Lily Allen In Roksanda Ilincic – NME Awards 2014

Lily Allen In Roksanda Ilincic - NME Awards 2014

Lily Allen took home the Best Solo Artist award at the annual NME Awards held at the Brixton Academy on Wednesday (February 26) in London.

The singer, who has fully embraced colour recently, wore a directional Roksanda Ilincic Spring 2014 sleeveless fit-and-flare dress.

Her futuristic colour-block frock in orange, white and black with a neon-yellow panel which draws the eye, was styled with white glitter Louboutin pumps and a selection of jewels.

Expressive nail art and silvery eye makeup completed her look.

This look couldn’t be a more perfect choice for Lily and her fun-loving personality.

Lily Allen In House of Holland – Brit Awards 2014

Lily Allen In House of Holland - Brit Awards 2014

Lily Allen was also one of the presenters at the Brit Awards 2014 held at the O2 Arena in London on Wednesday evening (February 19).

Changing out of her vintage red carpet gown, she wore a more playful look from the House of Holland Fall 2014 collection.

Obviously thinking way ahead, her ombre hair bizarrely complemented her sequin colour-block frock with an on-trend sheer hemline.

Opting not to style the look with the runway pants, she did however, wear a bodysuit.

Which look do you prefer? The red carpet or her stage look?

Lily Allen In Vintage Norrell – Brit Awards 2014

Lily Allen In Vintage Norrell - Brit Awards 2014

After a long hiatus from the red carpet, Lily Allen has been popping up at nearly every event lately, including the Brit Awards 2014 held at the O2 Arena in London this evening (February 19).

Dressed in a 1965 Norrell midnight-blue high-neck, long-sleeve sequin gown from vintage emporium WilliamVintage; this is yet another highly dramatic look for Lily.

Some might not be able to appreciate the yellow ombre hair matching her Chanel clutch, but I think it’s a fun quirk to her look.

Lily Allen In Roland Mouret – Elle Style Awards 2014

Lily Allen In Roland Mouret - Elle Style Awards 2014

Lily Allen joined a host of stars at the Elle Style Awards 2014 held at One Embankment in central London this evening (February 18).

Following from her controversially colourful turn at the 2014 BAFTAs earlier in the week, Lily opted for a drastically different look in a chic black Roland Mouret Resort 2014 gown.

The classic floor-length gown with angular neckline could have been a somewhat average choice for Lily, but the singer certainly ensured she put her own edgy spin on it.

With a dramatic short fringe and long pointed pewter nails, Lily added a tonal blue Chanel clutch to lift this dress from simple to fantastic.

It just goes to show what a different styling and accessories can make, doesn’t it?

Lily Allen In Vivienne Westwood – 2014 BAFTAs

Lily Allen In Vivienne Westwood - 2014 BAFTAsLily Allen was no shrinking violet at the 2014 BAFTAs today (February 16) at The Royal Opera House in London, England.

The British songstress, who performed at the awards ceremony, wore her own performance piece on the red carpet in a Vivienne Westwood Couture duchess satin concoction.

She obviously took it upon herself to breathe some vivid life into the evening’s proceedings, colouring outside the lines with this ‘Grande Bubbly Corset Gown’ in coral, pink, orange and magenta.

The spirited, clashing shades of this theatrical ball gown, which was tied with a gigantic bow at the back, weren’t the only attention-grabbers. Lily topped off the look with a pink-fringed hairpiece that radiated from her jet-black updo, along with heavy-handed, flicked black eyeliner.

Sparkling jewels from David Morris were pretty, but easily overpowered by the quirky heft of the ensemble.

It’s almost hard not to at least appreciate the spirit of her funky entrée to the show. It certainly wasn’t boring.

Lily Allen In Chanel – Charles Finch & Chanel Pre BAFTA Party

Lily Allen In Chanel - Charles Finch & Chanel Pre BAFTA Party

Drawing a crowd of movie stars, musicians and fashion royalty, it’s no wonder the Charles Finch and Chanel pre-BAFTA party at Annabel’s was one of the hottest tickets in London last night (February 15). And it was great to see Lily Allen make a stylish appearance.

Lily has slimmed down in recent months and took the opportunity to show off her figure with a body-hugging knee-length monochrome Chanel dress.

The classic tweed dress is elegant and understatedly chic. Lily’s pearl earring and matching hairpiece all added to the pure glamour of this look.

Her chic up-do is the perfect finishing touch while the Chanel bag, although not my favourite style, added a splash of colour.

I can’t however ignore Lily’s disappointing shoe choice. The black, cumbersome platforms completely contrast to the elegance of the rest of the look and I really think let it down. But what do you think?

Lily Allen In Roland Mouret – Centrepoint’s Ultimate Pub Quiz

Lily Allen In Roland Mouret - Centrepoint's Ultimate Pub Quiz

Lily Allen attended Centrepoint’s Ultimate Pub Quiz held at Village Underground on Tuesday (February 4) in London.

Having seen Lily wear many oversized vintage-style dresses in the past, I’m delighted to see a totally different look and silhouette from her.

The singer wore a Roland Mouret Fall 2013 long-sleeved V-neck dress presented in the forever-classic combination of black and white and featuring contemporary satin panels.

As if her dress wasn’t statement enough, she added Alaia animal-print calf-hair-and-suede ankle boots with a chunky platform, which were the utilitarian yin to the yang of her sophisticated dress.

A sapphire-stone gold necklace and simple updo completed her look.

Lily Allen for Elle UK March 2014

Lily-Allen-for-ELLE-UK-March-2014

Lily Allen is the March 2014 cover girl for Elle UK. She graces the cover, shot by David Vasiljevic, wearing the same Miu Miu dress we’ve seen on Lupita Nyong’o; she also wears Spring 2014 looks from Michael van der Ham and Roland Mouret.

It appears that her comeback is set to upset the masses, with her singing her version of the truth as she remains an unapologetic spitfire who apparently has her bit to say about everything from feminism and motherhood, to Beyonce and the pressure on women to conform.

Elle’s March 2014 issue is on newsstands now. Below are some extracts.

On the pressure to be perfect: “Of course I’d rather look like Kate Moss than look like myself”, she admits. “I wish I didn’t feel like that, and I think the reason we feel like that is because of the imagery we’re fed all the time. Women are still expected, in some weird way, to kind of… sit there and look pretty. And not talk.”

On fame: “I don’t want to be a famous person. But [with] the nature of the industry, when I have an album to promote, I do want to be famous. I want people to buy it! And I want them to go to my shows. That’s how it works. I think of myself as a product in that sense. But I don’t want that frenzy. I think it’s weird for children to grow up around that.”

On coming back to music after her threats to retire from the music industry: By the end, I was physically and mentally exhausted and really pissed off”, she said. “This was pre-phone hacking scandal, so those lines hadn’t been drawn. People just didn’t give a shit, and there weren’t any barriers. I did feel at that time that I wanted to leave and never come back. But I’m not the sort of person who can sit at home and look after [children] all day… there was a void. I’m a creative person, I like to speak my mind. Making music is the perfect vehicle for that”.
