy knows how to wear a suit with such confidence.

Pharrell Williams got my vote in Lanvin. He looked uber cool and savvy and only narrowly beat out Gerard Butler, who looked very cool in all blue.

Pharrell Williams Loves Lanvin

Pharrell Williams wore two Lanvin suits this week.

As always both looks are uber stylish with a cool swagger which always guarantees him a place on best dressed lists.

It looks like he’s jumped on the high-water/no socks Tinie Tempah trend as he rolled up his trousers for both looks.

WSJ. Magazine’s ‘Innovator of the Year’ Awards 2013: Joining Gisele Bündchen on the red carpet, he opted for a light slate-blue two button blazer styled with black trousers, a black silk bow tie, and a pair of navy blue derbies in metallic techno silk. While I love the look I think grey trousers with those shoes would’ve looked even better.

‘Keep A Child Alive’ 10th Annual Black Ball: It was head-to-toe black for Alicia Keys’ Ball Ball; working a three-piece Lanvin tuxedo with a silk bow tie and patent leather shoes.

The first look is my favourite as he looks very savvy. Which do you favour?

GQ 1

Excluding Eddie Redmayne, the GQ Men Of The Year Awards held at The Royal Opera House in London yesterday evening was awash with handsome men in dark suits.

Justin Timberlake (in Tom Ford) and Pharrell Williams (in Lanvin) both opted for textured suits with bow ties jazzing up the traditional tux, while David Gandy kept it simple and classic in his Henry Poole & Co. bespoke three-piece suit.

2013 BET Awards Menswear Round Up

Fashionable (and fearless) femmes kept the red-carpet hot at the 2013 BET Awards, hosted last night at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in California. But, amid the sparkle and the skin, the guys brought their own brand of flash.

Pharrell Williams: The rapper didn’t blur any lines with his straight-laced style, cleaning up in a charcoal-grey Lanvin look that featured a shrunken blazer worn over a black-and-white chequerboard shirt and festooned with a perky bow tie. Yes, the rolled and tapered pant legs could have been better tailored, but with his cocky cool-kid shades, Pharrell could pull off almost anything.

Miguel: The best male R&B pop artist winner swooped onto the red carpet flaunting a trendster McQ Alexander McQueen monochromatic ensemble. His swallow-print McQ shirt was slightly Hitchcock-ian. But he tamed the chaotic birds by tucking them into skinny black jeans, all topped off with a quiff and studded lace-up shoes.

Justin Timberlake: JT took a sleek, all-black approach for his star-studded stage time with Pharrell and Snoop Dogg, as the song-and-dance man worked a textured Tom Ford suit and satin bow-tie paired with Christian Louboutin ‘New Orleans Flat’ black patent leather lace-up dress shoes.

Met Men

To celebrate the new ‘Punk: Chaos to Couture’ exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City on Monday, some of the biggest celebs walked down the red carpet. In honour of the exhibit, many of the men chose to give their formal looks a bit of punk inspiration, which made for an exciting menswear event.

Eddie Redmayne: The red carpet phenom added another beautiful look to his collection, wearing a Dior Homme navy-blue wool tuxedo with black grosgrain peak lapels. As always, it fit just right. To finish it off, Eddie added a white cotton shirt, a black satin bow tie, a white pocket square, and black patent-leather derbies.

Frank Ocean: In a Givenchy black tuxedo, Frank looked incredibly dapper for the event. His two-button notch-lapel tux fit well and he paired it classically with a white shirt and black bow tie. To give the outfit a little kick of punk, Frank opted for shoes with silver studs going around the soles – a very cool addition.

Joshua Jackson: I’ve never been OK with wearing a red tie to a red carpet event. It’s cheesy. I don’t like that aspect of his outfit, but I love the beige linen lapels on his Dior Homme black suit. Even though it’s a small detail on his jacket, it made for a stylish look. Joshua topped it off with a white cotton shirt and a Chanel ‘J12 Black Matte Ceramic’ watch.

Pharrell Williams attended Moncler’s 60th anniversary dinner party during Art Basel Miami on Friday evening.

No one pushes the fashion envelope like Pharrell Williams – and throw in the added style stakes of the Art Basel, and of course a unique ensemble will be the result.

Pharrell rocks an avant-garde camo-print suit – complete with shorts and a bow tie – from Moncler Gamme Bleu.

The camo-print is totally on point with trends in the hip-hop community these days, while the cheeky wing tip shoes and Ray-Ban shades reflect Pharrell’s trademark edgy personality.

While the shorts may seem a little off, let’s remember that this is Miami at Art Basel! Not only is it hot out, but everything is an artistic statement – including the red carpet looks of megastar music moguls.

Just don’t try to find a suit like this on your own – it’s custom for Pharrell.
