Red Carpet Fashion Awards

From the knees up I really liked Mia Wasikowska look on the red carpet at the 14th Annual Hollywood Awards Gala.

The Australian actress wore a metallic Proenza Schouler Resort 2011 dress with tights and black patent pumps.

As part of the new generation of girls on the red carpet I wish she’d worn more interesting shoes and gone without the tights.

It couldn’t have been that cold because everyone else went bare-legged to this event.

Other than that I love the dress and her hair is gorgeous.

Mia Wasikowska wore yet another sheer look this week when she walked the red carpet for “The Kids Are All Right” New York Premiere last night.

The Australian actress wore a dress from the Rodarte Spring 2008 collection  – which I like to call the Keira Knightley collection.

I hate to say “I told you so”, but I did say yesterday that Mia could pull off a bra-less look.

This was proved when she wore her black lace and blue ribbon dress sans bra and it didn’t look tacky nor cheap.

The dress is pretty expressive so she didn’t need any accessories.

Her look was completed with simple black peep-toes.

I personally would’ve worn the runway spikey Louboutin’s, but Mia’s look works perfectly for her.

Mia Wasikowska was spotted – literally – arriving at Rouge Tomate for a luncheon to celebrate her new movie, “The Kids Are All Right”.

The “Alice in Wonderland” actress wore a Jason Wu Fall 2010 polka dot ensemble.

She wore her dress with brogues, which aren’t my favourite type of shoes but they work with Mia’s style and look.

My biggest problem here aside from the tights in 90 degree New York weather, is the peek-a-boo bra.

I’m almost tempted to suggest that no bra at all like the runway would’ve been a better look, with lined pockets to cover the buds.

I’m not one to advocate not wearing a bra, but I find it really distracting with Mia’s look.

The alternative of course would’ve been to wear a black vest top under the blouse.

What are you thoughts/suggestions on the bra?

Wash Out Award
Mia Wasikowska arrived on the red carpet at the 2010 Film Independent Spirit Awards wearing quite an edgy look.

Unfortunately it doesn’t work for me.

You may think I going to groan about the tights, but on this occasion I’m more disappointed with the colour of her Rodarte Fall 2009 dress.

The grey totally washes her out. Had she worn slightly more visible make-up this wouldn’t have been the case.

This is a shame because she’s one of the few I think could pull off Rodarte.

I also think she should’ve followed Carey Mulligan’s lead by freshening up her pixie haircut.

Two petite women in big couture gowns were the winners this week.

Anna Kendrick was your favourite in her stunning Elie Saab Couture gown with a flowing train.

She’d done a 180 after disappointing many of us at the BAFTAs to look elegant in her couture gown at the 2th Annual Costume Designers Guild Awards.

I loved Mia Wasikowska in her Valentino Couture gown for many different reasons.

Mostly because the gown is beautiful, but also because the gown was perfect for the “Alice In Wonderland” Royal World premiere and the star stood like she was 6ft tall in her gown.

Ashley Olsen was a close second in your affections, so it was a great week for Couture.
