Front Row @ Gucci Spring 2018

As we might expect, the front row at the Gucci Spring 2018 show on Wednesday (September 20) during Milan Fashion Week was awash in a head-turning mix of bold prints and bright patterns from the label.

Dakota Johnson:
Starting the front row off with a bang, Dakota easily had one of my favoured looks in this colourful, pleated dress. I love the retro-forward, geometric print and the alluringly artsy mix of hues. The dragon-embroidered bag wouldn’t have been my first choice, though, for this look as it seemed so disparate from the mod mood.

Salma Hayek: Salma’s dress stood out for its prominent lack of pattern. But, it still charmed with the modern-Victorian lace detail and girlie bow at the waist that was very much in keeping with the star’s style.

Li Yuchun/Chris Lee: Never one to do fashion by halves, the entertainer presented a full-on fashion experience here. The cape may have been ‘Blind for Love,’ but I for one, don’t know where to look first between the Gucci signature print T-shirt, intricately patterned skirt, knee socks, and booties—not to mention the ear muffs. This was a performance piece, if nothing else.

Kering Women In Motion Cannes Dinner

The Kering Women in Motion Dinner was held during the 2017 Cannes Film Festival on Sunday (May 21), where Gucci outfitted a range of glamorous girls in attendance.

Charlotte Casiraghi: While the nude lining of this Gucci gown gave me pause, I was more relieved that there was a lining. Plus, the bright, verdant array of flowers offered a chipper and whimsically romantic note to the dress.

Salma Hayek Pinault: I could barely believe my eyes upon seeing Salma rock a pink-hair alter-ego. And, I couldn’t help but love the playful, va-va-voom vibe she was giving in this top-to-toe Gucci look. Maybe pastel-pink blondies really do have more fun.

Li Yuchun: Rocking a clashing array of plaid and prints, only Li could pull off the eclecticism of this Gucci Pre-Fall 2017 ensemble. However, she still couldn’t make me warm up to the neon-green, bow-topped booties.

2017 Billboard Music Awards Red Carpet Roundup

There were more looks that took to the red carpet at the 2017 Billboard Music Awards on Sunday (May 21) in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Nicole Scherzinger: With an overt display of cleavage and ruffles, this Maria Lucia Hohan skin-tone gown was a bit of a dated eyeful.

Lorde: This red Givenchy design was a striking way to wear sheer without flashing the panties. Giuseppe Zanotti shoes completed the look.

Lea Michele: Despite its see-through mentality, this David Koma perforated dress conveyed chic, modern elegance on Lea, especially when styled with a twisted top knot and Cesare Paciotti shoes.

Cannes Fashion For Relief

The Fashion for Relief gala and runway show event was held during the 2017 Cannes Film Festival on Saturday (May 21), with attendees turning up the volume on their own fashion statements for the evening.

Naomi Campbell: Before gracing the runway at the event, the supermodel stunned in an Atelier Versace Spring 2017 gown with Santoni sandals and Bulgari jewels. The slithery, slit-to-there was Naomi’s version of a Grecian goddess look; I loved the movement of the diaphanous skirt and the shimmer of the knotted overlay that infused the look with an intriguing edge.

Uma Thurman: After her questionable last look, Uma redeemed herself a bit in this Atelier Versace embellished number styled with Giuseppe Zanotti sandals. However, am I alone in thinking the dress felt a bit dated?

Queen Rania Al-Abdullah of Jordan
: I have a feeling that this Givenchy Haute Couture by Riccardo Tisci dress was far more beautifully perceived in person with its tonal embroidery and lace underskirt. Its pristine-white polish is what kept me most interested.

Lewis Hamilton
: The British race car driver didn’t leave his sporty edge at home, bringing it to Cannes with this Gucci ‘Bee’ bomber jacket.

Li Yuchun In Gucci – ‘Okja’ Cannes Film Festival Premiere

If you thought Li Yuchun never did anything but the androgynous, prepared to be amazed by her Gucci look for the ‘Okja’ Cannes Film Festival premiere this evening (May 19).

I always love seeing the more traditional dresses from the Asian and Indian actresses, so I was delighted to see some tradition steeped into her roaring tiger cheongsam dress.

The detailing is exquisite that oo one can ever say this was too costumey.

One can only imagine how long this took to create.

Li Yuchun In Ellery – Cannes Film Festival Opening Gala Dinner

Despite her petite frame, Li Yuchun has never been afraid of making a bold statement.

The Chinese megastar changed out of her Maison Margiela Couture look for the Cannes Film Festival opening gala on Wednesday (May 17), into something less costumey.

I love how her Ellery Pre-Fall 2017 look taps into the zeitgeist of the upcoming season with its classic tailoring and extravagant ruffle detailing, and how she kept the flares for a retro, chic touch.

Never one to shy away from over-sized, mannish proportions – if anything she gravitates towards them – I’m sure you’ll view this as a more successful outing than the first.
