Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Antonio Berardi continues to be much loved by celebrities.

The British designer scored his second red carpet look last night, courtesy of Nicole Richie.

She’s known for her love of boho and vintage pieces, but on this occasion she wore a modern black gown from Antonio Berardi’s Spring 2011 collection to the 15th Annual ACE Awards in New York City.

A black House of Harlow studded clutch accessorized her stunning, sleek plunging gown with padded shoulders, a jacquard top half and a crepe skirt with a side split.

Nicole’s red carpet style continues to impress.

A chic French twist completed her look.

Nicole Richie keeps getting better and better (beauty-wise).

Long gone are her ‘scary-skinny-with-straggly-strands’ days; the married mother of two has done a complete 180° and now gorgeously goes from strength to strength strolling down the red carpet—and the sidewalk.

Case in point: At Elle’s 18th Annual Women in Hollywood Tribute, Richie rocked a French twist—a look we’ve seen numerous times over the past two runway seasons, namely Peter Som and Jean Paul Gaultier for Fall/Winter 2011, and Badgley Mischka, Roberto Cavalli, and Dolce & Gabbana for Spring/Summer 2012.

One part swanky 60s, two-parts French fabulous, this structured updo lends an air of elegance to any look. We haven’t worn this hairstyle since junior prom, but seeing as how a refined resurgence on the horizon, we just might be persuaded to take a trip down our own personal mane memory lane.

Here’s How to Recreate The Sophisticated Style:
-Flip damp hair over your face and rough dry (sans brush) for added volume and texture;
-Flip it back and finger comb your strands over towards your right shoulder;
-Starting at the nape of your neck, loosely twist hair up towards your crown, securing every few inches with a bobby pin, which should be inserted diagonally;
-For a more refined look, flips the ends under and secure with a pin. For a funkier finish, leave your ends loose—they’ll look cool whether they’re straight and spiky or curly and carefree;
-To finish, pull a few pieces loose around your hairline to relax the look, or if you have fringe, brush your bangs over to the side. Mist with hairspray to set the ladylike look. —India-Jewel Jackson

You didn’t like Nicole Richie’s makeup last time out, so do you approve of her look at Elle’s 18th Annual Women in Hollywood Tribute event?

The socialite opted for a more grown-up, sophisticated look on this occasion wearing a Douglas Hannant Fall 2011 gown.

Her rich chocolate chiffon one-shoulder gown with lavender velvet floral print was paired with a pewter clutch.

David Yurman jewels, chocolate brown Christian Louboutin peep-toes, wing-tip eye makeup and a chic updo completed her look.

The colour of the gown is divine on her, but I’m not sure she has the height required to pull this off.

Nicole Richie doesn’t often wear bright colours, so it was refreshing to see her in this citrus hue on the red carpet at the 21st Annual Environmental Media Awards on Saturday night.

Her lemon Keepsake ‘Lost Without You’ chiffon dress with a ruffled neckline and cut-out details at the waist is an ultra-girlie look I wish she would channel more often.

Christian Louboutin ‘Luxura’ pumps, diamond-encrusted cuffs and a House of Harlow ‘Tilda’ antique studded clutch added a slightly edgier touch to her look, as did her smoky eye makeup.

It may be a bit early, but I would love to see this up for BDOTW.

Nicole Richie attended the 18th Annual QVC ‘FFANY Shoes On Sale’ at The Waldorf Astoria in New York City last night.

The star was already wearing a funky pair of House of Harlow 1960 Natalia haircalf platform booties, but that didn’t stop her trying on several pairs of other shoes at the event.

Her shoes upstaged her sexy Helmut Lang ‘Slack’ jersey dress with an asymmetrical hemline.

Her blonde locks were swept up into a very chic updo and she carried a black House of Harlow ‘Olivia’ clutch to complete her look.

It seems like celebs love Isabel Marant at the moment.

Nicole Richie is the latest celebrity to fall in love as she was spotted out shopping in LA recently, wearing Isabel Marant Renell skinny jeans from the Fall 2011 collection.

The designer paired her jeans with a black blazer and a black vest top.

Her favourite Givenchy sandals (which she’s had forever), black House of Harlow sunglasses and a Givenchy Antigona bag, which celebs are still loving, completed her look.

I love Nicole’s look from head to toe. It wipes away the horrible image of Cheryl Cole wearing similar jeans, plus it takes me back to Fashion Week when I spotted these jeans worn in white by models and French Vogue editors.

You can buy these jeans in black from Matches Fashion, Net-A-Porter US and Net-A-Porter International.
