Nina Garcia In Balenciaga - Marie Claire's Shoes First Shopping Event At Saks Fifth Avenue

After 3 weeks of travelling attending shows in London, Milan and Paris, Nina Garcia looked fresh as a daisy hosting Marie Claire’s Shoes First shopping event At Saks Fifth Avenue in New York City yesterday evening.

The Creative Director of Marie Claire wore an all-black look featuring a Balenciaga short-sleeved jacket with a petal hem which hails from the Fall 2013 collection.

As someone who tends to tune out when it comes to all-black looks, there is a lot I love here, starting with the jacket, with the cropped pants and edgy open-toe ankle boots giving the look a cool, effortless vibe.

Nina Garcia In Elie Saab - Project Runway Spring 2014 Fashion Show

Nina Garcia took her own spin down the catwalk, alongside fellow judge Zac Posen and guest judge Kerry Washington, at the ‘Project Runway’ Spring 2014 Fashion Show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week today in New York City.

Always polished and sophisticated, the ‘Marie Claire’ Creative Director wore an Elie Saab Resort 2014 ensemble.

Although it wasn’t one of the designer’s signature glam gowns, the black-and-nude lace top and high-waisted black pants were just as elegant.

Effortless, wavy locks and precious few accessories kept the effect straightforward and chic. But were you crazing more dazzle at this show?

Nina Garcia In Alexander McQueen - 2013 Couture Council Artistry of Fashion Award Luncheon honoring Michael Kors

The Couture Council of The Museum at the Fashion Institute of Technology honoured Michael Kors with its 2013 Couture Council Award for Artistry of Fashion yesterday afternoon, and Nina Garcia joined Anna Wintour, Iman, Lily Aldridge and several other guests to celebrate the achievement.

Unlike most of the attendees, Nina opted to wear an Alexander McQueen cape-back padded-shoulder dress with a wide belt in a gorgeous lavender hue.

I just love the electrifying colour of this subtly dramatic piece, which she styled with Alaïa black sandals and a dark-purple Nancy Gonzalez clutch.

Even though there were many well-dressed ladies at this event honouring the designer in stylish form, Nina was my best dressed at the event.

It was the battle of the bow ties on ‘Project Runway” Season 12, Episode 4, as the competing designers fashioned all sorts of concoctions based on the dapper accessory. The judges tied the sartorial knot on their looks, too.

Jesse Tyler Ferguson: The ‘Modern Family’ actor and guest judge represented his organization, Tie the Knot, quite well with his perky neckwear that was only matched by those punchy plaid pants. When paired with a solid dark-navy blazer, baby-blue button-down and white boat shoes sans socks, this was prepster meets quirky—and what a cool union it is.

Nina Garcia: The always-sophisticated ‘Marie Claire’ fashion maven showed us a slightly more rambunctious, rocker-chic side with a crest-printed ‘Sono Mama’ beaded silk panel tee by 3.1 Phillip Lim, worn with black skinny pants and sandals. What you cannot see here is she wore her white bow tie undone around her neck to complete the style-forward statement.

Zac Posen: Opting for a more formal look, the designer dressed up in a slim-fit black tux with satin lapels. With a dark bow tie and a lapel brooch, this handsome, monochromatic moment was man-glam at its finest.

Heidi Klum: The model host shimmered in her body-con black dress, blanketed in a sequin treatment, and her sassy Giuseppe Zanotti uber-embellished sandals. A heather-grey silk bow, tied round her neck, was a whimsical counterpart to all that glitter.

‘Project Runway’ Season 12, Episode 3 kept us all guessing with its carnival-spiked, unconventional Coney Island challenge. But the judging panel left much of the wackier fun to the amusement-park-influenced runway creations, maintaining their own sleek, sophisticated style.

Nina Garcia: ‘Marie Claire’ magazine’s Creative Director continued her chic streak in a Burberry Prorsum Fall 2013 look. The classic ensemble featured a conservative black pencil skirt that benefited from a subversive edge in the grommet-speckled black-and-white striped shirt and the open-toe booties.

Zac Posen: The designer judge whipped together a summery look in his light camel suit, white shirt and skinny tie, printed in a funky vintage-like pattern.

Heidi Klum: Mixing her prints, the ‘Project Runway’ host strutted out another trend-forward entrance in a navy, diamond windowpane-print blouse and polka-dot-splattered pants by Haider Ackermann, belted for definition at the waist and topped off with a pendant necklace and a simple pair of pointy-toe heels.
