Variety’s Power Of Women

Variety’s Power Of Women event brought together philanthropic femmes for an exclusive luncheon in Beverly Hills, California on Friday (October 13).

Octavia Spencer: Celebrated at the event for her work with City Year, Octavia gave her favoured designer Tadashi Shoji the afternoon off, instead donning a custom-made Laura Basci ensemble. I love how she brought a touch of the wild to the business-chic side of the dress with her leopard accessories.

Ashley Tisdale: With a fun and flirty outlook, Ashley wore a CMEO Collective number, to which the black pumps didn’t exactly reflect the youthful vibe. I would have probably skipped the diamond chokers, too.

Nikki Reed: The new mom kept her frilly, feminine look as meaningful as possible by wearing an eco-friendly dress by Amur. An Edie Parker clutch, John Hardy jewels, and Rupert Sanderson shoes rounded out the look.

Octavia Spencer In Tadashi Shoji – ‘The Shape Of Water’ Toronto Film Festival Promo

It’s been a busy Toronto Film Festival for Octavia Spencer, but one thing that’s been consistent is her designer: Tadashi Shoji.

Like Venice Film Festival, the New York based designer hooked his favourite girl up in a selection of gorgeous pieces.

IMDb Studio: As Octavia tends to opt for darker hues, this sunny Tadashi Shoji top really brightened my day. I would love her to branch out and try more colours in the future as well as those fun animal print shoes.  The look was styled with a L’Dezen sliced diamond ring.

Fox Searchlight TIFF Party: Quickly reverting back to those deep dark hues she loves, this floral dress felt so fresh and vibrant. I didn’t get that same feeling from the navy dress she wore during Venice. She styled this look with deep blue velvet Jimmy Choo ‘Holly’ platforms which evoked the unbridled glamour of the ’70s.

‘The Shape Of Water’ Premiere: Her final look was beautiful. For Toronto Film Festival, cocktail dresses work within the more relaxed environment. So you’ll get no complaints from this time around about he off-the-shoulder peplum number.   I love how this look benefits from the sleek styling which included Steve Madden ‘Slithur’ shoes which I also own in yellow…naturally.

Octavia Spencer In Tadashi Shoji – ‘The Shape Of Water’ Venice Film Festival Photocall & Premiere

Octavia Spencer is in Italy to promote her new film, ‘The Shape Of Water’ during the 74th Venice Film Festival on Thursday (August 31), where she of course wore Tadashi Shoji.

I don’t know about you, but I found myself being surprisingly underwhelmed by Octavia on this occasion.

Photocall: This style fits Octavia to a tee, but this dress would’ve been so much better had the lining not been so stark. It was the wrong shade for this navy dress.

Premiere: While I do love this look, especially the wine-hue, I would’ve loved something that was more in tune with the grand occasion. This as a gown would’ve been magical for me. Lorraine Schwartz jewels completed her look.

End Of The Week Roundup

With so many looks over the past week, here is a roundup of a few that were missed in the red carpet crush of events.

Julie Ann Emery: Joining Jenny Slate at the ‘Gifted’ LA premiere on Tuesday (April 4), Julie Ann embraced a minimalist angle in this Ingie Paris gown that was lovely for its aura of simplicity, although it seemed to fall a tad long at the front.

Olivia Culpo: Speaking of minimalism, this greige Cushnie et Ochs asymmetric jumpsuit was an easy-chic offering. But, it really just played second fiddle to her ultra-bronzed beauty at the grand opening celebration of the W Las Vegas on Friday (March 31).

Jess Weixler:‏ Visually enticing, the crisp white lines of this Jason Wu gown punctuated its rich burgundy hue. I only wish the actress had opted for a sleeker updo at ‘The SON’ LA premiere on Monday (April 3).

Octavia Spencer In Marchesa – 2017 Oscars

Octavia Spencer was at the 2017 Oscars on Sunday (February 26) in Hollywood, California.

We know the actress for her love of Tadashi Shoji on the red carpet, but tonight she had a Marchesa moment.

Yes, there was a whimsicality of the feminine, feathery skirt but there was something about the bodice that broke the spell a bit. It almost seemed to have a flattening effect.

With a beautifully sleek bob to top off the look, she accessorized with Stuart Weitzman heels and Forevermark Diamonds.

89th Annual Academy Awards Nominee Luncheon Red Carpet Roundup

More stars were also in the mix at the 89th Annual Academy Awards Nominee Luncheon, hosted on Monday (February 6) in Beverly Hills.

Viola Davis: A simple sheath dress took on bold new meaning with this Bottega Veneta geometric design. I love how Viola skipped plain black pumps in favour of a pair with pale-pink detailing.

Laura Dern: The dark mustard-y hue of this Roksanda gown is not an easy one to wear—nor is the satin material. With two strikes against the dress, perhaps a vibrant lip colour would have helped.
