Meryl Streep In Stella McCartney - 2014 New York Philharmonic Spring Gala

Meryl Streep attended the 2014 New York Philharmonic Spring Gala featuring ‘Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street’ held at Josie Robertson Plaza at Lincoln Center on Wednesday (March 5) in New York City.

At first I didn’t quite get the McCartney/Streep connection, but Meryl, whose style is often very questionable, seems to love the British designer’s pieces, as this is her fifth look.

Wearing all blue, Meryl donned a Stella McCartney Pre-Fall 2013 wool-and-cashmere-blend double-breasted coat featuring jumbo feather-and-flower embroidery and broad peaked lapels.

Her statement coat makes quite a statement, but is it enough for her to start to be considered stylish?

Meryl Streep In Lanvin - Oscars 2014

The acting goddess that is Meryl Streep made her mark on the red carpet at the 2014 Oscars held at the Hollywood & Highland Center on Sunday (March 2) in Hollywood, California.

The 18-time nominee wore an elegant Lanvin gown that dipped slightly off the shoulder and suited her quirky personal style perfectly.

You never know what you’re going to get from Meryl on the red carpet, but this look is lovely and age appropriate and the belt and bracelets add a nice touch of style and visual appeal.

Of course, it would have been great to see Meryl make a bit more effort with her hair and makeup, but her simplistic take on beauty is part of what make Meryl, Meryl.

Meryl Streep In Stella McCartney - 'August Osage County' Paris Premiere

Taking over the reins from Juliette Lewis, Meryl Streep continued to promote ‘August : Osage County’ by attending the Paris premiere held at Cinema UGC Normandie on Thursday (February 13) in Paris, France.

I found myself surprised by her Stella McCartney Pre-Fall 2013 black-and-white choice, as it’s so far away from the frumpy frocks she tends to favor.

You may remember that Nicole Richie, Dafne Fernandez and Tika Sumpter have all worn this look before.

All went bare legged with black footwear, but Meryl opted to round out her look with black tights.

Is this the best she’s looked in a while, or does Meryl continue to miss the mark?

Meryl Streep In Max Mara - 86th Academy Awards Nominees Luncheon

Meryl Streep attended the 86th Oscars Nominee Luncheon at The Beverly Hilton Hotel on Monday (February 10) in Beverly Hills, California.

We all love Meryl, she’s a great actress, but this blog is about fashion and as much as I try, I can’t get excited about her style.

Even though she’s wearing a pretty Max Mara pink-and-red printed dress, which I must stress is a huge departure for her usually drab red carpet looks, the styling lets her down.

The red Jimmy Choo ‘Luna’ peep-toes are perfect, but the Clare Vivier monogrammed clutch was a bizarre choice to say the least.

File this under so close.

Meryl Streep In Stella McCartney - 2014 SAG Awards

Meryl Streep joined the star-studded list at the 2014 SAG Awards, hosted Saturday night (January 18) at The Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California.

The outstanding leading role nominee for ‘August: Osage County’ wore a Stella McCartney Fall 2013 black, off-the-shoulder dress with contrasting, sheer linear design.

As usual, she failed to really impress on the red carpet. While this trend-forward look had a cool breeziness, I was missing the elegance here that Meryl would wear so well. The frock was ultimately compromised by a lack of structure and a too-casual vibe for the spirit of the Screen Actors Guild evening.

Black peep-toe heels, a satin Christian Louboutin ‘Plitz’ clutch and gold cuffs and earrings did nothing to remedy the situation.
