Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Last night Givenchy and Riccardo Tisci hosted a dinner party for the closing of Maria Abramovic’s “The Artist Is Present” Exhibition in New York.

Givenchy devotees Courtney Love and Ciara both attended.

Love looked surprising clean and well turned out wearing a black custom-made strapless sheer Givenchy gown, whilst Ciara opted for another look from the Givenchy Spring 2010 Couture collection which I simply adore on her.  She’s really working it.

Actress/model Veronica Webb didn’t opt for something so moody. She wore a black and white zig-zag patterned silk Givenchy Spring 2010 dress paired with black strappy sandals.

I was really excited to see Bjork back on the red carpet and it looks like she hasn’t lost any of her eccentricity.

The singer wore the boldest and brightest Givenchy look, wearing a gold ruffled dress from the Fall 2008 collection

Although I’m not crazy about her shoe choice, Christina Ricci was the best dressed at this event for me.

I love the sexy lace and feathered skirt of her Fall 2010 dress.

She is the Givenchy girl as she’s mysterious, cool, edgy and is comfortable going from Gothic to sexy.

Liv Tyler opted for Couture like Ciara. Her all black sheer look was made sexy with a pop of red to her lips.

Stella McCartney walked the red carpet with 2 of her Angels from last year – Kate Bosworth was the 3rd angel but has jumped ship tonight.

Stella wore a black one-sleeved satin mullet dress modified from her Fall 2010 collection with black strappy sandals.

Liv Tyler’s look was two Fall 2010 runway looks in one.

She wore a black mullet organza dress over a nude burgundy embroidered dress from the Fall 2010 runway.

Fred Leighton jewels and black peep-toes completed her look.

Kate Hudson finally lowered the neckline on her dress wearing an off-the-shoulder Stella McCartney nude gown with a gold sparkling embroidery and a thigh-high split.

Her look was paired with Fred Leighton jewels and a Casadei.

Kate kinda sticks out a bit here.

I guess mullet dresses aren’t her thing.

Brown Freshman Emma Watson traveled from Rhode Island to London for the Burberry Spring 2010 presentation during London Fashion Week.

Burberry’s Fall 2009 campaign girl traded her air miles for a custom-made Burberry Prorsum Spring 2010 golden dress.

Emma’s gold foil short sleeve front zip dress was paired with a black braided belt and black Burberry platforms.

Her hair was styled in a loose updo to complete her front row superstar look.

Despite only appearing in one movie Freida Pinto sealed her superstar status by not only being front row at the Burberry Spring 2010 presentation last night, but she also wore a dress from the presentation before it had hit the runway.

I adore this soft yellow twisted dress on her, as she is truly glowing.

She opted for a purple studded Burberry clutch and Rupert Sanderson Aspasia fuchsia leopard patent heels to complete her look.

Very interesting coloured accessories for her yellow dress.

Gwyneth Paltrow also opted for a twisted piece from the Spring 2010 collection.

Unfortunately her skirt/t-shirt/chunky boots combo doesn’t quite work for me.

Alexa Chung wore a classic Burberry Prorsum Pre-Fall 2009 trench coat over her LBD.

Ankle boots as standard.

With her trademark Chanel sunglasses in check, Anna Wintour arrived at the presentation wearing a gold and bronzed Oscar de la Renta Fall 2009 dress, with bronze strappy kitten heel sandals.

How very chic Ms. Wintour.

Proving that she truly is the best ambassador for her brand, Victoria Beckham arrived in a black dress from her own Spring 2010 collection.

I’m grateful for this new silhouette, but I must ask how many Trib Two’s does Victoria own?

Lee Na Young wore the same Burberry Prorsum Fall 2009 gold floral dress/black coat combo Melissa George wore recently, which is leading me to believe that maybe if you buy the dress, you get the coat free.

Mary-Kate Olsen I believe traveled to London especially for this presentation.

The actress wore a black tulle dress under a black coat with black beetle bug brooch decorating her coat.

She accessorized with black suede Burberry wedge heels, dark sunglasses and an orange beaded bag.

Carine Roitfeld opted for an all black look which included a peaked shouldered blazer and a YSL vintage dress by Tom Ford.

As did Liv Tyler, who toughen up her look with Burberry Prorsum cut-out leather sandals.

Looking at Stella McCartney’s Resort 2010 collection, we’ve seen it before.

Not in a bad sense, but we’ve actually seen some of these pieces previewed by Stella, over the past few weeks, because as ever Stella is way ahead when it comes to fashion.

She’s been wearing her Resort collection since the Met Gala last month, arriving with her ‘angels’ wearing a lace jumpsuit. At the ‘Time’s 100 Most Influential People In The World’ red carpet, were she wore the lace bowed skirt.

Most recently she wore a floral sculptural Spring 2010 dress to the ‘Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition Preview Party’ in London, and a white playsuit was worn to the ‘Opening Of The New Contemporary Art Centre’ in Venice.

She hasn’t been keeping her new designs to herself. Two of her Met Gala angels, Liv Tyler and Kate Hudson, have also wore pieces from this collection.

I really love this collection. It’s playful, and powerful, yet fun, flirty and feminine.

Redemption.

After a major blip at the MTV Movie Awards, Cameron Diaz is back in my good books, after she arrived at this event looking sensational wearing a Stella McCartney Resort 2010 dress.

You may remember just last week, Stella McCartney gave us a preview of this bold shouldered, sculptural hip dress, when she attended the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition Preview Party.

The white dress with black embroidered details, was paired with black pumps and black plexi bag both by Stella McCartney.

Ruby red lips, completed this simple, yet stunning look.

I’m getting a slight Gothic vibe from Charlize Theron, with the all black look, pale face and red lips.

Her black tank and black blazer, were paired with black lace cut out leggings from Stella’s Fall 2009 collection.

I’m not crazy about the look, but I don’t hate it either.

Liv Tyler can wear anything, and still look so fabulous.

This is a classic example were she just throws on a Stella McCartney tunic dress with champagne-coloured satin heels, and she’s instantly gorgeous.

She has simple make-up, just got out of bed hair, no accessories, no jewels…no fair.

Anjelica Huston works a aqua blue dupioni Stella McCartney Spring 2009 boyfriend blazer, with a all navy ensemble.

Normally I would frown at knee-high biker-style boots on the red carpet, especially in summer, but Daryl Hannah some how makes it work for her.

She could have worn thick black tights with her mini Stella McCartney dress, but she opted for sheer tights instead. Kudos.

Emily Deschanel wore a black leopard print t-shirt, black skinny trousers and grey pumps, for this simple youthful look.

Rachel Zoe would have styled her clients Cameron Diaz and Liv Tyler for this event, so she would known the dress code. But she opted to go against the grain, and wear a Louis Vuitton Spring 2009 oriental-inspired kimono vest, with a feathered tasseled obi belt. Why? Because she can.

Her look was completed with navy silk cropped trousers, a black clutch and those YSL Trib Two’s.

Katharine McPhee also exuded a laid back casual look wearing a black silk dress, with a white blazer, black strappy sandals and beaded clutch all by Stella McCartney.

I adore that clutch. I need it in my life.

Rosario Dawson was elegantly chic wearing a in a navy dress with voluminous sleeves, and a cute bow for added interest.

Again, no accessories were needed, just grey pumps.
