Melissa George In Schiaparelli Couture – Derby Day

On Saturday (November 4) Melissa George was at the Kennedy Marquee on Derby Day held at Flemington Racecourse in Melbourne, Australia.

The actress is a regular in the front row of Schiaparelli Paris Fashion Week shows, so I wasn’t surprised to see her wearing a look from the brands Fall 2017 Couture collection.

I was, however, thrown by the styling, as it feels like there’s one thing too much going on here.

I like the hat – it was Derby Day after all – but I think the bag and perhaps the lace gloves were a tad overkill.

Melissa George In Schiaparelli Couture – 2017 amfAR Gala Cannes

Melissa George made a Cannes Film Festival appearance at the amfAR Gala Cannes on Thursday (May 25).

The actress is no stranger to wearing Schiaparelli Couture looks, so I wasn’t surprised to see her dressed in a design from the Spring 2017 collection.

We’ve seen a trend towards darker, decorative looks tonight (think Nicole Kidman and Diane Kruger), and this gown also fit that bill.

I did love the sort of dreamy, enchanted quality of the embellished layers of the tulle and lace skirt.

But, something about the bodice resonated as unfinished to me. It seemed as if needed some sense of tailored structure or form to stand up to the folds of the skirt—especially sans the sheer top piece that was presented on the runway.

Minimal accessories made her lovely windswept updo and radiant makeup the focus of her styling.

Melissa George In Schiaparelli Couture – 40th Best Ceremony

Melissa George was easily spotted at the 40th Best Award Ceremony in Paris on Friday (January 27).

However, with her sculptural Schiaparelli Fall 2016 Couture frock featuring hot pink shoulder wings and a commanding belt, she could have been attending a space-age ball.

Upon seeing her outfit, I was immediately hit with déjà vu. That futuristic flapper fringe is not something you soon forget, after all.

You may recall that Yara Shahidi recently wore a very similar bristle dress from the same Schiaparelli collection.

Like it or loathe it, the shoes were a true question mark. While I’m sure they were selected so as to keep the dress front and center, they ended up pulling the look down with their taupe colour and traditional style that simply didn’t belong.

Schiaparelli Spring 2017 Couture Front Row

There was no shortage of starlets wearing their Schiaparelli best and seated front row at the brands Haute Couture Spring 2017 show during Paris Fashion Week on Monday (January 23).

Thandie Newton: With a large dose of va-va-voom, the actress wore her heart on her dress in an asymmetrical black number with a sultry slit up the leg. The sculptural red jacket that adorned her shoulders added even more sass to the ensemble.

Olga Kurylenko: Her appearance at the Schiaparelli show saw the actress wearing a completely different jumpsuit look from the one debuted at the Christian Dior show. Here, the sportier element disappeared to be replaced by a fluid silhouette and a power print. Like Thandie, she too wore a jacket over her shoulders for an additional edge.

Melissa George In Schiaparelli Couture – 2015 amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala

Melissa George In Schiaparelli Couture - 2015 amfAR Cinema Against AIDS Gala

Melissa George attended amfAR’s 22nd Cinema Against AIDS Gala at Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc on Thursday (May 21) in Cap d’Antibes, France.

The actress wore her second Schiaparelli Spring 2015 Couture look of the event, gliding down the red carpet wearing a poufy black tulle gown enriched with tiny colourful feathers.

I’m pretty sure Dita von Teese will have had dress envy upon sight of Melissa, but Melissa totally owned the look, to the blood-red lip and Roger Vivier clutch.

This was one of my favourites of the night.

Melissa George In Schiaparelli Couture – ‘Irrational Man’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere

Melissa George In Schiaparelli Couture - ‘Irrational Man’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere

Melissa George attended the ‘Irrational Man’ premiere during the 68th annual Cannes Film Festival on Friday (May 15) in Cannes, France.

I’m not sure this will be hugely popular, but I kinda like the cool Parisian vibe Melissa is exuding wearing this Schiaparelli Spring 2015 Couture look.

The Lurex jacquard fabric gives the look a touch of glamour, as does the red lip colour, but it’s her confidence and poise which really sells this look to me.

It’s nice to see some originality executed well at Cannes.

‘Ain’t Them Bodies Saints’ ‘Downtown’ Calvin Klein New York Screening

Calvin Klein

As the hosts of the ‘Ain’t Them Bodies Saints’ screening, along with IFC Films and The Cinema Society, Calvin Klein dressed the other attendees aside from Rooney Mara.

Robin Wright: The actress snuggled up to her beau wearing head-to-toe black.

Ben Foster: Rooney’s co-star grabs my attention in this eggplant peaked-lapel one-button Calvin Klein suit for both the colour and sheen. He styled it with a light-grey shirt.

Melissa George: The blonde beauty looked gorgeous wearing a Calvin Klein seafoam-green cowl-neck loose-fit dress, which she styled with a silver-trimmed Calvin Klein clutch and nude sandals. I love everything about this – mostly the effortlessness of it all.

Zosia Mamet: Also dressed in Calvin Klein, the ‘Girls’ actress took a more laidback approach to the evening, wearing a blue silk shirt with leather pants. I considered giving her a rare pass, despite the racoon eyes, but the white shoes are heinous with this look.
