Red Carpet Fashion Awards

I don’t think I have ever said this before in reference to Ashlee Simpson, but I LOVE what she is wearing.

Usually her look has a “I Wannabe In The Band” type of vibe to it, but here she channels a very cute, feminine summery look that I just can’t get enough of.

Her strapless shimmering champagne coloured Jill Stuart playsuit is so chic, which she pairs with pearls, a white Dolce & Gabbana clutch and grey Brian Atwood heels.

For me the best dressed at this event.

Katie Cassidy wore a modified Balenciaga leopard print dress from the Fall 2009 collection.

I love the draping detail around the hips defining the waist, with her bold multi-coloured clutch and silver strappy heels. I’m really happy black pumps are not in this picture.

I don’t know who Yvonne Strahovski is, but I knew it only took me 2 seconds to fall in love with her cute ensemble.

Her Camilla & Marc Spring 2008 striped blazer with her ivory skirt and blood red shoes has a Ralph Lauren feel to it.

Love it.

Jessica Stroup shows a bit of her sassy side wearing a shortened black strapless Rachel Roy Fall 2009 dress with lace panels.

She paired her dress with Stella McCartney black heels and a matching Sergio Rossi clutch.

I’ve loving how her bob is constantly evolving. I can barely remember how she looked with longer hair.

Jessica is neck and neck with Ashley Greene as my favourite red carpet newbie this year.

I go back and forth with everyone who wears Herve Leger. I know many of you wish these bandages dresses were burned, but some do look great.

This isn’t one of those times. Eliza Dushku is a busty lady and this type of dress doesn’t flatter.

I preferred this Herve Leger armor-trim dress on the runway with one strap rather than two, but I do love the YSL tribute sandals which complement the dress well.

Eliza also carried a bright colourful clutch.

“Lost” actress Emilie de Ravin has been MIA from the red carpet for a long while, but she makes a spectacular return wearing a beautiful ivory lace Max Azria Fall 2009 mini dress.

The runway dress is styled have more of a tougher edge, but Emile’s fully lined version appears softer although she added a studded belt to prevent her look from being too sickly sweet.

Like Alexa Chung, Cat Deeley is flying the flag for us Brits in the US but her chic style is more to my liking.

Cat wore British brands via her a white crochet Jaeger dress paired with tan Mulberry sandals.

Our English rose glows so beautifully, with clean golden locks.

Jennifer Morrison opted for a strapless orange Sonia Rykiel dress with a folded neckline and a voluminous skirt.

I love the bright colour and the cute braided hairstyle.

She pairs her look with a Raven Kauffman Couture clutch.

Miranda Cosgrove has such an infectious smile it’s hard not to love her.

The actress walked the red carpet wearing a Vena Cava Narthex tiered dress.

The brushstroke-print tiers on the bodice and hem adds a touch of colour to the cream sleeveless dress.

Dania Ramirez opted for a white Dolce & Gabbana trademark strapless bustier dress with a eyelet skirt and bright yellow heels.

Krysten Ritter wore red strappy sandals with her midnight blue Proenza Schouler quilted bustier dress.

The dress has a quilted silk charmeuse bustier with perfectly complements the voluminous pleated silk faille skirt.

Sanaa Lathan looked radiant wearing a Tadashi Shoji Fall 2009 hyacinth print chiffon one-shoulder dress.

Jordana Brewster’s Reem Acra Fall 2009 gold leaf jacquard halter dress with black belt, ensure she stood out amongst everyone else who opted for a more summery look.

Garcelle Beauvais opted for a full-length one-shouldered pale pink dress with a coral floral print.

She paired her dress with gold, a tan clutch and coral hooped earrings.

Maggie Grace is always so graceful.

I love her one-shouldered dress with a Dries van Noten Spring 2009-esqe mosaic print.

I’m really not keen on Shenae Grimes’ make-up, but her navy zipper trimmed Isabel Lu dress is cute.

Her look is paired with Miu Miu heels and a Kotour clutch.

Radha Mitchell wore a floaty floral vintage Cardinali dress and vintage KJL bangle from Decades Inc., paired with a Bottega Veneta clutch.

The white sunglasses and wedges add to the summery look she was going for.

Jessica Lucas wore a beautiful emerald one-shouldered Jay Godfrey Resort 2010 dress with a black waistband.

The “Melrose Place” actress accessorized with black pumps, a black clutch and a Swarovski bracelet.

The fashion roller coaster that is Lynn Collins takes another nose dive.

Although I do like the dress and the bright pink lips, the rest of the look feels alien the dress.

The hair is really granny-ifed and the Jeffrey Campbell Potion Ankle Boots – which are very similar to the Opening Ceremony boots – are very rock chick making this look too busy for me.

Worst Dressed Award
White sequin’s. I’ve never liked white sequin’s, as they cheapen any look.

I’m a huge fan of Miranda Cosgrove, she has such a fun loving approach to the red carpet, but on this occasion her white and gold sequined Sass & Bide Pre-Fall 2009 dress really lets her down.

Biggest Let Down Award
Looking at Cameron Diaz, I have only one question. What happened to you?

I was so looking forward to seeing Cameron upstage everyone at this event, as she usually blows us away. Remember her Luella polka dot mini?

Her look included deep rinse J Brand jeans, an animal print Matthew Williamson top, and blue suede ankle Giuseppe Zanzotti boots.

De Ja Vu/Christian Siriano Does Design More Than One Dress You Know Award
I’m so tired of seeing this Christian Siriano dress in various colours and lengths on the red carpet.

Christian has produced 2 collections, CariDee English could have really picked something else.

Despite all that, it’s a great mix of colours, but I hate her shoes.

Most Blah Award
Anna Faris doesn’t seem to get it right on the red carpet. Some times she’s too cutesy, others too casual, and on this occasion, blah.

No spark, no pizazz, no personality, and we all know she has plenty of that, which is why this is such a disappointment.

It’s Just Not Working Award
I’m always rooting for Rumer Willis, I don’t know why I have such a soft spot for her.

Maybe because I know she’s trying, but it just doesn’t seen to ever work, like with this black one-shoulder patchwork geometric print Emilio Pucci dress. Great dress, but she fails to make it work for her.

She needs to take a leaf out of Coco Rocha’s book, and go back to black.

Tights? In This Heat? Award
I love Sandra Bullock’s Abaeté Fall 2009 dress. The print reminds me off a midnight starry sky, but she can’t be seriously wearing tights.

I know I go on about tights, but they totally ruins this look for me.

I Just Can’t Take You Seriously Award
I think the title sums up how I feel about Lil Mama’s look.

Just Wish It Wasn’t Black Award
Hayden Panettiere wears such a cute Ungaro Spring 2009 dress, but come on girl, it’s summer.

Something in white, nude, or pink would have shown off her Cannes glow.

Here is the Best and the Worst from the orange carpet, at the 2009 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards.

Despite Ashley Tisdale giving us a re-run in this navy strapless Akiko Ogawa Fall 2008 embellished dress – previously worn by Hayden Panettiere – I still think she was the Best Dressed at this event.

I love everything about this look. She really made an effort, and I love how she keeps her look young, by wearing booties and not the expect Louboutin’s peep-toes.

Victoria Justice is a cute as ever, wearing a Alice + Olivia Cotton sateen rolled sleeve blazer, over her purple satin dress. She gives her look a slight edge by wearing a Streets Ahead studded belt.

Victoria completes her look with a pair of Modern Vintage Evanise ankle booties, and a large silver clutch.

Demi Lovato wore a gold bustier Ina Soltani dress, with black YSL Tribute sandals.

I love how this dress shimmers.

Miranda Cosgrove understands how to dress for this occasion, wearing a cute black 3/4 length sleeved Sonia Rykiel dress, with white hearts embellished with diamante’s.

I love the cute hair accessory.

She always has fun on the red carpet, dresses her age, and doesn’t take herself too seriously. Love her spirit.

Miley Cyrus’ Sheri Bodell gown is gorgeous, with its tiers and delicate ruffles, but it feels slightly grown up for an occasion which slimes its guests.

This is the Kids Choice Awards, Miley should have had fun wearing something young and hip.

Actress Keke Palmer matches her eyeshadow and nail polish to her eggplant Elise Øverland leather mini dress.

Love the earrings.

Brenda Song is so cute, I just want to keep her in my pocket.

The tiny cutie wore a gorgeous yellow satin dress, with intricate embroidered and studded embellishments fanning over the top half of her dress.

I love the silver belt, which compliments her dress perfectly.

Nice booties, shame about Emma Roberts’ lace blood red strapless dress. Eek.

Cameron Diaz is a regular at the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards.

She kept her look casual, yet still chic, wearing a navy and red polka dotted Micheal Kors sleeveless top, with distressed ripped 7 For All Mankind jeans.

They say supermodels can wear anything and still look good, but for Amber Valetta this gorgeous Preen Fall 2009 geometric print tunic comes off looking very maternity.

America Ferrera looked quite chic, wearing a ruched red J.Mendel dress, with batwing sleeves.

This dress was incredibly flattering on her.

Not quite sure what happened to Megan Fox here. I appreciate she dialed down the sexy for a kids awards show, but that shouldn’t be an excuse to dress like this.

Tori Spelling looks looks surprisingly good in her maxi floral dress. This is indeed a rarity.

This has to be one of the worst dressed events I have ever featured on my blog. The only person who’s head-to-toe look I liked was Kristen Cavallari, with her cute strapless ombre Rami Kashou Fall 2008 dress, peachy heels, and Mary Norton clutch.

In a room full of young girls, I am surprised they lack any real style.

Heidi Montag’s Stella McCartney dress is to be expected, which is a short and breast revealing.

Her hair looks like a bird is about to nest in it, but her Louboutin’s and Bottega Veneta Impero satin clutch are cute.

Stephanie Pratt polka dotted dress is cute, but why did she decide to cover most of it with that huge clutch?

Tamara Mowry’s purple colour co-ordination works really well. I love the draping effect on her dress.

Please can someone give Holly Montag a one-way ticket back to idiot island.

What is this look all about?

Between the make-up, gold nails, red heels and animal print dress, I am not sure which is more nauseating.

I don’t know if it’s Andrea Bowen’s pose, the dress, or the camera angle, but something’s wrong.

Miranda Cosgrove has a lot of personality, and I feel this animal print dress is showing that off, so I can’t be mad at her. Her boots look amazing too.

I am so surprised that singer Jewel make the effort put on a LBD for this D list event, it hardly look like it was worth hobbling out of bed for.

MORE FROM RED CARPET FASHION AWARDS:

Posted by Catherine Kallon on March 12th, 2009 In: Andrea Bowen, Heidi Montag, Holly Montag, Jewel, Kristin Cavallari, Miranda Cosgrove, Stephanie Pratt, Tamera Mowry

Selena Gomez arrived on the red carpet looking so cute wearing a black Luella Fall 2007 dress, with a black sash tied at the waist. The stunning sweetheart neckline dress, had a mesh overlay with black polka dots all over.

The curly hair cutie completed her look with a black pair of peep-toes.

There was a time when Vanessa Hudgens would have been the belle of this ball, now she has competition from many brunette teen stars.

Vanessa looked very different from the caftan wearing young girl, who first walked the red carpet at this annual event 2 years ago.

What I absolutely adore are her Givenchy Shoes Bird Cage Ankle Bootie.

Miranda Cosgrove, like Selena, also wore a dress from the Luella Fall 2007 collection. Same stylist me thinks.

Miranda dress was a strapless silver metallic number, which is embellished with small stones, and has a black detail on the waist, and on one-side of the bodice.

This is a nice, young, fun dress, and the prefect choice for her.

Rumer Willis has gone and undone all the hard work she did in winning us over during her appearances on the red carpet for the House Bunny Premiere.

OK the skirt is a very expensive Azzedine Alaia skirt, but with the plunging top/bodysuit, the booties, and the hair, the overall look does not work.

I really don’t like the hair colour, Rumer should stick to black, as it suits her so well.

Nickelodeon’s Victoria Justice, another brunette beauty, went against the dark colours, that everyone was wearing, and opted for a white shift dress, which she wore under a ruched leather jacket and a steel grey boots.

Emma Roberts spent most of last week going from show to show at New York Fashion Week.

Not only did she not pick up any fashion tips, but she also did not pick up free clothes judging from this black turtle neck dress. I really don’t like her grey suede booties either.

Bar Refaeli wore an olive green silk miniHurley dress, that no doubt kept the male half of Young Hollywood walking around with their chins on the floor.

Erin Wasson might not have read the invitation, which said “Teen Vogue Party”, because she arrived at this event wearing a lace micro mini dress sans bra and with her panties showing.

Those poor boys would not have known were to look.

In saying all that, she does look fabulous. Not many could pull this look off, expect Vanessa Paradis.
