Laura Dern In Proenza Schouler – 2018 Met Gala

Laura Dern was also at the 2018 Met Gala on Monday (May 7) in New York City.

I’m afraid I couldn’t really get on board with this Proenza Schouler colour-blocked, black-and-white design.

It was a dress of such stark contrasts. And, as much as I appreciated the vintage Alexander Calder crown-like necklace by Stephen Russell, it seemed to be a wasted afterthought here to check the box on the theme.

Rings by Fred Leighton completed the look.

2018 Vanity Fair Oscar Party Red Carpet Roundup

The crush of beauties continued in full force on the red carpet of the 2018 Vanity Fair Oscar Party last night (March 4) in Beverly Hills, California.

Odeya Rush: The young starlet was a vision in this neon-bright chartreuse Vivienne Westwood Couture gown. The sculptural, one-shoulder ruffle detail is nothing we haven’t seen before, but the bold colour made the look feel dynamic. I do think she could have offered up a more youthful beauty look—and less bronzer—to accompany the sophisticated sass of the gown.

Dree Hemingway: There was a delicate daintiness to this Valentino Pre-Fall 2018 nude, embellished lace gown, which Dree echoed in her minimal hair and makeup. The yellow-tinged, ribbon belt made all the difference in breathing a bit of life into the neutral dress, with Repossi jewels to complete the look.

Laura Dern In Calvin Klein by Appointment – 2018 Oscars

Laura Dern stepped out this evening (March 4) at the 2018 Oscars in Hollywood, joining Helen Mirren, Lindsey Vonn and Salma Hayek.

The ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ actress is presenting at the awards and graced the red carpet in a Calvin Klein by Appointment gown.

She has an innate sense of what works with her statuesque frame and this graceful style certainly does. She looks like a regal beauty with the white ruffle on the one shoulder adding a touch of whimsy.

Front Row @ Calvin Klein Fall 2018

There was to be no shortage of stars on the front row at the Calvin Klein Fall 2018 show, held on Tuesday (February 13), where the looks were just as diverse as the ladies themselves.

Nicole Kidman: I will always struggle with how satiny fabrics photograph, but seeing this Calvin Klein Spring 2018 look translated off the runway on Nicole, and I think she did it justice—even in spite of its cowgirl shirt-meets-retro diner uniform mood.

Lupita Nyong’o: Not only was the periwinkle hue of the blouse a radiant offering, the drama of the pouf sleeves added a layer of girly romance–to which the black skirt merely acted as the canvas to celebrate it.

Margot Robbie: I love how the ‘I, Tonya’ actress took this Calvin Klein Fall 2017 jacket and stripped away the rest of the elements to make a dress. It had an insouciant chicness about it; a vibe that was only furthered by her mismatched sandals, giant hoop earrings, and slicked-back bun.

90th Annual Academy Awards Nominee Luncheon Red Carpet Roundup

The 90th Annual Academy Awards Nominee Luncheon on Monday (February 5) in Beverly Hills, California saw more stars in attendance along with Saoirse Ronan, Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie.

Laurie Metcalf: While many attendees opted for shorter frocks, Laurie went for a long Temperley London gown that featured a striking metallic pattern. Yet, it was geared more to an evening red carpet. Pierre Hardy ‘Blondie’ sandals completed her look.

Allison Janney: I like the rich, inky colour of this Georges Chakra Couture Fall 2017 dress. It’s the illusion neckline and side cutouts that offer a less modern element.

Sally Hawkins: I think the extra-roomy proportions of this dotted Rosie Assoulin Spring 2018 ensemble created more of a loungewear vibe than was likely intended.

Laura Dern In Christian Dior Couture – 2018 SAG Awards

Laura Dern joined the ‘Big Little Lies’ cast at the 2018 SAG Awards on Sunday (January 21) in Los Angeles, California.

The Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Miniseries or Television Movie nominee was outfitted in a Christian Dior Fall 2017 Couture dress.

My inclination is that this would have been better suited to a performance piece where we could see the fringe in motion — like we saw on the runway.

I’m afraid that the details on the dress will largely be lost in static photos.

Of course, I am sure many will say they’ve seen enough of the sheer fabric and the visible briefs already.
