Menswear Midweek Red Carpet Roundup

Men 3 december

Here is a quick roundup of the men who have suited up in the name of fashion and movie premieres so far this week.

David Beckham: The former soccer star wore a Dior Homme wool and silk shawl-collar tuxedo. Black on black on black never looked so good. I love how he added a World AIDS Day red ribbon in support of the charity and his wife Victoria Beckham, who is a UNAIDS ambassador, while attending the British Fashion Awards.

Orlando Bloom: While the hair is a tad girlified for my liking, one can’t fault the British actor’s navy blue Lanvin silk shawl-collar tuxedo worn to the world premiere of ‘The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies’ on Monday alongside Evangeline Lilly.

Harry Styles: Always looking very sharp, Harry wore a red vertical-striped suit from Lanvin’s Fall 2014 collection. Probably committing something of a fashion faux pas wearing a French brand to the British Fashion Awards, who has time to nitpick when this mod look suits his style to a T?

Menswear Red Carpet Roundup

Mens 23 Oct

It was another busy night on the red carpet for the heroes of Hollywood. Here is a quick look at what they wore.

Benedict Cumberbatch: The British actor joined Lupita Nyong’o for the opening of the Bally flagship store in London. Wearing a more casual look than we’ve seen from the usually suited and booted actor, this Bally look featuring a pinstriped blazer for added sharpness gets a rousing thumbs up from me.

Eddie Redmayne: Joining fellow Brit star Felicity Jones for the screening of their latest movie, ‘The Theory Of Everything’, the former model was decked out in Gucci once again, also working a semi-casual look. Donning a white dress shirt and camel ’60s sport trousers, the royal-blue plain-knit crew-neck sweater injects a touch of charm, with the sunglasses giving the look a cool finish.

The fellas were back, looking as fine as ever, serving up their suave style on the red carpet last night (October 7).

Luke Evans: The Welsh actor donned a well-tailored three-piece suit to the New York premiere for ‘Dracula Untold’. I’m glad his deep-olive suit isn’t checking the usual grey, black or navy boxes; however, I am missing his longer locks.

Joshua Jackson: The actor joined his boo, Diane Kruger, on the red carpet for ‘The Affair’ series premiere, like Luke stepping out of the box wearing a teal notched-lapel Ermenegildo Zegna suit with just a black tee shirt. His dressy-casual look, which I predict was styled by his missy, makes quite a contemporary impression.

GQ Men Of The Year Awards Menswear Roundup

GQ Men1

Even though the girls grabbed plenty of stares at the GQ Men of the Year Awards, hosted in association with Hugo Boss at The Royal Opera House in London, England on Tuesday (September 2), the evening was about the guys, after all. Many in the handsome bunch were naturally dressed to impress.

Douglas Booth: Rather appropriately attired in a bespoke BOSS Made to Measure suit to accept his Hugo Boss Most Stylish Man award, the actor didn’t leave anyone guessing as to his sartorial cred. He was as charming as ever in this navy-blue number. The perfect bow tie was my favourite part—the icing on the cake.

Dan Stevens: The British actor and one of the evening’s presenters wore a Dior Homme Prussian blue slim, shawl-collar tuxedo with a white cotton wing-tip tuxedo shirt and black patent leather derbies. The colour of the suit was obviously selected to bring out his intense baby-blue gaze, which helped detract from the fact that the black satin bow tie was rather oversized.

Benedict Cumberbatch: The Actor of the Year winner took a monochromatic approach in an all-black three-piece Spencer Hart suit and tie. He could have done better for his big night.

Menswear Weekend Roundup

Menswear1

Over the weekend, a handful of men were out and about in a range of eclectic and colourful ensembles. The traditional suit was completely missing in action among this group of guys, who were none too afraid to push the envelope beyond basic black.

David Gandy: The model was ever so dapper in his Marks & Spencer Best Of British Collection ensemble when he attended the One For The Boys Charity Ball during the London Collections: Men. With that steely stare, this handsome hot topic can pull off this hyper-tailored, three-piece suit including a plaid sport coat, white vest and dark pleated pants.

Kellan Lutz: At the 2014 MuchMusic Awards in Toronto, Canada, the actor hit the red carpet in a burgundy Ermenegildo Zegna two-button, notch lapel suit. His maroon tie may have been a bit askance, but it’s hard to argue with this eggplant-hued statement.

Luke Evans: Making quite the impression, Luke may have even out-dressed David at the One For the Boys Charity Ball. His Fendi Spring 2014 statement featured a chaotic pattern of blue and charcoal lines, which he complemented with a navy tie and patent blue, rubber-soled loafers. Too loud?
