Red Carpet Fashion Awards

It looks like it wasn’t only Fan Bingbing who wore an Elie Saab Spring 2010 Couture look to the Cannes Film Festival closing ceremony yesterday, as Penelope Cruz did too.

The only thing was Penelope didn’t walk the red carpet.

Why wouldn’t you want to share this stunning nude embroidered strapless lace Elie Saab Couture gown with the world?

Instead she was spotted sneaking in the back door with her boyfriend Javier Bardem, who shared the best actor award at the Cannes film festival with Italian actor Elio Germano on Sunday.

Note to Pen: Couture is not for the back door. Oooh that rhymes.

Such a shame as she looks breath-taking wearing her dress with satin heels and a matching Roger Vivier clutch.

This is not the first time we’ve seen Dita von Teese following in Penelope Cruz’ footsteps.

They both wore the same Alexander McQueen houndstooth pencil dress last year.

On this occasion they both wore this Dolce & Gabbana fringed dress from the Spring 2010 collection.

I really didn’t like it on Penelope Cruz when she wore it to the “Nine” Rome photocall earlier this year.

The tights and the peep-toes watered down the look making the sexy fringe dress plain and boring.

Dita showed Ms Cruz how to wear this dress at “Flaunt Magazine’s April Fashion issue launch party” this weekend.

She remove those horrible bra like straps and added some leather gloves to the amp up the look.

It’s amazing to me that even though Dita attempted to dial down the sexiness of this dress by add a lining and wearing tights, she’s still oozes so much sexy appeal.

Dita wins by a country mile.

This Dolce & Gabbana dress is available to purchase from Luisa via Roma.

Nice, Yet No Wow Factor Award
Penelope Cruz looked beautiful on the red carpet at the 2010 Oscars last night.

Her hair was pulled back as she glowed in her burgundy Donna Karan strapless gown.

I liked this gown, but I was missing the wow factor I was very much expecting from Penelope.

I really wanted that same excitement I felt from Zoe Saldana’s look. But this just gets a polite smile.

Her jewels were by Chopard.

It’s raining in London today, but thankfully the rain didn’t ruin both Camilla Belle’s and Penelope Cruz’ red carpet moments this week.

Camilla looked fabulous in fuchsia Marchesa gown to win your votes. There’s nothing this girl can wear that we don’t all admire.

I was more taken by Penelope in both her looks this week, but more so by this stunning simple Versace gown.

Her black phase appears to be well behind her.

Hopefully I haven’t spoken too soon.

Marion Cotillard and Penelope Cruz continue to work the European leg of the promotional tour for their movie “Nine”.

They were in Paris last night, dressed by their favourite designers.

Marion wore a Christian Dior Fall 2009 Couture nude dress with a lace embellished overlay.

The dress had been modified from the runway, but I much prefer the dress as it was presented.

A lot of the charm has been lost for me in Marion’s shorter version, plus I loved the dress belted.

I also really dislike Marion’s styling from the hair to the single gold earring.

For the second time this week Penelope Cruz has blown me away.

She wore a ballet pink floor-length L’Wren Scott Spring 2010 dress with a delicate lace train which was custom-made for the Spanish actress.

My first thought was “thank god it’s not black” as I love seeing Pen wearing colour.

Now the dilmena is which dress should be added to the BDOTW poll.

The Versace or the L’Wren Scott dress?

Penelope Cruz was in Madrid last night to attend the 2010 Goya Awards, which is the Spanish equivalent to the Oscars.

The actress who was not only a presenter on the night, but she was also nominated Best Actress for “Broken Embraces”.

Pen looked stunning wearing a vintage Gianni Versace ivory column gown with vertical signature “Gianni” Versace zippers in the back of the dress.

I loved the colour on her. So much more refreshing than the black gowns she tends to often wear.

The cut and silhouette is exquisite, and she just as beautiful from the front as she is from the back.
