Melonie Diaz In Preen - Film Independent Spirit Awards 2014

Melonie Diaz brought a burst of colour to the blue carpet at the 2014 Film Independent Spirit Awards, held on Saturday (March 1) at Santa Monica Beach in California.

The ‘Fruitvale Station’ actress and nominee wore a kaleidoscope of a dress from the Preen Spring 2014 collection.

The white, sleeveless frock was emboldened with an abstract, zig-zag geometric print in a bright palette of hues.

In this case, I don’t mind the revisions from the runway design. After all, we’ve seen enough sheer hemlines as it is.

Nor I am bothered by the selection of black pumps, even if a sandal may have been preferred. The heels, along with a minimalistic black VBH handbag, allowed the boldness of the artsy dress to take centre stage.

However, her fuchsia lip was an excellent non-black accessory. W. Britt gold earrings and a bracelet topped off the look.

Melonie Diaz In Halston Heritage - 2014 Film Independent Filmmaker Grant And Spirit Awards Nominees Brunch

Melonie Diaz was back to sexy best on the red carpet of the 2014 Film Independent Filmmaker Grant and Spirit nominees brunch held at BOA Steakhouse in West Hollywood on Saturday, January 11.

The sultry beauty brought a dash of colour to the event with a daring strapless Halston Heritage dress with pink and plum ruffle detail.

This was a bold choice for a brunch but Melonie was clearly dressed to impress. And I for one am a fan of this pretty-meets-sexy look.

Nude suede Christian Louboutin heels helped tone down the look and Melonie’s pale pink lip and soft, feminine up-do pushed the look in a more feminine direction.

AFI Awards 2014 Red Carpet Roundup

Plenty more stars joined Amy Adams, Kate Mara, and Lupita Nyong’o at the 14th annual AFI Awards Luncheon at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills this afternoon (January 10).

Julianna Margulies: The ‘The Good Wife’ star looked chic in black and white donning an Oscar de la Renta blouse and L’Wren Scott pencil skirt with copper Christian Louboutin ointy-toed heels and coordinating clutch and a simple chignon.

Melonie Diaz: The ‘Fruitville Station’ star wore a Honor Spring 2014 dress and worked two spring trends in one–lace and monochromatic white. She paired the dress with a Jimmy Choo ‘Cameo’ clutch and Jimmy Choo ‘Anouk’ suede pumps. A deep side part in her hair and sweet pink lips completed the look.

Christina Hendricks: The ‘Mad Men’ star went for subtle color-blocking in a soft blue Boden sweater over a seafoam Dolce & Gabbana skirt. Classic nude Jimmy Choo pumps and a metallic clutch completed the look.

Melonie Diaz In Cushnie Et Ochs - New York Film Critics Circle Awards

Melonie Diaz joined Octavia Spencer and Cate Blanchett on the red carpet for the New York Film Critics Circle Awards Ceremony held at The Edison Ballroom on Monday (January 6) in New York City.

Known for her love of sweet frocks, the ‘Fruitvale Station’ actress opted for something sexier for her first look of 2014.

She wore a sexy frock from Cushnie et Ochs’ Spring 2014 collection.

Her form-fitting frock with delicate double straps with a string yoke and a back centre-seam slit was simply styled with black pumps and a matching manicure, with a vampy deep-rouge lip colour rounding out her look.

Melonie Diaz In J Mendel - ‘Mandela Long Walk To Freedom’ Special New York ScreeningMelonie Diaz was also among the stars at the ‘Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom’ New York screening at the Ziegfeld Theatre in New York City on Monday night.

She took a monochromatic approach in a simply sophisticated J. Mendel dress paired with Jimmy Choo black pumps.

Even though the black-and-white, loose-fitting frock featured embossed embellishment, it still wasn’t enough to make me take notice.

Centre-parted locks and pale pink lip completed her ensemble.

Sure, she looked pretty and polished, but this look still left me wishing for the fashionable punch line.

Elle 1

Many more fashionable femmes joined the crush of glamour gals at ELLE’s 20th Annual Women In Hollywood Celebration, hosted yesterday night at the Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles in Beverly Hills, California.

Melissa McCarthy: One of ELLE’s November cover girls, Melissa took a trendsetting approach in a Calvin Klein ensemble, featuring a black leather-look top and pants and a white bolero jacket, to which she paired a Rauwolf ombre-effect clutch, studded sandals and a few gold cocktail rings. A pompadour-inspired ‘do topped off her edgier entrance.

Emilia Clarke: The ‘Game of Thrones’ starlet was polished in a sheer effect, nude Calvin Klein Spring 2013 frock, cinched in with a black belt. Nude sandals with an embellished metallic heel added an intriguing, style-forward note, while her wispy updo and soft rose-toned makeup were just plain pretty.

Gia Coppola: Also in Calvin Klein, the director-screenwriter skipped a dress in favour of separates including a wrap-front top and cropped black pants, adding some shine via gold sandals and a bit of colour via a berry lip lacquer.
