Who Wore Yanina Couture Better? Aishwarya Rai Bachchan or Malin Akerman?

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan kick started her Cannes Film Festival campaign wearing a green Yanina Spring 2017 Couture gown fit for a queen.

I loved Malin Akerman in the black version of the frock she wore earlier this week, but Aishwarya wins for me.

Why?

I much prefer the green, the modified bodice and the voluminous structure of her tiered skirt.

Malin Akerman In Yanina Couture – Monte Carlo TV Festival Closing Ceremony

Malin Akerman was back on bold form for the Monte Carlo TV Festival Closing Ceremony where she had been promoting ‘Billions’.

I love the colourful floral details and rainbow edging on her dramatic floor-sweeping Yanina Spring 2017 Couture gown.

There was nothing shy and retiring about this playful number.

I particularly like the swept up hairstyle which lets us get a better look at her Jacquie Aiche earrings and Borgioni ear cuff.

A Devi Kroell clutch and Djula ring completed the uplifting vibe oozing from this look.

Pretty and carefree, wouldn’t you agree?

Malin Akerman In PatBo – Golden Nymph Nominees Party

Malin Akerman has been rocking some pretty bold looks over the last few days. On Monday (June 19), however, she took it back to basics at the Golden Nymph Nominees Party in Monte-Carlo, Monaco.

Wearing a salmon pink PatBo dress, she looked worlds away from her ‘Billions’ photocall ensemble.

The black panels on this look are incredibly flattering, as is the sporty neckline and above-the-knee length of the skirt.

The Casadei shoes are a nice addition; they add some whimsy and lengthen the silhouette somewhat. Similarly the Jason of Beverly Hills ring and cute clutch incorporate some gold hues, giving the whole outfit a much-needed lift.

I can’t help comparing this to her previous looks and feeling underwhelmed. It’s a safe choice for the fashion risk-taker and I’d love to see a return to her more daring side.

Would you agree?

Malin Akerman In Sebastian Gunawan Red & Gosia Baczynska – Monte Carlo TV Festival Opening Ceremony & ‘Billions’ Photocal

Malin Akerman attended the Monte Carlo TV Festival Opening Ceremony on Friday (June 16) and the ‘Billions’ Photocall on Saturday (June 17), both in Monte Carlo, Monaco.

Opening Ceremony: While I cannot fault her sleek styling of his Sebastian Gunawan Red lace jumpsuit, I wonder if a darker lining would have elevated the look into a more elegant territory. The lighter, off-white lining, while highlighting the beautiful patterning, can feel a bit dated and forced. An Edie Parker ‘Rebekah’ clutch completed her look.

Photocall: Malin’s second look couldn’t have been more different, as this Gosia Baczynska patterned suit embraced a far more adventurous, fresh approach with strong graphic impact. Some might find the jacket boxy, but I was too taken by the ensemble’s eye-catching appeal. A Jason of Beverly Hills ring and Neil J Rodgers shoes completed the retro-forward look.

2017 Oscar Parties Roundup

The 2017 Oscars party circuit was in full tilt with so many other style darlings in attendance at both the 2017 Vanity Fair Oscar Party and Elton John’s AIDS Foundation’s Academy Awards Viewing Party on Sunday (February 26). Here, a roundup of additional looks from the star-studded evening.

Emily Ratajkowski: Glitz and glam feathers both played a sultry game in this Jonathan Simkhai Fall 2017 plunge gown.

Priyanka Chopra: Speaking of glitter, Priyanka’s black Michael Kors Collection gown would have just been a standard black dress had it not been for the blitz of sequins.

Sia: I had to do a double-take with the singer’s custom Giorgio Armani cantaloupe-hued suit, as the nude-coloured lining provided a strange effect that made her hat-topped head almost appear to be floating.

Malin Akerman In Galvan – ‘Billions’ Season 2 New York Premiere

Malin Akerman attended the ‘Billions’ season 2 premiere and party in New York City on Monday (February 13).

I love how this Galvan Spring 2016 jumpsuit injects a dose of contemporary attitude into her red carpet style with flounces of femininity added via the satin panel.

Opting to go tonal with her Edie Parker clutch and John Hardy jewels, I wish she’d gone one step further with the shoes.

While I appreciate the effort to do something different, the white hue is quite jarring here.
