Red Carpet Fashion Awards

On Trend Award
White was the trend colour of the night, and colour of Kyra Sedgwick’s stunning Vera Wang gown.

I love the jeweled detail and the grey sash across the waist.

The grey detail across the bodice bothered until I concluded that the gown may have looked too bridal without it.

The beautiful actress added Fred Leighton jewels to her look.

Thanks to Laura and Mahima for pointing out that this dress is similar to the Vera Wang gown America Ferrera wore to the 2009 SAG Awards.

Are you swooning? I am.

Firstly Hilary Swank is firstly wearing my favourite colour on the red carpet – electric blue, plus she looks exquisite in her Calvin Klein gown.

I’ve been in love with her since “Million Dollar Baby” and she always delivers such elegance on the red carpet.

Her custom-made blue chiffon gown was paired with an iridescent folding Calvin Klein clutch, Jimmy Choo Verity multi strap sandals and Martin Katz jewels.

J’Adore.

If Nicole Kidman is L’Wren Scott’s #1 fan, Kyra Sedgwick is #2.

Kyra has an amazing body, which is always celebrated in L’Wren Scott’s figure-hugging designs.

Last night she wore wearing a peony-print lacquered tweed cap-sleeve dress which just looked amazing on her.

TV personality Paula Zahn wore the same green reptile print L’Wren Scott Fall 2009 dress which we’ve seen on Sarah Jessica Parker.

Worst Dressed Award
The second I saw Elizabeth Moss I wondered why she would wear an asymmetrical gown with that stunning necklace.

But it appears that the jeweled neckline is built into her Grecian inspired Reem Acra taupe gown.

Between the creases and the draping I just couldn’t love this gown.

Tried To Love It, But Couldn’t Award
I loved this Bottega Veneta Fall 2009 gown on the runway, but I don’t think it works on Leighton Meester at all.

She’s normally edgy on the red carpet, and I agree this is not the place to go edgy but I was just bored by her look, and she looked really bored on the red carpet too.

The only thing I like here is her Bottega Veneta clutch, as her hair and make-up is pretty awful too.

Most Disappointing Award
Kyra Sedgwick is always stunning on the red carpet, but I found it very difficult to love this L’Wren Scott Spring 2010 pink dress.

Kyra and L’Wren Scott often work very well together, but I really didn’t like the pink, nor the embellishments.

It felt too cutesy for a grown woman.

Should’ve Worn A Gown Award
Nothing appealed to me with regards to Mary Louise Parker dress.

Firstly I would’ve preferred her in a gown. Secondly I don’t like the bow on the hip and lastly the two-tone purple is hideous.

Worst Dressed Runner-Up Award
Padma Lakshmi was so close to being voted worst dressed. I just hated that red floral detail on the hip.

It was so unnecessary. Despite that it was a pretty boring Badgley Mischka gown anyway.

Least Flattering Award
I would be surprised if Sarah Silverman ever makes it onto the Best Dressed list, but this gown had great potential.

It’s a great colour on her, but the gown adds at least 15ins to each side of her hips.

How is this a good thing?

Pukey Pink Award
What’s with all the pukey pink gowns on the red carpet.

I know it’s a fresh summer time colour, but I really didn’t think it looked good on Toni Collette.

She is usually one to watch on the red carpet, but the look fails to impress me.

Pre-Poxie, Victoria Beckham, Eva Longoria and son Romeo went shopping on Rodeo Drive.

Victoria was wearing a red Balenciaga dress with puff sleeves, red Christian Louboutin Rolandos, whilst carrying a tan Hermes Kelly Longue.

Kyra Sedgwick wore the same dress when she attended the premiere of Taking Chance on Wednesday night.

The actress wore her dress with tights, and knee-high lace up boots.

I hate to be predictable, but Victoria wins this hands down.

Worst Dressed Award
I would really like to know what was going on in America Ferrera’s mind when she picked this Vera Wang gown.

The colour surprisingly washed her out, the draping on the hips is extremely unflattering, and the black tulle pieces that criss-crosses across her bodice was just annoying and only added to the overall disappointment of this gown.

Deja Vu Award
Penelope Cruz fails again with the same hairstyle as the Golden Globe Awards, and another dress that fails to wow me despite being by Azzedine Alaia.

Most Underwhelming Award
Angelina Jolie, we get it. We get that fact that you would look great in a potato sack. We also get the fact that you don’t care about how you look on the red carpet, and that you no longer try.

But you could have nipped in this Max Azria Spring 2009 gown just a tad to give it some shape.

Oh and sweetie, you have the dress on back to front. It was presented as a plunge-neck dress.

Non Supporting Actress Award
Emily Blunt’s Pamella Roland Spring 2009 silver dress sparkled. It was gorgeous.

But the top half just was very uncomfortable to look at. I know it would have been impossible to wear a bra with dress, but the twins lacked support.

Most Disappointing Award
Kyra Sedgwick always looks spectacular every red carpet season. This season, I have not been swept off my feet by her.

This vintage Chanel dress was very ill fitting around the bust for me. Hopefully she will wow me at the Oscars.

I Should Be Thankful It’s Not Black But…Award
But Rosario Dawson doesn’t wear this pewter Dolce & Gabbana mermaid gown well, which is surprising for someone with her curves.

The dress is very fussy around the bust area, and has also been worn by another celebrity much better.

Worst White Award
There was a lot of white on the red carpet last night, but Olivia Wilde’s was the least flattering. Surprisingly it was a Ralph Lauren Spring 2009 gown.

Too Dark Award
I love the dramatic nature of this Carolina Herrera strapless gown that Marcia Cross is wearing. But I just think it was way too dark for her.

This would suit someone like Dita von Teese, who can wear dark Gothic type gowns with her pale skin.

Worst Desperate Housewives Star Award
Nicolette Sheridan wore a sea blue asymmetric Roberto Cavalli Resort 2009 dress. I like the dress, but there is something about Nicolette that cheapens the whole look for me.

Too Casual Award
Tina Fey wore a black strapless Brian Reyes dress, which is cute, but it would have been even cuter on Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens or someone else around that age group.

Of the rest, Laura Linney was definitely the best.

I love the mellow yellow colour of her asymmetrical Elie Saab Spring 2008 Couture gown, and the embellished waist. She looked outstanding.

Taraji P. Henson looked gorgeous in her J.Mendel Fall 2008 chiffon gown. It was quite dramatic, without going over the top.

She completed her look with a black satin Mary Norton clutch.

The trend for wearing electric blue continues with Mary-Louise Parker. Her Carlos Miele Spring 2009 gown had asymmetrical tiers from the bodice, and a chiffon hem and train.

She accessorized her gown with silver jewels and a Mary Norton clutch and Chopard jewels.

Sandra Bullock was another one of my favourites in this vanilla Dior gown.

I love how her hair falls to the opposite direction of her asymmetrical gown.

Rachel Griffiths wore a one-shouldered golden Ralph Rucci silk gown, with a Judith Leiber vintage handbag Decades Inc, Liseanne Frankfurt jewels and bronze Vanessa Noel heels.

Kyra Sedgwick did not wear L’Wren Scott as I had predicted. Instead she wore a strapless red belted Oscar de la Renta gown, with Fred Leighton jewels.

Amanda Seyfried wore an ethereal pearl Stella McCartney silk asymmetric gown, which had a beaded detail on the shoulder.

She completed her look with a Daniel Swarovski clutch.

Heidi Klum wore an incredibly cute strapless vintage James Galanos pouf dress, with black and red polka dots from Decades.

She completed her look with Christian Louboutin multi buckle sandals.

I was not crazy about Isla Fisher’s two-tone nude Carlos Miele Spring 2009 gown. I would have liked it to be all one colour.

Elisabeth Moss was one of the many ladies who picked red last night, hers was vintage Givenchy, and she picked Garrard jewels to complete her look.

Jane Krakowski opted for a J. Mendel gown, which she wore with Ivanka Trump Fine Jewelry.

Melissa George does not do safe, which is why her thigh-high split ice blue Armani Prive gown has an interesting black fan detail on the bodice.

Tina Fey’s Roberto Cavalli plunging gown, also did not wow me.

Surprise guest of the night was Alek Wek. I don’t remember the last time I saw her on the red carpet.

The supermodel wore a Christian Dior Fall 2008 mini dress, which showed off her impossibly long legs.

Vanessa Hudgens wore a nude beaded Alberta Ferretti gown, with a candy coloured necklace.

Madeline Zima looks youthful but elegant. She has an amazing figure and I love how this dress shows her shape and the curves hit all the right points.

Viola Davis’ gown for some reason reminded me of Gwyneth Paltrow’s Zac Posen Oscar 2007 gown with shape and the lines.

She dressed well for her figure, and the colour is so complimentary to her skin.

Maria Menounos wore a cute purple ruffle one shoulder Ina Soltani gown.

Samantha Harris wore the same designer, but picked her dress in the colour of the moment – electric blue.

Christina Hendricks has curves to die for. The stunning redhead looked ravishing wearing a custom black silk sculpted strapless Tadashi gown.

Anna Paquin wore a purple Herve Leroux gown, which had a ruched bodice and draped detail on the side.
