Get The Look: Lily Collins’ Dramatic Sparkle-Accented Met Gala Beauty Look

One of evening’s most creative and striking beauty looks, Lily Collins’ ultra-sparkly and dramatic makeup made quite the style statement at this year’s Met Gala. Beautifully interpreting the Gala’s theme – “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination” — in an innovative fashion, makeup artist Fiona Stiles created an artistic makeup that was dark and intense while remaining incredibly chic.

Serving as a stunning contrast to the angelic renaissance beauty looks of the evening, here’s how Fiona created this dramatic look:

SKIN: Every great beauty look starts with a makeup-free and freshly cleansed face. To prep Lily’s skin, Fiona began by massaging Lancôme Genefique Youth Activating Concentrate onto her face. Once the skin was primed and hydrated, she continued by blending Lancôme Le TeintIdole Ultra 24H Longwear Foundation (in 110 Ivoire C) onto her skin for a flawless complexion. She them worked to blurany imperfections and adding additional brightness with Lancôme Effacernes(in 110 Ivoire) concealer. She locked in the look with a dusting of Lancôme Absolue Powder (Ecru Light).

CHEEKS: To sculpt Lily’s cheeks and face, Fiona used Lancôme Le Duo Contouring and Highlighting Stick (in Ivoire) and blended it out for an effortless finish. For radiance and dimension, Lily’s face was highlighted with Lancôme Dual Finish Highlighter (in Shimmering Buff).

EYES: Once the skin was perfected, Fiona moved onto the eyes which was the focal point of the beauty look. To create that softly diffused smoky eye look, she used two essential eyeshadow shades. Lancôme Color Design eyeshadows (in Volcano Shimmer and Smokey Brown) were blended onto the lids and crease. Opting out of eyeliner, Fiona framed the look by coating Lily’s lush lashes with Lancôme Hypnose Drama (in Excessive Black) mascara. For that dazzling sparkle design, she strategically placed rounded crystals along the center of Lily’s upper and lower lash lines.

BROWS: Already full and beautifully shaped, Fiona groomed Lily’s brows with Lancôme Sourcils Styler (in Transparent).
.
LIPS: For a stained-glass look,Fiona saturated Lily’s pout with Lancôme Le Metallique Metallic Lip Lacquer(in Purple Onyx).

BODY: Much like her beauty look, Fiona wanted Lily’s skin to glisten, she achieved that sheen with a blend of Lancôme TeintIdole Ultra Custom Highlighter Drops in Champagne Glow and Lancôme Dual Finish Highlighter in Shimmer Buff.

2018 Met Gala Menswear Roundup

The men always have a bit more of a challenge when it comes to thematic dress, but here’s how they did at the 2018 Met Gala on Monday (May 7) in New York City.

Virgil Abloh: Right out of the gate, I loved seeing Louis Vuitton’s Artistic Director of Men’s Collections wearing this preview of the upcoming Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2019 men’s collection. Bonus points that the creamy-white design played to the theme—with an urban twist in the sneakers.

Andrew Garfield: The actor introduced the thematic, crimson-red hue via this lush velveteen Tom Ford tuxedo.

Jared Leto: If there would be anyone to fully dress to theme, it would be Jared. In head-to-toe Gucci, he flaunted this custom design that offered up his interpretation of a saintly crown paired with priestly embroidered panels. The flamboyant suit itself we could have likely seen him in any day of the week.

Models @ 2018 Met Gala

Naturally, the models were out in force for the 2018 Met Gala on Monday (May 7) in New York City. Here’s what these ‘heavenly bodies’ had on.

Ashley Graham: Channeling a bronzed goddess moment, the model donned an Atelier Prabal Gurung sequin-encrusted gown that introduced a dramatic, Met-ready sensibility with the long, satin-edged cape. The leg jut was put to work, with Taski jewels and Giuseppe Zanotti sandals completing the look.

Bella Hadid: I’m sure many will be raising their hands in praise that Bella opted for something a bit more covered than her naked bodysuit from last year’s Met Gala. This custom Chrome Hearts x Gareth Pugh design riffed on sinner and saint with the dark glamour of the latex corset and sculptural, villainous cape and fingerless gloves. This would have been all bad-girl were it not for the cross necklace and cross-embroidered veil that trailed behind her.

Lana del Rey In Gucci – 2018 Met Gala

Lana del Rey turned heads at the 2018 Met Gala on Monday evening (May 7) in New York City.

Those wanting someone to fully embrace the theme should find favor in her custom Gucci gown which was inspired by Our Lady of Sorrows. No detail was forgotten as her initials were embroidered within the sacred heart on her chest.

The gown succeeded in capturing the theme, but the headpiece took it to another level, making this a look that will likely not be forgotten. This is the red carpet to bring out everything and she definitely did.

Bee Shaffer In Valentino Couture & Anna Wintour In Chanel Couture – 2018 Met Gala

Not to be missed were Anna Wintour and daughter Bee Shaffer at the 2018 Met Gala on Monday night (May 7) in New York City.

Bee Shaffer: She was a breathtaking vision in Valentino Spring 2018 Couture. Between the designer’s signature colour and the oversized scalloped hem, it oozed romance. The asymmetrical neckline ruffle tied in a draping bow added more magic. Not forgetting about the theme, the colour and clutch nodded to it.

Anna Wintour: As co-host, the editor was sure to embrace the theme in a diaphanous Chanel Spring 2018 Couture dress. Some might be surprised to see she opted for a modified style rather than a totally custom piece. The dress already had the feel of the theme but she further enhanced it with the addition of the short sleeves, by extending the skirt and finishing with the rosary. It was graceful and elegant.

Kristin Scott Thomas In Erdem – 2018 Met Gala

Kristin Scott Thomas was one of the numerous people in attendance at the Heavenly Bodies: Fashion & The Catholic Imagination Costume Institute Gala on Monday evening (May 7) in New York City.

The actress was a beauty in baby blue, donning a bespoke Erdem moire silk gown as she walked the red carpet with the designer. The dress exuded such a regal elegance with the watteau train and English hand embroidery.

The sophisticated refinement is very much in her wheelhouse, but it was a refreshing change to see her in a lighter colour. It suited the night’s M.O. and was a deviation from her preferred dark colour palette.
