Mollie King In Dolce & Gabbana – InStyle Best Of British Talent Pre-BAFTA Party

Mollie King In Dolce & Gabbana - InStyle Best Of British Talent Pre-BAFTA Party

Mollie King joined Natalie Dormer and Anna Friel on the red carpet at InStyle magazine’s ‘The Best of British Talent’ Pre-BAFTA party held at Dartmouth House on Tuesday (February 4) in London.

The ‘Saturdays’ singer kept it simple in classic black and white, wearing a Dolce & Gabbana satin dress with a lace print, with minimal styling including black pumps.

An updo with face-framing tendrils and glossy lips completed her look.

Do you like this fairly conservative party look, or do you wish she’d amped it up a bit?

Cosmopolitan Ultimate Women of the Year Awards Red Carpet Roundup

Cosmopolitan Ultimate Women of the Year Awards

Here is a roundup of the rest of the attendees at the Cosmopolitan Ultimate Women of the Year Awards held at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London yesterday evening.

Ellie Goulding: The singer sported a barely there makeup look, wearing a dual-colour ivory-and-white Dolce & Gabbana strapless frock with a corseted bodice and velvet skirt accented with a satin waistband. Does her makeup wash her out?

Paloma Faith: The one person we can usually rely on for a bit of colour and plenty of drama opted for a very demure look by her standards, wearing a black velvet Stella McCartney long-sleeved frock with embroidered sleeves, which she styled with all-black accessories.

Mollie King: There’s something about Mollie that hasn’t quite been working for me of late. The best-dressed member of The Saturdays kept it super simple, wearing a black Dolce & Gabbana shift dress with black pumps that reads boring to me. A statement necklace would’ve made a world of difference, as that Silvia Furmanovich cuff and cocktail ring aren’t enough to pique my interest.

Mollie King In Gucci – Harper’s Bazaar Woman Of The Year Awards 2013

Mollie King In Gucci - Harper’s Bazaar Woman Of The Year Awards 2013

Mollie King attended the Harper’s Bazaar Women of the Year Awards held at Claridges Hotel in London yesterday evening alongside Victoria Beckham, Rita Ora and Cate Blanchett.

The Saturdays singer is usually the better dresser of all the girls, but on this occasion I’m totally perplexed by her look.

While I love her Gucci Fall 2013 contrast-print houndstooth and Prince-of-Wales-check dress with a sexy black neck panel, this dress couldn’t be more wrong for her.

Yes, she has every right to experiment outside the what-is-expected-of-a-girl-band Topshop, AQ/AQ and Three Floor mini frocks, but this dress would look better on a grown woman.

By that I mean a Jessica Chastain, Nicole Kidman or Cate Blanchett; they possess the poise and confidence to carry this look.

On Mollie it ages her, drastically, but I appreciate the effort.

A sweeping updo and Gucci ‘Lili’ sandals completed her look.

The Saturdays In Christopher Kane – Poppy Appeal Photocall

Poppy Appeal - Launch Photocall

Four of The Saturdays (Rochelle Humes, Vanessa White, Mollie King and Una Healy – the fifth, Frankie Sandford, is on maternity leave having given birth to a baby boy last week) attended a photocall to launch this year’s Poppy Appeal at RAF Northolt in Ruislip, England yesterday afternoon.

Often they dress like five girls pulled in off the street, but yesterday there was finally some cohesion in terms of their look as they jumped on two trends – the vinyl trend and the current love for Christopher Kane’s ‘Brain Scan’ printed pieces.

The only one who kept it 100% black was Vanessa, wearing a black dress with a mesh yoke and vinyl skirt.

Rochelle was the most covered up, wearing the most inappropriate shoes for her funky, youthful look. Mollie was, of course, wearing a crop top, with Una over-accessorizing just a tad, adding a statement necklace to her vinyl bustier, studded belt and brain-scan skirt combo.

Anyone here catch your eye for the right reasons? Or is your opinion of The Saturdays consistent: they just try too hard.

The Saturdays – 2013 Pride of Britain Awards

Pride Of Britain Awards - Red Carpet Arrivals

Una Healy, Vanessa White, Mollie King and Rochelle Humes from the Saturdays attended the Pride of Britain Awards held at Grosvenor House in London yesterday evening.

As usual, there was just no cohesion, which resulted in yet another assault to the eyeballs.

Una Healy: Her Amen Couture patterned frock is easily my least favourite here. I find the print really garish and the fit is terrible on the upper part of the frock.

Vanessa White: The singer was easily the best dressed here, looking sultry in a sexy black frock with a plunging neckline and thigh-high slit.

Mollie King: Usually the one I look to to give me a great moment from this troop, the pretty singer failed in this Amen Couture nude-and-black lace-accented tiered gown which is granny chic personified.

Rochelle Humes: I’m not sure what is going on here. This nude Yuvna Kim Spring 2014 gown doesn’t complement her skin tone.

Do you have a favourite?
