Princess Beatrice In Alberta Ferretti – 2018 Met Gala

Princess Beatrice attended the 2018 Met Gala on Monday night (May 7) alongside Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Katharine McPhee and Rita Ora.

She made quite the impression at her first Costume Institute Gala in this Alberta Ferretti Fall 2018 gown. The royal purple colour will definitely not be lost, but it speaks to the theme as much as it does her background. Not to mention that it looks marvelous with her ginger locks.

Combined with the golden embellishment and Kotur clutch, it has such a poetic romance. And I’m sure it will have people wondering whether this is a direction she could go in for the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

Rihanna In Maison Margiela Artisanal by John Galliano – 2018 Met Gala

Never one to not rock a theme, Rihanna fully embraced the ‘Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination’ inspiration at the 2018 Met Gala on Monday (May 7) in New York City.

After all, as one of this year’s co-chairs, it is kind of required that she be a fashion queen of the gala.

This Maison Margiela Artisanal by John Galliano creation was a masterwork—and certainly inspired by the Pope’s garb, most notably in the miter.

Yet, there would be no Pope-like conservative modesty of form in this ornately embellished and bejeweled minidress with a built-in skirt. As RiRi has been into oversized silhouettes lately, the slouchy robe reflected that component of her style while still staying true to the look’s Catholic influence.

Maria Tash, Gilan, and Narcia Pheres jewels completed the gloriously thematic look.

Amber Heard In Carolina Herrera – 2018 Met Gala

Donning one of the expected trends of the night—the headdress—Amber Heard was also in attendance at the 2018 Met Gala on Monday (May 7) in New York City

However, it was the golden halo that precisely made this vibrant-red Carolina Herrera dress adhere to the theme.

You may think the gown quite covered-up, but it revealed to an open back and modern bustle detail that was my favourite component of the design.

While she accessorised with Jennifer Meyer jewels, I think it’s her beauty look that may be the most debated. Even from a distance, the heavy makeup could be translated as a bit overdone—and I’d argue her golden locks didn’t need any additional gold paint.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley In Ralph Lauren Collection – 2018 Met Gala

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley looked like a goddess at the 2018 Met Gala on Monday night (May 7) at The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. She graced the carpet alongside Katharine McPhee, Diane Kruger and Hailee Steinfeld.

There is definitely ethereal drama in this custom Ralph Lauren Collection gown, but there is also a sense of restraint which makes it all the more striking. It’s evident in the tonal embellishment, the halo headpiece and her Ana Khouri earrings.

When many try to layer on everything save the kitchen sink, there is a sense of ease and grace from the ensemble which helps capture the theme.

Rita Ora In Prada – 2018 Met Gala

Rita Ora shut down the red carpet with her entrance at the 2018 Met Gala on Monday (May 7) in New York City—not the least because of her magnificently long chiffon train.

While we’ve seen a lot of light and golden looks thus far, the songstress tapped into a darker side of heavenly fashion with this Prada gown.

Lit by bright floral appliques throughout, the design was a standout, especially when complemented by the drama of the glittery gloves, Lorraine Schwartz jewels, neon bag, and yes, the black-rose-covered headpiece—worn in homage to the theme, naturally.

Some may be getting Beyonce vibes from the headdress that reminded me of the one we saw on Queen Bey at the 2017 Grammy Awards.

But, this look was all Rita, and she owned the dark-angel quality.

Katharine McPhee In Georges Chakra Couture – 2018 Met Gala

Katharine McPhee was one of the lovely ladies in attendance at the 2018 Met Gala on Monday night (May 7) in New York City, joining Hailee Steinfeld, Gabrielle Union and Kerry Washington.

The singer-actress was another one who embraced blue and gold, but she put her own twist on things with this pale blue Georges Chakra Spring 2017 Couture gown crafted out of a textured diaphanous fabric. It adds allure to the sweeping style and contrasts the bold folds.

There are details aplenty with the layered accessories, but everything has been chosen carefully so nothing overpowers. It all presents an opulent, cohesive finish.

Diane Kruger In Prabal Gurung – 2018 Met Gala

Diane Kruger had me absolutely enchanted the minute she alighted the carpet at the 2018 Met Gala on Monday (May 7) in New York City.

Her satiny-blue Prabal Gurung confection was indeed heavenly, to say the least.

The magic of the design was that it boasted a certain purity of sweet innocence in the gold filigree, sculpted mini with the elaboration of form in the pouf sleeves and long train.

I love the addition of the netted hair piece to drive home the fairytale-meets-angelic form.
