Who Wore Valentino Better Miroslava Duma or Golshifteh Farahani

Miroslava Duma wore this electric-blue Valentino wool dress with scalloped detailing when she took her front row seat during the Valentino Fall 2013 Couture show back in July.

Even with the pop of red to the lips, the overall styling was too sombre for my taste and by her standards.

Golshifteh Farahani gave this dress a second run out not long after while attending the photocall for the 2013 Venice Film Festival.

Her styling wasn’t great either, adding silver Roger Vivier Virgule ‘Comma’ pumps and a blue Roger Vivier bag, but it’s much preferred over Miroslava’s so Golshifteh wins for me.

Christian Dior Fall 2013 Moscow Show

Raf Simons presented his Christian Dior Fall 2013 collection to the women of Russia yesterday.

Natalia Vodianova: Russia’s first lady of fashion was of course in attendance, wearing a pretty pink Dior double-breasted pant suit with a Lady Dior bag, white sandals and signature barely there makeup.

Miroslava Duma: The fashion editor, who recently returned from Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week, wasn’t showing any fashion week fatigue, looking lovely in her second Dior Resort 2014 dress, which ironically supersedes the Fall 2013 collection she was probably watching for the second time. Her colourful panelled and black-lace sleeveless dress was styled with black pumps with blue toe-caps and a red clutch. You may remember that Charlene, Princess of Monaco wore this same dress almost immediately after it was presented on the runway with a blue-lace panel.

Ravshana Kurkova: There were many other socialites who attended this event, but Ravshana caught my eye. She styled her Dior Pre-Fall 2013 hoop skirt – which we’ve seen three times in coral and once in blue – with a Peter Pilotto Resort 2013 yellow sleeveless jacquard-silk blouse with swirling sequin embellishments and a contrasting white collar (seen on Jada Pinkett-Smith). Since many of us are fatigued by this skirt already, I really appreciate the way she refreshed this look, especially with those delightful yellow sandals.

Who Was Your Best Dressed At Couture Week

Two ladies stood head and shoulders above all the fashionistas in the front row of Haute Couture fashion week: Miroslava Duma and Pace Wu.

The petite Russian fashion editor gave us an array of colourful looks ranging from a mini dress from Camilla and Marc, to a colourful Dior frock, denim shorts paired with a smart Chanel jacket, a sexy Jason Wu two-piece look, a flirty floral frock, and a sophisticated Fendi ensemble.

Pace Wu kept to a very neutral colour palette during the week, wearing white or nude frocks, starting with a fairytale-like Giambattista Valli strapless Couture gown and progressing through a ladylike Ulyana Sergeenko Couture frock, a one-shoulder Lanvin dress, a sheer Elie Saab dress and a ruffled Viktor & Rolf gown. The only other colour she opted for was a blue Ulyana Sergeenko gown with a familiar neckline.

Looking back, I love the variety of colour and the daring looks displayed by Miroslava, so she takes the crown for Couture Week Queen.

Whose looks did you prefer?

Fendi Opening Party & 'The Glory Of Water', Karl Lagerfeld's Exhibition Preview

Fendi held a party on Avenue Montaigne in Paris, France to celebrate the opening of a new store, which was followed by ‘The Glory Of Water’, Karl Lagerfeld’s exhibition preview yesterday evening.

Miroslava Duma: The fashion editor, who had attended the Elie Saab and Valentino shows earlier in the day, showed the brand some love by wearing brown leather culottes from their Spring 2013 collection with a taupe sleeveless silk top and strappy sandals. I love the addition of the quirky Fendi tri-colour cube clutch to add a fun talking-point piece to her sophisticated look. A hot-red lip colour and her favourite necklace provided the finishing touches.

Naomie Harris: Opting for a sculptural Fendi frock, the British actress donned a white texturized sleeveless dress with a central slit and peplum detail. Continuing her love for ankle boots, which I first noticed during her ‘Skyfall’ promo tour, she wore black Fendi patent-leather peep-toes with a white rubber pyramid-spiked heel, with a black Edie Parker ‘Jean’ clutch completing her look. Naomi has pretty much stuck to a black-and-white colour palette while attending events during Couture Week. Is it starting to get stale for you? I do not like anything here. The dress is too fussy and the shoes just don’t work.

Valentino Fall 2013 Couture Front Row

The front row of the Valentino Fall 2013 Couture presentation was nearly as drama-doused as the runway, as an array of lovelies let loose their fashion fantasies at the Hotel Salomon de Rothschild on Wednesday in Paris, France.

Olivia Palermo: Mingling hard and soft, Olivia is perhaps one of the few who can work a fluffy, frothy black tube frock, worn over a structured white button-down blouse, to her ultimate advantage. Never far from piles of accessories, she topped off her statement with a bronze and black gemstone necklace, statement cuffs, and a Valentino studded carved transparent clutch.

Zhang Ziyi: Giving us a red-haute moment, the Chinese actress stunned in a Valentino Spring 2013 Couture cape gown, worn with Christian Louboutin heels, Boucheron jewels and an Omega timepiece. The sophisticated, old-Hollywood spirit of this silhouette had me at hello.

Miroslava Duma: Many of you will be glad to see that Mira wore Valentino at the designer’s show, taking a bold step in this lapis-blue Valentino Fall 2013 frock. While her black tights and chunky-funky platform sandals could have raised some eyebrows, they really only served to draw even more attention to this retro-shift dress’s sublime saturated hue—and her red lippie.

Elie Saab Fall 2013 Couture Front Row

A group of glam-minded guests gathered to witness the sparkling, dramatic confections that floated down the runway at the Elie Saab Fall 2013 Couture show at the Palais Brongniart in Paris, France on Wednesday.

Pace Wu: The Asian beauty and red-carpet chameleon once again played the quick-change artist, casting her sporty cropped wig to the side for this sexy-romantic Elie Saab Spring 2013 dress. The solid geometric panels on the bodice edged up the sheer nude lace and flowing ballet skirt, which she paired with a silver box clutch and cream ankle-strap shoes.

Miroslava Duma: Veering away from her more style-forward entrances seen this Paris Haute-Couture Fashion Week, our FROW girl debuted a glossy, country-chic peasant dress, printed in a painterly Wedgwood blue. Matching Roger Vivier ‘Prismick’ heels put a mod spin on the floral frock. Yes, this look had charm, but I have to say that the sombre black-fringed shawl clouded what could have been a delightful little dress.

Petra Nemcova: Also feeling blue, the model snugged into a body-con Elie Saab square-neck dress. But, the positive benefits afforded by her glinting metallic-blue clutch and sandals could barely distract from the unnecessary black beads around her neck. Undoubtedly, her red-slicked smile stole the show.

Miroslava Duma In Jason Wu - Armani Privé Fall 2013 Couture Show

Miroslava Duma continued her chic streak during Paris Haute-Couture Fashion Week, joining Anna Dello Russo at the Armani Privé Fall 2013 show at Theatre National de Chaillot yesterday.

After showing us a casual-cool Chanel outing earlier in the day, the petite stylista dressed things up in a Jason Wu Resort 2014 look that she flaunted to perfection.

The midriff-baring bralette top and high-waisted pencil skirt, printed in a greyscale, scattered palm-leaf motif, had a shadowy tropical edge, which put this trendster look on the intriguing map and far from cliché territory.

Even when Mira threw over her shoulders the structured, cropped jacket in the same frond-frenzied print, the separates worked their magic.

She could have definitely lost the necklace, and I would have never missed it.
