Nicki Minaj In Oscar de la Renta – 2018 Met Gala

When Nicki Minaj wants to make a statement, she knows how to do it. Her look at the 2018 Met Gala on Monday (May 7) in New York City speaks to that.

Seamlessly fusing her sensual style with the gala’s theme, she ensured all eyes were on her with this Oscar de la Renta ensemble and rosary-adorned headpiece. It almost looks like it’s aflame with the gradient tulle and sequined fabric.

As spellbinding as this is, one cannot help but think that her 2012 Grammy Awards look would’ve been perfect for this theme.

Nicki Minaj In Alexander Wang – 2017 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards

Nicki Minaj attended the 2017 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Awards on Monday (November 6) in the Brooklyn, New York as the guest of Alexander Wang.

As you would expect, her custom piece has an edge to it, but my feeling is that this look will split you into several camps.

Camp 1. Hideous.

Camp 2. Not something you favour, but believe this suits Nicki’s style and persona.

Camp 3. Would’ve been best suited for a performance piece not a Vogue event.

Camp 4. What are those hot pants all about?

Nicki Minaj In Oscar de la Renta – Harper’s BAZAAR Celebrates ‘ICONS By Carine Roitfeld’

After her Latex looks at the MTV Video Music Awards, I wasn’t sure what to expect next from Nicki Minaj on the red carpet.

But, she returned to her more glamorous ways at the Harper’s BAZAAR Celebrates ‘ICONS By Carine Roitfeld’ event on Friday (September 8) in New York City.

She actually took a far left turn in the glam lane, with this feminine and romantic Oscar de la Renta Fall 2017 gown that was void of a plunge, slit, mullet or body-con silhouette, all of which she tends to favour.

For that alone, I was drawn to the look.

But, given the crush of colourful embellishment already enlivening the dress, the jewels were completely unnecessary as they competed for the spotlight. Then again, Nicki was never one to be a minimalist.

Nicki Minaj In Vex Latex – 2017 MTV VMAs

I was under the impression that Nicki Minaj had shelved her cartoonish red carpet looks, but that wasn’t the case at the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday (August 27).

The rapper donned two custom Vex Latex looks; one in tribute to her Harajuku Barbie alter ego, the other to NFL referees.

While you might be thinking she looks ridiculous, I’m thinking she must have sweat buckets in these restrictive outfits.

Nicki Minaj Heads To Drizzy’s NBA Awards After-Party In Roberto Cavalli

After taking to the stage to perform at the 2017 NBA Awards, Nicki MInaj was seen heading to Drizzy’s NBA Awards After-Party on Monday (June 26) in New York City.

Interpreting a Roberto Cavalli Fall 2017 frock with her own style personality, she wore a sunny yellow incarnation of the frilled and ruffled mini.

The romantic undertones of the design turned more rapper-sultry in a flash, as she further Minaj’ified the look with over-the-knee lace-up heels.

The extra-long locks are fine for the stage, but here they just seemed to get in the way of the look. Would you agree?

Nicki Minaj In Roberto Cavalli Couture – 2017 amfAR Gala Cannes

Nicki Minaj was one of the surprise attendees at the amfAR Gala Cannes, held on Thursday (May 25) during the 2017 Cannes Film Festival.

If you looked at this Roberto Cavalli Couture gown and had a case of deja vu, you’re not alone.

That’s because this gown looks like very Met Gala, Billboard Awards, MTV Music Awards, BET Awards and American Music Awards gown she’s ever worn.

Time to hit the refresh button.

Nicki Minaj In H&M – 2017 Met Gala

Nicki Minaj went for broke at the 2017 Met Gala with a truly over-the-top look on Monday (May 1).

The singer wore a custom H&M gown, which left many people saying, really? H&M?

Here I have been complaining about people not leaning in to the night’s theme enough, and now we have Nicki, and I’m still not happy. There is just way too much going on here, and I find it to be very tastelessly executed.

The asymmetry, the kimono-inspired detailing, the beading, the train, the belt–I am super confused. Is she a super hero? A video game vixen? A lingerie model? It’s all too much, and I simply can’t stand it.

Let me hear from you: Am I being too harsh on this get-up?
