13.11.17 Screening

Weekend Red Carpet Roundup

It was a fashion-filled weekend with many stylish stars stepping out on the red carpet.

Kate Mara: I must say, I’ve enjoyed the actress’s recent tailored looks. She continued her fashion reign in Christian Siriano at the 2017 Humane Society Of The United States To The Rescue! event on Friday (November 10). The rich green fabric of the slim suit was contrasted beautifully with the Jimmy Choo ‘Kerry’ sandals and pink Tyler Ellis bag.

Alison Brie: I almost did not recognize the actress at the ‘The Disaster Artist’ AFI Fest screening on Sunday (November 12). Her Marc Jacobs dress combined with the soft curls had a charming retro feel. It had a Betty Boop quality to it with the sweet bow detail and frill on the bodice contrasting the black belt and platform ankle-strap pumps.

Zoe Saldana: There were a myriad of looks at the Baby2Baby Gala on Saturday (November 11). The ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ actress looked regal in this black gown with suiting elements. The large notched collar framed her face. But, it was the undone skirt which opened to reveal her delicate sandals that made it.

Malin Akerman In Cinq à Sept – Vanity Fair And Saks Fifth Avenue 2017 International Best-Dressed List Party

Malin Akerman attended the Vanity Fair And Saks Fifth Avenue 2017 International Best-Dressed List Party at Academy Mansion on Thursdsay (October 19) in New York City.

Taking the name of the event very seriously Malin brought her A-game wearing an Cinq à Sept Resort 2018 look.

The hero piece is clearly the blazer which has been enhanced by stunning galactic and heart-shaped embroidery.

Her chic design was styled with Alchimia Di Ballin ‘Telesto’ boots, Jenny Bird earrings and a rose-gold clutch.

Malin Akerman In Johanna Ortiz – New York City Ballet’s 2017 Fall Fashion Gala

Malin Akerman looked blooming beautiful at the New York City Ballet’s 2017 Fall Fashion Gala on Thursday (September 28).

Richly coloured gowns seemed to be the look of the night and the actress’s Johanna Ortiz Fall 2017 dress was in keeping with that. A ruffled sash across the body and an abstract floral print offered even more excitement against the scarlet red colour.

Stuart Weitzman shoes, Graziela Gems and EFFY Jewelry complemented the look without distracting from the georgette dress.

I was pleased to see Malin forgo a structured updo and stick with a relaxed hairstyle to echo the softness of the ruffled gown.

Malin Akerman In Naeem Khan – ‘Mother!’ New York Premiere

The ‘Mother!’ premiere on Wednesday (September 13) in New York was brimming with beauties. Malin Akerman joined Emma Stone, Zosia Mamet and Jennifer Lawrence on the black carpet.

Echoing Jennifer’s snowy Dior confection, Malin donned a white Naeem Khan dress. The Spring 2017 stunner was decorated with a cascade of flowers across the arm and body.

She accessorized simply with gold sandals that allowed the flowers to blossom on the red carpet.

Who Wore Yanina Couture Better? Aishwarya Rai Bachchan or Malin Akerman?

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan kick started her Cannes Film Festival campaign wearing a green Yanina Spring 2017 Couture gown fit for a queen.

I loved Malin Akerman in the black version of the frock she wore earlier this week, but Aishwarya wins for me.

I much prefer the green, the modified bodice and the voluminous structure of her tiered skirt.

Malin Akerman In Yanina Couture – Monte Carlo TV Festival Closing Ceremony

Malin Akerman was back on bold form for the Monte Carlo TV Festival Closing Ceremony where she had been promoting ‘Billions’.

I love the colourful floral details and rainbow edging on her dramatic floor-sweeping Yanina Spring 2017 Couture gown.

There was nothing shy and retiring about this playful number.

I particularly like the swept up hairstyle which lets us get a better look at her Jacquie Aiche earrings and Borgioni ear cuff.

A Devi Kroell clutch and Djula ring completed the uplifting vibe oozing from this look.

Pretty and carefree, wouldn’t you agree?

Malin Akerman In PatBo – Golden Nymph Nominees Party

Malin Akerman has been rocking some pretty bold looks over the last few days. On Monday (June 19), however, she took it back to basics at the Golden Nymph Nominees Party in Monte-Carlo, Monaco.

Wearing a salmon pink PatBo dress, she looked worlds away from her ‘Billions’ photocall ensemble.

The black panels on this look are incredibly flattering, as is the sporty neckline and above-the-knee length of the skirt.

The Casadei shoes are a nice addition; they add some whimsy and lengthen the silhouette somewhat. Similarly the Jason of Beverly Hills ring and cute clutch incorporate some gold hues, giving the whole outfit a much-needed lift.

I can’t help comparing this to her previous looks and feeling underwhelmed. It’s a safe choice for the fashion risk-taker and I’d love to see a return to her more daring side.
