Glamour Women of the Year Awards 2013 - Red Carpet Arrivals

The Saturdays attended the Glamour Women of the Year Awards 2013 on Tuesday evening and surprisingly it was Mollie King who was my least favourite of the group.

Mollie King: On the right person this Louis Heal red illusion gown would’ve worked, but Mollie is way too vanilla for this look.

Vanessa White: Wearing an Amen Couture long-sleeved embellished mini dress, all I can focus on are the twins.

Una Healy: The singer also wore an Amen Couture gown. Her purple embellished strapless gown was styled with screen-siren wavy tresses.

Frankie Sandford: The mother-to-be gave her new longer locks a red carpet debut. She opted for a bump-reavling fitted Halston Heritage black gown with a chiffon skirt, to which she added an orange patterned clutch to add some colour to her look.

If I had to pick a favourite it would be Frankie. Do you have a favourite? Or is that a stupid question?

RADIO 1 BIG WEEKEND DAY 2

The Saturdays were pictured backstage during Day 2 of BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend in Derry, Northern Ireland on Saturday.

Opting to wear an exotic mix of prints and colours, mostly from Kenzo, you would think a print-loving person like myself would be over the moon; sadly, it was more like an assault on the eyes, as there was just too much going on without much thought or consideration.

Una Healy: The mother of one was probably the best of a bad bunch, selecting a black vest top styled with a turquoise leopard-print fringed skirt and gladiator wedges.

Vanessa White: Also wearing Kenzo, I could’ve lived with the red top, Kenzo leopard-print skirt and ankle strap heels; however, the green cropped jacket was one step too far.

Mollie King: Probably the worst offender here, which is shocking as she’s usually the best dressed of the group. Her maroon clouded-leopard-print Kenzo skirt was styled with a yellow fringed crop top, a fuchsia-pink bra and black ankle boots. None of the pieces work together.

Frankie Sandford: The latest pregnant star of the group was the only one who didn’t rock Kenzo, opting for a butterfly-print McQ Alexander McQueen mini dress styled with a purple leather jacket.

Girls just wanna have fun, or car-crash couture?

Saturday Number One BBC

After all the fuss about The Saturdays in the press, I was surprised to learn that their latest single, ‘What About Us’, was the first number one single for the girl group. I guess with the non-stop publicity from the Daily Mail and the reality TV show, ‘Chasing the Saturdays’, it was bound to finally happen.

They celebrated by getting dressed up and standing outside BBC Radio 1 studios in London for a photocall.

Mollie King: Always known as the best dressed of the group, Mollie wore a sporty findersKEEPERs LWD with tonal textures and a layered asymmetrical hem, which she styled with an Aspinal of London ‘Mollie’ satchel, which was named after the preppy popstar, and super-stacked KG Kurt Geiger ‘Nanette’ sandals.

Vanessa White: The singer – who I’ve spotted a few times in my Bikram Yoga classes – wore a Karen Millen tailored LBD with a peplum waist, which defined her curves. She styled her look with an AllSaints python clutch and Giuseppe Zanotti cut-out booties.

Una Healy: She appears to be the most excited about their first ever number one single. She wore a Three Floor ‘Trophy’ dress with a triangle cut-out detail, which is very much on trend. Her dress features gold-tone grommet embellishments, embossed leather trims and a wrap-around skirt. Black pumps completed her look.

Rochelle Humes: The singer wrapped up her baby bump, wearing a black ASOS skater dress with a sheer yoke and sleeves, and contrast collar and cuffs. She styled her look with a pair of black-and-beige Alice + Olivia pumps, which we’ve seen her wear a few times before.

Frankie Sandford: Dressed in a Maje ‘Anaig’ dress, the frock featured a white zipper front, contrast black waistband and metallic jacquard skirt. Nude Louboutins and a French Connection ‘Pyramid’ clutch completed her look.

Which look was your favourite?

It’s between Mollie and Rochelle for me.

The Saturdays Visit The Empire State Building

The Saturdays are back over in the US as they continue to “crack America” by making a guest appearance on the Wendy Williams Show and having a photocall at the Empire State Building to promote their music and reality TV show, ‘Chasing The Saturdays’.

Una Healy: The red-haired singer wore a printed blouse with houndstooth-print shorts and a black blazer with leather sleeves. Zara studded booties and a black Topshop hat completed her look.

Vanessa White: Keeping warm under a fur-lined black suede coat, she wore a cheeky Lazy Oaf ‘Hearts Boobs’ long-sleeved top with a short leather skirt and Rihanna for River Island lace-up booties.

Mollie King: Looking the most summery of the group, Mollie wore a white-and-gold printed crop top with a Topshop peach lace-overlay pelmet skirt with zipper details. Simple caramel pumps completed her look.

Frankie Sandford: Standing out in a lime-green River Island blouse, the singer styled it with black jeans, red Charlotte Olympia platform pumps and a grey hat. She killed this look with her accessories.

Rochelle Wiseman: The pregnant star was my favourite of this troop, mostly because she didn’t appear to be trying so hard like her band mates. Her baby-bump-concealing black look was styled with a grey coat and striped pumps.

Which, if any, do you like?

Mollie King was the first to wear this Julien Macdonald Spring 2011 floral dress to the ‘Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows Part 2’ world premiere in London way back in July of last year.

The Saturdays singer styled her petal-print silk-chiffon dress with a rise-and-fall hemline with Nicholas Kirkwood two-tone python peep-toes, a tan belt and a beige clutch.

Alesha Dixon rocked the same summery dress to the Women of the Year Awards with a pair of gold Jimmy Choo ‘Virginia’ sandals and a matching gold clutch.

Mollie’s skinny tan belt and white shoes don’t do the Julien Macdonald dress any favours so Alesha wins for me.
