Emma Watson In Christian Dior Couture - 2014 Golden Globe Awards

Emma Watson was also among the starry mix at the 2014 Golden Globe Awards, held at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California on Sunday (January 12).

The young actress had me in complete amazement at her Christian Dior Couture outing—one that I would have never predicted. Lupita Nyong’o wasn’t the only one having a red-haute night.

From the front, Emma’s ribbon-tie dress was a classic standard—even borderline uninspiring. Of course, that’s before the thigh-high slit came into focus and the true backless nature of the design was revealed.

Contrasting the languid fluidity of the gown were black skinny, cropped trousers and a sassy pair of violet-blue Roger Vivier ‘Ergo Sexy’ pumps.

The boundaries-pushing trends didn’t stop there. She completed the effect with one Dior ‘Mise en Dior’ earring: two over-sized pearls decorating her left lobe.

While her ensemble may have pushed the envelope, her hair and makeup was downright pretty with her light magenta lip and sleekly effortless bun.

She’s young; this is fashion fun; so why not throw a bit of shock and awe around. What do you make of her head-turning entrance?

Jenna Dewan-Tatum In Roberto Cavalli – 2014 Golden Globe Awards

Jenna Dewan-Tatum brought old school glam to the red carpet of the 2014 Golden Globe Awards in Los Angeles this evening (January 12).

The ‘Witches of East End’ actress wore a stunning Roberto Cavalli lace illusion gown and wore it flawlessly.

She accented the gown with Brian Atwood pumps, a black patent Edie Parker clutch and her dramatic Irene Neuwirth jewelry complete her vintage-inspired moment.

A side-part in her sleek brown locks, white eyeshadow, red lips and a red manicure are the perfect updated retro beauty choices for this memorable look.

Julia Roberts walked the red carpet at the 2014 Golden Globe Awards on Sunday (January 12) in Beverly Hills, California.

Nominated for her role in ‘August: Osage County’ it was an important red carpet moment for Julia, who was clad in Dolce & Gabbana.

Julia is one of my all time favorite red carpet beauties and I love that she’s into menswear-inspired styles these days, like this spot-on look. Though, this choice for the Golden Globes isn’t her best. The black and white combo looks fabulous on her, as always, and the strapless silhouette with simple lines and a sparkly belt look lovely. But oh that white button down shirt just distracts from it it all.

What I do love though is her textured, beehive bun, smokey eye makeup and nude lip.

I’m curious: is this a winning look in your book?

Taylor-Schilling

Taylor Schilling was a vision in green as she made her way down the red carpet of the 2014 Golden Globe Awards in Los Angeles this evening (January 12).

The ‘Orange is the New Black’ star wore a custom Thakoon gown with art deco-inspired draping and lace applique detailing. Stuart Weitzman shoes, a Swarovski crystal ‘Kiosque’ clutch and diamond jewels completed the look.

This look is the perfect relaxed-but-chic ensemble, and Taylor’s bouncy curls and smokey eye makeup compliment it perfectly.

There’s definitely going to be talk about this one tomorrow. I think it’s safe to say green is officially having a moment.

Julia Louis-Dreyfus In Narciso Rodriguez- 2014 Golden Globe Awards

Julia Louis-Dreyfus proved that some things only get better with age on the 2014 Golden Globe Awards red carpet in Beverley Hills Sunday night (January 12).

The double nominee, for ‘Veep’ and ‘Enough Said’, wore an orange dress by Narciso Rodriguez and gold jewelry by Fred Leighton.

Julia somehow manages to look better with every passing year. The warm color of this dress suits her perfectly, her body looks killer and the halter neckline is doing fabulous things for her shoulders and bust line.

The pulled back hair is sleek without being severe and her make-up is simple but pretty.

This is a perfect example of when less is more. If only we could all look so good at 52-years-old.

Zoe Saldana In Prabal Gurung - 2014 Golden Globe Awards

Every gaze must have been directed Zoe Saldana’s way, as she posed on the red carpet at the 2014 Golden Globe Awards, held at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California on Sunday (January 12).

The actress, who is never one to shy away from the edgier side of fashion, debuted a ballet-pink and black frock from Prabal Gurung’s Spring 2014 collection.

The elegantly slim-line, pencil-skirt silhouette was given a provocative, futuristic dash of flair, given all that bold bric-a-brac that laced nearly every inch of the dress.

Punched up with silver flashing at the molded bodice and glittery flowery-like embellishment, it also featured an asymmetrical, sheer lace panel that shot through the bottom half and also showed up again at the slit of the back.

It was a sexy-sassy-quirky moment if there ever was one.

Matching blushing-nude heels and a pink Bottega Veneta clutch corresponded with the dress, while dainty Lorraine Schwarz diamond earrings, a slicked-back bun and red lip (no space-age lavender lipstick here) put a classic tinge on this complicated number.

Zoe has the distinct advantage of looking every bit as good as the runway model in this hyper-designed look. The complexity is what made this dress really tick—or for some, it may be its ultimate downfall. But the more I looked at it, the more I liked it, much to my own surprise.

You may remember that Fashion Critic had this dress picked out for Zoe Saldana on her wish list.
