Mary J. Blige In Elie Saab – 29th Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival

Mary J. Blige picked up the ‘Breakthrough Performance’ award for ‘Mudbound’ at the 29th Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala on Tuesday (January 2) in Palm Springs, California.

The singer/actress received her award wearing an Elie Saab Pre-Fall 2017 celadon, fully embellished gown with Juliet long sleeves.

My belief was that we were going to see a more darker, edgier side to her style for awards season with custom Balmain and Alexander Wang pieces, so this softer, daintier look came as a pleasant surprise.

I adore the beadwork and the bold shoulder detail, however, I would’ve preferred the velvet waist band over the bow ribbon detail.

Jewelry from Chopard’s ‘L’Heure Du Diamant Collection’ and ‘High Jewelry Collection’ rounded out her look.

Mary J Blige In Temraza – 2017 Gotham Independent Film Awards

Mary J Blige was honored with the Special Jury Award for Ensemble Performance for ‘Mudbound’ at the 2017 Gotham Independent Film Awards on Monday (November 27), alongside her co-star Carey Mulligan.

Gold beaded embroidery breathes sparkling glamour into the pitch black velvet fabric of this floor-length dress from Temraza.

Striking a balance between the modest long sleeves and a sexy thigh-high slit, the singer/actress continues to make a strong impact on the red carpet as we head into awards season.

The look was styled with Giuseppe Zanotti shoes and EFFY Jewelry.

Mary J Blige In Bibhu Mohapatra – HFPA and Instyle Celebration of the 2018 Golden Globe Awards

Mary J Blige joined a host of celebrities including Kate Bosworth and Nina Dobrev for the HFPA and Instyle Celebration of the 2018 Golden Globe Awards event on Wednesday (November 15) in West Hollywood, California.

When it comes to her ‘Mudbound’ promo tour, I often felt Mary was holding back, because excess has always been her M.O.

With that being said, this Bibhu Mohapatra Spring 2018 dress seems a lot more like Mary to me.

While there an elements of sophistication, the embellishments and feathered sleeves make the look more expressive and gives the piece more personality.

I do prefer the runway version, but I think Mary manages to pull this look off quite well.

Mary J Blige In Cushnie et Ochs – 9th Annual Governors Awards

Mary J Blige joined a host of celebrities including her ‘Mudbound’ co-star Carey Mulligan, for the 9th Annual Governors Awards on Saturday (November 11) in Hollywood, California.

Aside from a few press events, Mary J Blige’s red carpet looks have mostly consisted of darker shades until she glided down the red carpet in this Cushine et Ochs Spring 2018 colour block gown.

I love how the label’s fabled bodycon silhouettes makes ways for a more softer impression, yet still maintains a high sense of modernity which includes a signature cut-out which Mary opted to keep along with the sultry thigh-high slit.

Mary should definitely opt for colour more often.

Mary J. Blige In Rami Al Ali Couture – ‘Mudbound’ AFI FEST 2017 Screening

Mary J. Blige’s ‘Mudbound’ style has been very hit and miss for me, but for the screening during the Opening Night Gala of AFI FEST 2017 on Thursday (November 9) in Hollywood, California, she served up one of her best looks in Rami Al Ali Couture.

Modified for the better, the gunmetal beaded lace gown with open back from the Fall 2016 Couture collection, was serving up the kind of glamour that screams superstar.

A part of me wishes this was in a more vibrant hue like violet or green, but Queen Mary was hitting all the high notes last night in this gown.

Mary J. Blige In Zuhair Murad Couture – 2017 Hollywood Film Awards

There were a slew of lovely ladies at the 2017 Hollywood Film Awards on Sunday (November 5) in Beverly Hills, California. Mary J. Blige stepped out to join Angelina JolieMargot RobbieCarey Mulligan and Shailene Woodley.

Ditching the gown for elegant separates, the singer was clad in a Fall 2017 ensemble from Zuhair Murad Couture. The bright white fabric of the longline jacket and pants allowed the intricate black appliqués to pop.

It’s such a shame about the wrong colour nipple pasties as they distract from the sumptuous mix of the sheer top and ornate stitching.

I’m keen to see the jacket and high-necked top styled separately so the handiwork of each piece could speak for themselves.

End Of The Week Red Carpet Roundup

There were so many looks this week, that we’re going to cram them into this final post.

Josephine De La Baume: Attending the ‘Murder on the Orient Express’ world premiere, the French actress opted to infuse her red carpet style with high-voltage seduction courtesy of this Self-Portrait devore mini dress from the Fall 2017 collection. I’m not usually a big fan of platform shoes, but I find myself buying what she’s selling as these Miu Miu Mary Janes add a playful vibe.

Martha Hunt: I love the fashion forward feel of this Off-White c/o Virgil Abloh black cropped blazer and sequin dress from the Fall 2017 collection with simple black pumps. Worn to the World of Children Awards, this was a truly intriguing look I have to say.

Ajak Deng: This saffron yellow Roksanda ‘Tamiko’ jumpsuit from the Fall 2017 collection gave me so much joy at the ‘Murder on the Orient Express’ world premiere. I love the relaxed nature of it all with the chunky heels adding a utilitarian flavour.
