Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Sandra Bullock In Peter Pilotto - 2014 People's Choice Awards

Sandra Bullock took to the red carpet at the 2014 People’s Choice Awards on Wednesday night (January 8) at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in California.

The Favourite Movie Actress winner not only maintained her refreshing embrace of colour, she also piled on the pattern in her Peter Pilotto Resort 2014 embroidered frock that featured a happy mix of grass-green, white and navy petal-like pieces, overlaid over a sky-blue lining.

With such a complex dress, accented with the geometric swath of a white waistband, I would have liked to have seen her wavy locks pulled into an off-the-shoulder ‘do. However, she did downplay her makeup, choosing nude tones over anything more eye-catching.

A matching dark-blue Jimmy Choo ‘Tube’ clutch and chartreuse Kurt Geiger ‘Bond’ heels both complemented the hues of the dress, but perhaps too much so.

Did you like her bold shoe choice, or was it one colour too many?

Britney Spears In Mikael D - 2014 People’s Choice Awards

Britney Spears skipped the red carpet arrivals of the 40th annual People’s Choice Awards on Wednesday night, but picked up the Favorite Pop Artist award and posed with her trophy after leaving the stage.

The pop star and current Vegas-stage resident wore a nude-lined Mikael D Pre-Fall 2013 dress with silver rose applique detailing and long-sleeves.

And with such a busy dress, the singer made a great decision in keeping the accessories completely minimal–Giuseppe Zanotti nude pumps and just a few simple rings and dainty earrings.

While I’m not usually a fan of the whole nude-illusion look, I actually really like this dress for Britney. It stays true to her style while also being a bit more mature, which is appropriate at this point.

Do I wish her hair wasn’t quite so bleached? Of course. But this is Britney we’re talking about, and you can only expect so much when it comes to the style department.

Malin Akerman In Cushnie Et Ochs Spring 2014

Malin Akerman was also in the star-studded mix at the 2014 People’s Choice Awards, held on Wednesday (January 8) at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in California.

The actress selected a Cushnie et Ochs Spring 2014 black-and-white dress for the occasion, which naturally featured the label’s signature sexy cutouts.

I wasn’t a fan of this particular interpretation of the skin-baring bodice detail, though, as it translated as a bit overexposed—even when juxtaposed with her centre-parted, platinum-blonde ringlets.

However, the frock’s scribble- and doodle-print was undeniably a lighthearted, fun one for the evening.

She styled the look with a black clutch and vampy black, ankle-strap pumps and a smattering of Stephen Webster jewels.

Stana Katic In Naeem Khan - 2014 People’s Choice Awards

Stana Katic attended the 40th annual People’s Choice Awards held at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on Wednesday.

The ‘Castle’ star wore a dramatic long-sleeved Naeem Khan gown from the Spring 2014 collection.

Between the velvet accenting and the long-sleeves, Stana certainly stood out from the crowd, and I love that she went in such a different direction from pretty much everyone else on the night’s carpet with this dramatic number.

A center-parted low chignon, brown-smokey eyes and glossy nude lips were the perfect accent to the gown, as they kept things romantic yet simple and really let the dress make its mark.

Despite my total love for this look, I suspect there may be some naysayers, because it is just so different. So tell me–are you a love it or a leave it?

Jennifer Hudson In Kaufmanfranco - 2014 People's Choice Awards

Jennifer Hudson stunned on the red carpet of the 2014 People’s Choice Awards, hosted on Wednesday (January 8) at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles, California.

I was blown away by her jaw-dropping entrance in a captivating white dress from the Kaufmanfranco Spring 2014 collection, a shortened version of the original runway rendition.

Impossibly flattering, the wrapped silhouette was minimally effortless yet oh-so-sleek, to which she added some edge with a statement watch and cocktail rings along with white, ankle-wrap sandals.

The finishing touch of added perfection was that matte, hot neon-pink lip and her desert-bronze eye shadow.

Proving her beauty both inside and out, Jennifer took home the ‘Favourite Humanitarian’ award.
