Olga Kurylenko graces the cover of the November 2008 edition of Elle Russia
Her story is that ten years ago, the girl from the Ukrainian city of Berdyansk, went to Paris to work model. Now the actress is a Bond Girl in Quantum of Solace.
Here are some extracts from her interview:
On the fact that she has not changed since becoming a Bond Girl: “How can I change? Should I behave like something other than what I am, suddenly change the tone? That’s ridiculous! I have never sought fame, so this is my fate. So I just continue to live as I have always lived”.
On wanting to originally become a Doctor: “Mama seriously feared something is wrong with me, because I loved reading medical books. I was not afraid to look at the blood, and internal organs. In fact, it was my favorite reading at night! I thought it was so exciting that you can cure a disease or somehow help. If I had not become an actress, I certainly would be a Doctor.”
On the modern Bond Girl: “Bond Girls have become more empowered and independent.”
On her personal style: “I like to wear jeans, T-shirts. I only wear heels to parties.“
On her favourite food: “I love Japanese food.”
On her her favourite city: “I lived in Paris for ten years, where I did well, but this city I did not have enough energy. People can drink coffee for five hours, which is crazy to me. The energy of London, is wonderful. The US has a willingness of people to work hard, and achieve something. But when I am in America, I really missed Europe, with its soul, its architecture. In this sense, London is universal, with it’s energy and soul.”
