2017 amfAR Gala Cannes Model Roundup

The models were out in force for the amfAR Gala Cannes on Thursday (May 25) during the Cannes Film Festival.

Elsa Hosk: Striking a pose with a distinct pink, pinup mood, this Ermanno Scervino Fall 2017 gown had all the hallmarks of boudoir dressing with the exposed corset and sheer lace—distracting black heels notwithstanding.

Bianca Balti: What’s this? A model not baring it all? Bianca went for a more conservative stance in a Dolce & Gabbana black gown that oozed of old Hollywood glamour when styled with finger waves, statement jewels, and Gianvito Rossi shoes.

Joan Smalls: Between the length, the ubiquitous slit, and the collar-style neck piece, I wasn’t quite sure what to make of this Elie Saab Spring 2017 Couture dress paired with Giuseppe Zanotti sandals and gigantic hoop earrings. Hip-hop, tribal glam?

Chopard Space Party

Galactic with a touch of diamonds was said to be the dress code of the Chopard SPACE Party, co-hosted by Rihanna, during the 2017 Cannes Film Festival on Friday (May 19), and the stars in attendance indeed delivered a constellation of looks appropriately dusted with Chopard jewels.

Bella Hadid: Lest you think Bella had turned a corner with a newly modest style after the ‘Okja’ premiere, her Roberto Cavalli Couture slit-to-thigh gown promptly signaled her return to the leg jut. But, it was necessary to show off her custom-made Rene Caovilla gladiator sandals. I always find satin a challenging fabric, and that was evidenced here. Futuristically winged eyeliner finished the look.

Adriana Lima: Looking impossibly regal, Adriana struck a divine note in this Reem Acra Spring 2018 Bridal gown that would never be confused for a wedding dress. I was in awe of the glamour that exuded form the embellished top and dramatic, caped split sleeve.

Kendall Jenner: I love the sculptural mood of this shimmering Ralph & Russo Spring 2017 Couture design that could certainly pass for space-age sophistication.

‘Loveless (Nelyubov)’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere Red Carpet Roundup

The ‘Loveless (Nelyubov)’ premiere at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival on Thursday (May 18) included a number of other bold names on the red carpet, although I fear that none of them will have upped the Cannes style ante this year.

Susan Sarandon: I was underwhelmed by Susan’s look at opening night and this Chanel Resort 2017 ensemble didn’t really change that sentiment. with Stella Luna ‘Le Smoking’ slingbacks, Chanel Fine Jewelry and Chanel shades

Robin Wright: Robin opted for a long gown this time out, but while the colour was magnificent, the satiny slip dress fell rather flat. A blue velvet Hayward clutch completed the look.

Uma Thurman: Uma impressed me yesterday, but I was left supremely puzzled by this Giuseppe Zanotti Fall 2017 ensemble consisting of a ‘Connie’ black croc-stamped biker jacket—why in the Cannes summer?—paired with an ill-fitting, creased satin skirt and a Tod’s clutch. It was a bit of a mess.

Petra Nemcova In Hilfiger Collection – Harper’s Bazaar Celebrates 150 Most Fashionable Women

Petra Nemcova channelled the spirit of the roaring twenties when she hit the red carpet at the Harper’s Bazaar celebration of the 150 Most Fashionable Women in West Hollywood, California on Friday (January 27).

Her silver degradé cocktail dress with a myriad of vintage glass beads from the Hilfiger Collection was styled with a playful Jennifer Behr ‘Delicate Vine Circlet’ headpiece and silver Rubeus Milano clutch.

I feel there is a slight disconnect with her cream caged booties.

She should’ve gone full tin-woman for this look.

Elie Saab Spring 2017 Couture Front Row

The enchanting Elie Saab Couture Spring 2017 show was hosted on Wednesday (January 25) as part of Paris Fashion Week, where some of the designer’s darlings were seated front and center for the action.

Olga Kurylenko: Showing no signs of skipping any must-see show, the French actress gave us yet another look. Here, she let her pins out to play in an Elie Saab romper the combined the formality of precise tailoring and a cummerbund-inspired waistband with the youthfulness of a playsuit.

Paz Vega: The exact opposite of Olga’s look in the leggy department, the Spanish actress covered up in a long Elie Saab metallic pinstripe dress, where the effortless feminine allure came in by virtue of the languid bow detail at the neck and the defined waist along with Paz’s gold tassel earrings.

Petra Nemcova: In an Elie Saab frock that combined geometric colour blocks with lace in rather arbitrary form, the supermodel had my least favourite look. A sleek bun and a simple, non-lace-up heel would have helped the cluttered effect.
