Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Abbie Cornish took a risk on the red carpet for the ‘Disconnect’ premiere at the Prince of Wales Theatre during the 2012 Toronto Film Festival yesterday.

The Australian actress wore a black jumpsuit with lace panels and gold button by Emilio Pucci for the event.

The jumpsuit looks a size too small for Abbie, who appears to be holding her breath.

Forties curls, a black clutch, earrings by Nikki Baker and bracelets by Melinda Maria completed what could’ve been a great look.

Diane Kruger attended yesterday’s ‘Inescapable’ premiere at the Roy Thomson Hall during the 2012 Toronto Film Festival with her beau Joshua Jackson.

The actress wore a piece from the Valentino Fall 2012 Couture collection.

Diane stayed true to her stylish self in this dress. Although the sequin and fur-lined bodice threatened to overwhelm her with its long sleeves and distinctive pattern, the skirt’s high-waist, gathered slit and just-above-the-knee hem rebalance the proportions.

A black clutch, black pumps, flawless makeup and a top knot complete her look.

Kristen Wiig went for a vintage-inspired look for the ‘Imogenee’ premiere during the Toronto Film Festival last week.

The actress, writer and comedian wore a dress from the Alberta Ferretti Pre-Fall 2012 collection for the event.

I love this laid-back nod to the 20s look on Kirsten. The dark purple goes well against her fair skin and dark hair, while the semi-casual fit seems to suit her personality.

The shoes, however, are an odd match, though it could be the photography and the light, and the necklace is an unnecessary addition.

Loose waves and pastel pink make-up complete her look.

Emily Blunt got in touch with her ethical side for the ‘Arthur Newman’ premiere during the 2012 Toronto Film Festival last night.

For the event, the British actress opted for a dress made by Tory Burch for the Green Carpet Challenge.

All I can say is ‘bravo.’

The white ruched dress is made from silk tulle reclaimed from Tory Burch’s end of line and archive store, while the neckline is constructed of recycled brass and features floral motifs made from amber and light topaz.

Although ruching of this intensity is difficult to pull off because it adds so much extra bulk, Emily is able to carry this look off.

Grey heels, patterned clutch and a hot pink lip also help to lift this eco chic ensemble.

There was a time when Toronto Film Festival was a lot less glamorous than its cousins, Cannes and Venice.

Something has changed this year, the gowns are more spectacular, and we are seeing a lot more couture so I couldn’t be happier.

Zhang Ziyi was glamour personified when she took the red carpet ‘Dangerous Liaisons’ premiere yesterday evening during the Toronto Film Festival.

Her ivory gown with bold shoulders, keyhole detail and a bejewelled neckline doesn’t make me go weak at the knees; it has me passed out on the floor.

Zhang Ziyi accessorized with silver jewels and an embellished clutch.

With a fresh face glow she completed her look with retro marcel waves and diamanté nails.
