Red Carpet Fashion Awards

Lea Seydoux & Adele Exarchopoulos In Miu Miu - ‘Prix Lumières’ CeremonyLéa Seydoux and Adèle Exarchopoulos attended the ‘Les Lumières 2014’ cinema awards 19th ceremony, hosted on Monday (January 20) at Espace Cardin in Paris, France. The two French ‘it’ girls, who were recognized for their work in ‘Blue is the Warmest Colour,’ were both decked in complementary, head-to-toe Miu Miu looks for the occasion, which is only apropos as they star in the label’s Resort 2014 campaign.

Léa Seydoux: Leveraging her rich flame-toned hair, which was slicked into a low knot, Léa wore a black-and-white, colour-blocked dress, accented with a cascading orange paillette-embroidered neckline from the Resort 2014 collection. What really brought the look together for me was the added pop of her fiery pumps: sweet and sassy, all at once.

Adèle Exarchopoulos: Like Léa, Adèle selected an embellished short frock, hers a black, silk-crepe sleeveless number with a green paillette-embroidered collar, also from Resort 2014. Her footwear likewise delivered an extra punch, as those black satin Miu Miu t-straps featured a sparkling, crystal-encased heel. You may recall that another young trendsetter, Kiernan Shipka, wore a similar incarnation of this dress last fall.

Best Dressed Of The Week - Lea Seydoux In Prada & Miu Miu, Paloma Faith In Burberry Prorsum

Our first Best Dressed of the Week of 2014 was quite a close-fought race.

Only one percent separated the ladies, with Lea Seydoux in her colourful printed Miu Miu dress and Prada coat your eventual winner.

I’m sure no one is surprised my heart went to Paloma Faith in her goosebump-inducing Burberry Prorsum Spring 2014 ensemble; as always, my girl never lets me down. The look was soft and sensual with plenty of drama.

Both making us consider pastel-hued coats this winter.

Best Dressed Of The Week - Ian Somerhalder in Z Zegna & David Gandy

Two dapper dans took the prize for best dressed in the menswear department.

Ian Somerhalder in Z Zegna was your winner; something about his cheeky charm and the relaxed nature of his look no doubt won you over.

I selected David Gandy because, well, he is David Gandy, and that is now synonymous with great style and suave three-piece suits with impeccable tailoring.

2014 National Board Of Review Awards Gala - Inside ArrivalsAt the 2014 National Board of Review Awards Gala on Tuesday, French actress Lea Seydoux stunned with a moody makeup look quite different from what we are typically seeing on the red carpet right now–Understated brows and no mascara–and the look is divine.

Makeup artist Jake Bailey was inspired by the rich colors in Lea’s attire to create a bold jewel-toned lip and subtle gilded eyes.

First, he prepped her face with Sjal Skincare Cela Intuitif Light Cellular Renewal Crème and her lips with By Terry Baume de Rose. Once everything was moisturized, Jake then buffed a small amount of Estée Lauer Double Wear Light Stay-In-Place Makeup all over Lea’s face and neck.

Then he set to work on the eyes. Jake used the NARS Balthazar Duo Eyeshadow and focused the gold shade (left) on the inner corners of the eyes, and then used the saffron colour (right) on the middle of the lid and in the crease. Then he took the green shade (left) in the NARS Blade Runner Duo Eyeshadow and applied it to the upper and lower outer corners of the eyes and in the crease for added depth and to pick up the emerald green of her blouse.

Jake left Lea’s brows completely natural–almost unheard of for a red carpet appearance–particularly right now–and simply set them in place using clear brow gel.

On her cheeks, Jake used Hourglass Illume Crème-to-Powder Bronzer Duo in Bronze Light and mixed equal parts of both shades to create a “glowy, bronzy cream blush” and then blended it onto the cheeks and lightly across the hairline and temples.

Finally, for the bold lips, Jake used Rimmel Lasting Finish 1000 Kisses Lip Liner in Wine all over the entire lip and then added a touch more of the By Terry Baume De Rose for some shine.

The result is a look that offers a stunning, understated drama. Perfection.

Lea

Lea Seydoux In Prada - 2014 National Board Of Review Awards Gala

Lea Seydoux attended the 2014 National Board Of Review Awards Gala held at Cipriani 42nd Street on Tuesday (January 7) in New York City.

The French actress is enjoying mixing colours at the moment, selecting a Prada Spring 2014 look incorporating an emerald-green silk top styled with an orange skirt with complementary emerald stones.

What perfects this look for me are her divine lilac suede pumps and, of course, the moody rouge lip colour.

It’s not a mix of colours that would immediately spring to mind, but it absolutely works.

Lea Seydoux In Miu Miu - EE Rising Star Award Photocall

Lea Seydoux attended the nominations photocall for the EE Rising Star award held at BAFTA on Monday (January 6) in London.

The French actress, who is the face of Miu Miu’s Resort 2014 ad campaign, opted for a two-in-one look, much like Lupita Nyong’o, wearing a pretty pink wool Prada Spring 2014 embellished coat over an even prettier Miu Miu Spring 2014 floral-print long-sleeved high-neck frock styled with mint-green Miu Miu suede pumps with orange embellished detailing.

I am hoping you all love this look as much as I do.

Some may think it’s not in season, or that its over embellished for a daytime look, but I love that its colourful, fun, cheery and banishes the winter blues I have been having since returning from vacation.

Simple makeup and a no-fuss updo perfected the look.
