I LOVED this asymmetrical Christian Siriano Spring 2010 marine blue gown with bubble skirt when I saw it presented on the runway during New York Fashion Week, and I prayed that the wearer would do it justice.

Veronica Webb my goosebumps say ‘yes you did’.

The model paired her dress with Martin Katz jewels and a large silver clutch.

BDOTW contender for sure.

Emmy Rossum attended the Marchesa Spring 2010 presentation during New York Fashion Week, but she opted for a stunning ivory one-shouldered gown from the Resort 2010 collection which had a stunning embroidered bodice.

She looks every inch the snow white princess, I bet she feels like in this stunning gown.

JoAnna Garcia wore a scarlet red Alberta Ferretti strapless gown which looked amazing against her bronze skin-tone.

The shoes I’m not so crazy about, and the look feels like it’s lacking something, like a clutch or some jewels.

Iman is unbelievable wearing a deep purple sequined Donna Karan plunging dress.

Unbelievably drop-dead-gorgeous.  I’m almost lost for words.

I’ve had this blog for over 2 years now, and she has never faltered.   If anything she just gets better and better.

*bows*

All the leaves are brown, and the sky is grey but that doesn’t mean Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis shouldn’t stick to red carpet rule number 2. “No Coats On The Red Carpet”.

Now I will constantly wonder about Natalie’s sketched Chanel dress, and who designed Mila’s LBD under her white coat.

“The Burning Plain” Los Angeles Premiere

It was always going to be a hard choice to pick the BDOTW, and now Charlize Theron has walked the red carpet glowing in a mustard Christian Dior Fall 2009 chiffon dress.

The amazing dress - which complements her skin-tone - has gold embroidery details on the shoulders and a matching gold belt.

The actress pairs her dress with matching Dior heels and a gold studded clutch.

“The Burning Plain” New York Premiere

For the New York premiere Charlize Theron wore a teal blue Givenchy Resort 2010 dress.

I wasn’t particularly crazy about the dress on the runway, as it had too much going on around the neckline.

Charlize simplified the dress, paired it with some ivory Givenchy heels and a black Bottega Veneta clutch for another stunningly effortless look.

“Jennifer’s Body” Hot Topic Fan Event, LA

I love Amanda Seyfried’s Marc Jacobs Resort 2010 look.

It has a chic Parisian feel to it with it’s prim and proper style.

The navy cropped jacket with black trims, is paired with black silk shorts, black pumps and a bedazzling clutch.

Like Lindsay Lohan, Megan Fox is never at home because she’s always working the red carpet.

This time she opts for a charming dusky rose  Antonio Berardi Fall 2009 dress with a ruffle cascading down the hip.

She pairs her look with gold Brian Atwood pumps - which I don’t think work well with the dress - and a Judith Leiber clutch.

“Love And Other Impossible Pursuits” Screening, Toronto Film Festival

Natalie Portman braved a cold night to bring a bit of the tropics to Toronto, by wearing a colourful strapless Lanvin fuschia dahlia floral print mini dress.

I LOVE the colour of this dress, the slight rise and fall nature of the skirt and the rosette detail on the bust.

“Love And Other Impossible Pursuits” Press Conference, Toronto Film Festival

For the press conference black wide legged pants and a floral Chloé Resort 2010 blouse, was a simple but cute look for the actress off the red carpet.

May 10th, 2009

What a magnificent way to start the week, with an amazing burst of colour.

Michelle Obama wore a Michael Kors magenta wool crepe gown, with an exquisite necklace, which had a magenta matching floral piece.

This is the second time within a week, Mrs. Obama has worn Michael Kors. The black gown she wore to the TIME 100 Gala last Tuesday in New York, was also by the American designer.

Kerry Washington arrived wearing a navy blue pleated J.Mendel Fall 2009 strapless gown, with stunning gold accessories.

The gown had a tiered peplum at the waist, and a mermaid hem.

I don’t think this is the most flattering dress for Kerry - especially from the long shot - but she still makes it work.

This taupe one-shouldered Versace Pre-Fall 2009 gown is simply gorgeous, as it skims the well toned body of Demi Moore.

Her look was complete with a matching Roger Vivier clutch, with sparkles with the embellished details on her gown.

Katie Holmes opted an ivory ensemble, including a blazer, satin top, and full-length skirt, from her co-designed Holmes-Yang collection.

Her event appropriate look was accented with gold Boucheron accessories.

Eva Longoria wore a frothy gown, with tiny spaghetti straps in this seasons hottest colour -nude.

The Ports 1961 gown is outstanding, but it feels like it’s completely swamping Eva’s tiny frame.

Mariska Hargitay wore an off-the-shoulder Carolina Herrera Spring 2009 black, white and grey lace chiffon gown, covered in floral appliqués.

Her sweeping updo, gave this gown the final touch of elegance, to complete this perfect look.

Alicia Keys wore a black and white Narciso Rodriguez Spring 2009 cocktail dress, with the signature black criss cross detail on the bodice.

Alicia lets the dress speak for itself, by only adding a black clutch to complete her look.

Amber Tamblyn would have been the center of attraction, wearing a vivid red Carolina Herrera Spring 2009 gown.

I love the way the ruffles cascade down the gown, plus the ruby drop earrings, but she lets herself down with her hair.

Natalie Portman wore a very interesting black Balenciaga Fall 2004 halter-neck gown.

The halter part is attached to the rest of the dress with 2 very thin straps.

Keisha Whitaker arrived with her husband Forest Whitaker, also wearing a vivid red gown, from the Badgley Mischka Pre-Fall 2009 collection.

Rashida Jones wore a LBD with flutter sleeves, and a ruffled detail going across the skirt.

She completes her look with a silver jewels, and Manolo Blahnik Pepe sandals.

Say what you want about Donatella Versace, for me she’s always impeccable.

This outstanding paillette covered nude self designed halter gown, is case in point. Already a contender for Best Dressed Of The Week.

Elizabeth Banks opted for a very subtle, understated look, wearing a teal one-shouldered Alberta Ferretti gown, accented with a silver bejeweled belt, which matched her leaf earrings and box clutch.

Tyra Banks’ look was too office chic for me. In a room full of luscious gowns, I expected much more from her.

I will say that her hair is a huge improvement from the Met Gala last week.

Glenn Close was so graceful wearing a white Giorgio Armani Spring 2005 gown, covered with black Asian text.

Wanda Sykes was one of the guest speakers of the night. She arrived in a navy blue silk suit, and her trademark hairstyle.

She had the guests rolling on the floor with laughter with her risky jokes. You can watch the video’s here.

Best Dressed Award
I was not particular wowed by many on the red carpet tonight, but Freida Pinto definitely stood out in her blue John Galliano Spring 2009 gown.

I loved the one shoulder long sleeve gown with the all lace, beading, embroidery and tulle. It was so pretty.

The gown was perfect for her, as it feels Indian inspired.

She completed her look with a Judith Leiber clutch.

Best Couture Award
OK Sarah Jessica Parker’s Christian Dior Haute Couture gown, did make her look like a fairy princess, but it’s that what we all want to see on the red carpet? Fantasy and Fairy tales?

I love the boost this gown gave her, and I love the embroidered bodice.

The only downside for me was the hair. One of her classic high buns would have looked so great with this dress.

Her jewels were Fred Leighton and her clutch is Ferragamo.

I love how cute her and Matthew Broderick looked so happy on the red carpet.

Back To Her Best Award
Of everyone on the red carpet tonight, I was most worried about Anne Hathaway. Her red carpet style has been underwhelming lately, so I prepared myself for the worst.

I was releived when Anne walked the red carpet wearing this gorgeous ivory Armani Privé Spring 2009 gown that was covered in clear paillettes. The gown moved so perfectly when she walked the red carpet.

Even thought I love the gown, I did prefer it on the runway, without the silver embellished band on the top of the bodice.

Her stunning jewels are by Cartier.

Best Use Of Colour Award
Whilst a lot of actress opted for neutral colours, Natalie Portman opted for this stunning pink Rodarte chiffon strapless gown.

I wasn’t crazy about the make-up, but the gown overall ruled.

Just OK Award
Taraji P. Henson has had a great Awards season, and although I do like this ivory Roberto Cavalli gown on her, I expected a bit more from her.

The Fred Leighton necklace is outstanding, and the Mary Norton red bag, adds some colour, but I feel like this is just OK.

On The Fence Award
Marion Cotillard was my girl crush of last awards season. Since then she seemed to disappear off the face of the earth, and the few appearances she did make left me underwhelmed.

Her Christian Dior Fall 2008 Couture gown has been modified from the runway, but I feel like I love the gown more than her in the gown.

Hard To Pull It Off, But She Did Award
Marisa Tomei didn’t pick an easy gown.

I went back and forth as to whether I liked this one-shouldered Versace Atelier silvery grey satin organza gown.

The final verdict was yes, as I became mesmerized by the pleated details.

Her jewels were Van Cleef & Arpels.

Most Improved Award
It’s not black, or brown, or by Azzedine Alaia, so Penelope Cruz finally earned her place on the Best Dressed list.

She wore a vintage Pierre Balmain Haute Couture gown. I loved the print on the gown, which looked like lace.

Her jewels are Chopard.

Best Custom Gown
Queen Latifah attended Georges Chakra’s Spring 2009 couture show in Paris recently to work with the designer.

The result was this amazing navy dutchess satin gown with tulle train, and Swarovski crystal embroidery around the neckline and on the hip.

Fit for a Queen.

I Know You Hate It, But I Love It Award
Tilda Swinton is like Marmite. You either love her or hate her.

I personally love her edgy style, despite her disappointing me at the Berlin Film Festival.

After her win last year, the British actress was a presenter last night. I loved her Lanvin Pre-Fall 2009 sand-colored matte silk satin draped blouse, which she wore with an elegant black duchesse satin long evening skirt with gathered detailing.

Golden Girl Award
Viola Davis has been wearing a lot of David Meister lately, so I was surprise when she switched to Reem Acra for her gown last night.

Surprised, but not disappointed because she looked radiant. I’m always mesmerized by her skin, because she glows.

Lady In Red Award
There were 4 red gowns on the red carpet last night, but Virginia Madsen’s Kevan Hall strapless gown was the one I really liked.

I love that origami fold on the front, and her silky silhouette.

Her shoes were Rene Caovilla, her jewels by Loree Rodkin and her clutch was by Katherine Baumann.

Most Classic Award
Meryl Steep was stunning wearing an off-the-shoulder Alberta Ferretti gown.

She is glowing.

Her clutch is by Ferragamo.

Best Couple Award
I know I am always macking on Diane Lane and Josh Brolin, but I adore them together.

She also wore a Dolce & Gabbana strapless mermaid gown, but the style was very different from Melissa George’s well worn gown.

Beyonce Will Be Jealous Award
If Beyonce had not been force to wear that House of Dereon Couture gown her mother created, this is the gown she would have wanted to wear, as it’s dripping with bling.

Instead Leslie Mann picked this stunning platinum Pamella Roland Fall 2009 gown, which was one of my favourite gowns presented at New York Fashion Week last week.

January 27th, 2009

January Jones was by far the best dressed at this event. I love this girl, she is fearless on the red carpet, and never plays it safe.

The actress wore a strapless pink beaded Elie Saab Fall 2008 Couture dress, which was not only a great fit, but was also a fantastic colour for her.

She matched her make-up to her dress, and her silver Jimmy Choo peep-toes to her jewelry, in what has to be one of her best looks.

Definitely up for Best Dressed this week.

The gorgeous Freida Pinto looked superb wearing a nude draped Donna Karan Resort 2009 gown, with a gold sparkling Leiber clutch.

Her make-up was flawless.

Taraji P. Henson is very much one to take notice of, as she has been making a lot of great choices on the red carpet lately.

For this event she wore a gorgeous black and white print Angel Sanchez Spring 2009 dress which had a large black sash folded across the front of her dress.

She wore black pumps with it and a red satin clutch to complete her look.

The forever elegant Laura Linney wore a black one-shouldered Michael Kors belted dress.

She completed the look with black strappy sandals, and gold accessories.

I was not at all enamored by Natalie Portman’s look.

She wore a semi-transparent blue dress with a pink sash tied to the waist, with black heels and a bronze clutch.

I remember a time when Catherine Zeta-Jones used to wow me every time she stepped onto the red carpet. Now she just kinda blends in with everyone else.

The Welsh actress joined her hubby Michael Douglas on the red carpet wearing a Monique Lhuillier one-shouldered draped dress, and gold t-bar Sergio Rossi heels.

Debra Messing this time kept things simple wearing a black longs sleeved dress which had a bow detail on the front and embellished cuffs.

She continued the simple look with black patent pumps.

November 11th, 2008

Every morning when I am looking at the pictures of events from the previous night, I am always looking to say wow. I had two moment like that today, and the first was Nicole Kidman.

I am not sure you will all love the ice queen in her stunning spaghetti strapped L’Wren Scott Spring 2009 ice white gown, with jeweled detail on the empire-waist, but I absolutely adore her here.

She is so statuesque, regal even. I came imagine jaws were dropping all night.

Along with Ali Larter, Nicole is up for Best Dressed this week.

And if you think the front is amazing, look at the detail on the back.

Kate Bosworth did not opt for a stunning gown, but the affects are just the same.

Her black tuxedo-style Chanel dress with a white bib, was amazing and sophisticated enough for her stand on the same red carpet as Nicole Kidman.

I do not think there has ever been a time when I was not impressed with Natalie Portman.

She appears to be a quiet shy retiring type, but girlfriend knows how to master the red carpet, and she did so again, wearing a black Jolibe Fall 2008 dress with a sequined panel going down the front, and folds on the skirt.

She completed her look with a pair of pom pom shoes, which she also owns in purple.

There was a time when America Ferrera would wear nothing but black. Thank god those days appear to be over as the Ugly Betty actress took to the red carpet last night wearing a multi-coloured sleeved Oscar de la Renta Pre-Fall 2008 embroidered dress.

Love the dress, not so crazy about the Amy Wino hair ‘do, which she has sported before.

Sarah Michelle Gellar opted against her bangs, which she sported last week in favour of a messy up ‘do.

Like many women at this event she opted for a white dress. This dress was by Vicente Villarin Spring 2009

The beaded detail on Selita Ebanks’ dress is the most interesting detail on her grey gown with a black overlay.

I love the way she constantly adapts her crop. I wish I had the guts to go for the chop.

What is up with young Hollywood?

Taylor Swift should be trying to give people like Natalie Portman a run for her money, but instead she opts for a long, plain, boring black gown.

Taylor is usually very impressive on the red carpet so I am a touch, sorry very disappointed in this effort.

When she rocks, she rocks, and Fergie rock it last night.

The singer arrived looking sweet and innocent wearing an amazing white Michael Kors gown, with a jeweled bodice. Can’t wait to see this girls wedding gown.

You may have noticed that Fergie has put on a bit of weight. The singer put on 13 pounds to play a character named Saraghina in the upcoming movie musical Nine.

Debra Messing is not often on the red carpet, and she rarely gets it wrong. On this occasion, I think she did, as this Ralph Lauren Fall 2008 dress does anything for her at all.

Despite it being just a black dress by Gucci, I do like it on Tyra Banks as for once she is toned down and not over the top.

This is not my favourite look for Jane Krakowski. I think it is her hair, because her strapless Philosophy Di Alberta Ferretti satin bustier dress is a gorgeous berry colour.

October 28th, 2008

Someone commented on the lack of Camilla Belle sightings on the red carpet recently, and our prays have been answered, because she is back, and how.

The actress is an absolute knock-out, wearing a forest green fitted Armani dress, with black peep-toes.

I love the new hair cut, and red lips really makes her glow.

Another one of my red carpet darlings, Amy Adams, did not let me down.

She wore a beautiful strapless Oscar de la Renta Resort 2009 dress, with yellow, orange, red and chocolate brushstroke sequined details, and a chocolate trim.

The sleek haired actress, completed her look with tan heels.

Jamie King is wearing a stunning sunburst floral Christian Dior Resort 2009 strapless dress, but she really lets herself down with the black pumps.

I think I love Natalie Portman’s pom pom purple pumps, more than her Giambattista Valli dress.

Jennifer Love Hewitt if you are going to wear a dress this stunning, step away from your man for 5 mins, so we can see it, in all its splendor.

Kristin Scott Thomas keeps her look sophisticated and modern, with a strapless on trend black jumpsuit.

Angelina Jolie one word…boring.
