Monica Brown In Alexander McQueen – 2012 BET Awards

Monica Brown was one of the many performers who paid tribute to the late Whitney Houston at the 2012 BET Awards yesterday evening.

Her emotional rendition of Whitney’s gospel classic ‘I Love The Lord’ even had Soulja Boy shedding a tear.

Monica performed her tribute wearing an Alexander McQueen Spring 2010 dress from the ‘Plato Atlantis’ collection; the last produced by the late designer.

As a long-time fan of Alexander McQueen it’s not a surprise that she opted to wear this dress featuring a kaleidoscopic snakeskin print, v-neck and cap sleeves.

What is a surprise is to see this look as a rise-and-fall gown, as only mini dresses were presented in this print.

Opting to keep the same hairstyle she wore on the red carpet, she added nude pumps to her look.

2012 BET Awards

The 2012 BET Awards was held at The Shrine Auditorium in LA on Sunday evening with several stars taking to the red carpet.

Selita Ebanks: The model sported a sexy, futuristic look wearing a Falguni and Shane Peacock dress with Giuseppe Zanotti shoes. The silver clutch doesn’t work for me, even with the silver bead work on her dress, but the rest of her look scores highly.

La La Vazquez-Anthony: The TV personality opted for a ‘Studio 54-esque’ look wearing a shimmering Lois London jumpsuit. Her top-notch styling included a vintage Versace belt, Jimmy Choo heels and complementary Loren Ridinger jewels. A side-swept ponytail completed her look.

Monica Brown: The singer looked sensational rocking a berry-coloured look which featured a structured blazer and sequin pants.

Us Weekly Hot Hollywood Style Event

The Us Weekly Hot Hollywood Style Event took place at the Greystone Manor Supperclub in West Hollywood, California, last night.

Busy Philipps: The ‘Cougar Town’ actress is frustratingly inconsistent on the red carpet. She wore an Opening Ceremony dress with a shirt collar, printed top, and striped skirt accented with an orange belt. I would’ve liked to have seen this dress on someone like Lily Collins or Emma Roberts as the look feels too busy – pardon the pun – for the blonde actress. A high ponytail and Alexander McQueen shoes completed her look.

Jennifer Morrison: The actress is almost unrecognisable with flaming red hair à la Florence Welch. She was the one exception, wearing a pretty Andrew Gn Spring 2012 strapless dress. Usually one to wear light summery hues, I’m guessing this dark, mysterious look was to work with her new persona.

Olivia Munn: The actress wore a simple black ASOS midi tank body-conscious dress. She accessorized with a Stella & Dot divine statement necklace and carried a Linea Pelle clutch. I loved the look until I got to the black Gucci ankle boots. Stumptifying.

Who Wore Burberry Prorsum Better? Kate Bosworth or Monica

By total coincidence Kate Bosworth and Monica wore the same Burberry Prorsum cropped leather jacket on the same day.

Kate technically wore it first as she was in London for the Burberry Prorsum Fall 2011 presentation.

She paired her jacket with a studded and spiked skirt and quilted booties from Burberry.

Monica wore her jacket to the 1st Annual Cartoon Network’s “Hall Of Game” Awards in Santa Monica, California.

Her look was more casual. She wore denim leggings, a simple white top, snake skin Christian Louboutin ‘Lady Daf’ triple stacked platform heels and an Alexander McQueen scarf.

Both girls totally rocked this look, but I’m going to give this win to Monica for her effortless approach to putting together this look.

Runway To The 2010 BET Awards Stage

Queen Latifah was the gracious host of the 2010 BET Awards, so she had several wardrobe changes.

One of her looks was a beautiful Edition by Georges Chakra Spring 2010 gown.

She looked stunning in her black crepe fitted gown with silver stone embellished shoulder details.

Monica shut it down wearing a black Alexandre Vauthier Spring 2010 Couture dress.

I know many of you are o.v.e.r bold shoulders, but I thinks this is one fierce look.

I love the pussy bow to add a touch of chic elegance.

Despite not being a fan of thigh-high boots, I think they work perfectly with her dress.

Keyshia Cole rocked the stage wearing a black sleeveless top with a tomato red Willow Fall 2010 asymmetric draped tulle skirt.

“The Tonight Show With Jay Leno” – Monica In Gucci

Monica new album “Still Standing” is currently #1 on the Billboard Hip-Hop/R&B charts and is #2 (under Justin Bieber’s “My World 2.0″) on the Billboard 200 albums chart.

Monica not only continues to promote her new album , but she also continues to show us that she has great style.

She looked stunning as she performed her latest single “Everything to Me” on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” this week.

Her Gucci Spring 2010 black dress had cut-out details on the waist which was accented with the Gucci trademark metal embroidery.

I love Monica’s sensible non-try-hard/’look what I can afford’ approach to fashion.

It’s really refreshing for an R&B diva.
