Chloe Sevigny In Vivienne Westwood – ‘Lean On Pete’ Toronto Film Festival Premiere

Chloe Sevigny graced the red carpet for the Toronto Film Festival premiere of ‘Lean On Pete’ on Monday (September 11).

Seeing the title, I’m sure you thought this would be another signature Vivienne Westwood look, but Fall 2017 dress by Andreas Kronthaler gave us a break from the norm.

Admittedly there is a lot going on with so many textures, prints, fabrics and asymmetrical cuts and drapes, but Chloe appeared to be up for the challenge.

In fact not only was she up for the challenged, she opted to smash the pattern-play bar, by adding a blue tartan Vivienne Westwood bag into the mix.

Keeping her Westwood platform black was probably the smart choice her.

Angelina Jolie In Ralph & Russo – ‘First They Killed My Father’ Toronto Film Festival Premiere

After her all-white outing, it was back to signature black for Angelina Jolie’s second red carpet appearance during Toronto Film Festival, for the world premiere of Netflix’s Film’s ‘First They Killed My Father’ on Monday (September 11).

The actress wore a Ralph & Russo dress crafted from satin and styled with one batwing sleeve and elegant bow detail, which hails from the designers first ready-to-wear collection which will be showcased during London Fashion Week.

I love how the asymmetrical hemline adds to the proportion play, while minimal fuss allowed for versatility when styling.

I’m sure many of you would’ve hoped that she would recreate her classic her noir and emerald moment from the 2009 Oscars, however, she selected Samer Halimeh asscher cut diamond drop earrings, plus Ralph & Russo’s classic ‘Empire’ black pumps along with their signature ‘Alina’ clutch.

Brie Larson In Schiaparelli Couture – ‘Unicorn Store’ Toronto Film Festival Premiere

Brie Larson had her own unique fairytale moment at the ‘Unicorn Store’ premiere, held during the 2017 Toronto Film Festival, on Monday (September 11).

Apropos that she opted for a Schiaparelli Fall 2017 Couture gown that was undoubtedly selected to reflect the whimsical mood of the film with its light, scarf-like layers and colourful range of hues.

To ensure the look stayed within the sophisticated side of fancifulness, she styled it quite simply with her sleek bun and complementary sandals.

This is a dress which was made for movement, as I can only imagine the lovely effect of the layers floating behind her as she walked.

Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

The men didn’t take a break this weekend either, with the 2017 Toronto Film Festival summoning many of them to the red carpet—plus a few other occasions.

Bill Skarsgard: At the ‘It’ Stockholm premiere, Bill wore a tweedy, printed Bottega Veneta suit that he enhanced with the deep navy dress shirt. I just wish he had buttoned the top button of his jacket.

Alan Cumming: At the ‘Battle of the Sexes’ TIFF premiere on Sunday (September 10), Alan showed off his quirky style in a Stella McCartney double-breasted pinstriped suit. The tapered pants didn’t really do the look any favours, and I generally have the same reaction to men’s platform shoes as I do to women’s—being.

Aubrey Drake Graham: At ‘The Carter Effect’ TIFF premiere on Saturday (September 9), the entertainer dressed up in a Prada ensemble that was emboldened by its aubergine palette.

Toronto Film Festival Red Carpet Roundup

The 2017 Toronto Film Festival red carpet has been red-haute with looks throughout the weekend, and here is a roundup of the rest of the stars that were seen on Sunday (September 10).

Margaret Qualley: The young starlet was at the ‘Novitate’ premiere dressed in a Valentino Fall 2017 gown. This ornate look translated a bit heavily for me, but it’s intriguing to watch Margaret continue to boldly experiment with her style.

Evan Rachel Wood: I absolutely loved this Stella McCartney Resort 2018 pinstripe ensemble on the actress at the ‘A Worthy Companion’ premiere. Riffing on menswear, the look perfectly played into her edgy style sensibility while providing a different take on the suiting trend with its play on proportions. Her makeup seemed a bit overzealous, but that would be my main qualm. Giuseppe Zanotti shoes completed her look.

Elisabeth Moss: After a few recent looks that successfully pushed the boundaries of Elisabeth’s go-to style, she was back in her comfort zone at ‘The Square’ premiere with this Rochas retro-inspired jumper and skirt accessorised with Chloe Gosselin embellished pumps.

Jessica Chastain In Zuhair Murad – ‘Woman Walks Ahead’ Toronto Film Festival Premiere

Jessica Chastain was in great spirits as she premiered her latest film, ‘Woman Walks Ahead’ during the Toronto Film Festival on Sunday (September 10).

And walk tall she did, in Zuhair Murad.

There was a period during the early part of the year where we -I feel I’m speaking for the majority- were a bit underwhelmed by a few of Jessica’s look.

When I saw this striking red beaded Resort 2018 tulle slipgown I said, “this is the Jessia I know and love.”

She was oozing glamour of the highest order, with plenty of sparkle, complementary ruby jewels and a red pout to roundout the supereme elegance of the look.

This was my perhaps my favourite dress from an event heavy weekend, where we’ve covered over 100 red carpet looks.
