Kristen Wiig In Vera Wang – 2014 Emmy Awards

Kristen Wiig In Vera Wang – 2014 Emmy Awards

Kristen Wiig transformed into a sun-kissed Hollywood starlet for the 2014 Emmy Awards at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on Monday (August 25). The SNL alum wore a Jean Harlow-inspired white halter silk charmeuse custom gown with high slit from Vera Wang.

Kristen’s new look included a carefree blonde do, smoky eyes and glossy lips. A couple of bangles from Fred Leighton and Jennifer Meyer were her only accessories. We wonder if the addition of a diamond necklace wouldn’t have been appropriate for the occasion.

This is one of Kristen’s best Red Carpet looks, but the custom dress seemed like it could have used a little more tailoring up top. What do you think?

Kristin Wiig In Balenciaga – 2014 Met Gala

Kristin Wiig In Balenciaga - 2014 Met Gala

Kristin Wiig attended the 2014 Met Gala as the guest of Alexander Wang, creative director of Balenciaga, on Monday (May 5) in New York City.

Wearing a custom Balenciaga black bonded-crepe dress with a sequined ‘petal’ skirt over black silk cigarette trousers, the unique look stood out amongst all the gowns.

Kristin styled her high-fashion look with Balenciaga ‘Simple Cage’ rhinestone cuffs, black suede pointed-toe Balenciaga stilettos, and diamond and white-gold Boucheron ‘Ava’ earrings.

When I said I wanted Victoria Beckham to work a more unique look, this is exactly what I had in mind.

Kristen Wiig In J. Mendel – ‘Hateship Loveship’ New York Screening

Kristen Wiig In J Mendel - 'Hateship Loveship' New York Screening

Kristen Wiig attended the ‘Hateship Loveship’ screening held at the Museum of Modern Art on Tuesday (April 8) in New York City.

Known for her love of all things minimalist, usually of the Balenciaga variety, I was somewhat taken aback by this colour-block asymmetrical choice from J. Mendel.

I can picture this sleeveless Fall 2014 dress – which features a solid leather mock neck and front panel at the bodice, a solid leather waistband and a draped asymmetric wrap-front skirt – on Chloe Sevigny, Cate Blanchett, Jennifer Connelly and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley without the second layer of the skirt, but Kristen, who has worked an edgy look or two in her time, doesn’t sell it to me. Not one bit, and it’s got nothing to do with the safe Alejandro Ingelmo ‘Tron’pumps.

Rather, it’s because it feels so disingenuous and so far removed from her usual style – not that I don’t appreciate her stepping out of her comfort zone.

I love her and the dress, but not her in the dress.

Kristin Wiig In Valentino – ‘The Spoils Of Babylon’ LA Premiere

Kristin Wiig In Valentino - 'The Spoils Of Babylon' LA Premiere

Kristen Wiig attended the screening of ‘The Spoils Of Babylon’ held at DGA Theater on Tuesday (January 7) in Los Angeles, California.

The actress wore a Valentino arabesque long-sleeved sheer tulle dress with a bambolina skirt from the Spring 2014 collection.

While I love that Kristen opted for such a bold design, which is somewhat out of her comfort zone, I’m not too enamoured by the leg-stumpifying Casadei shoes. They don’t really complement the exotic nature of the dress.

Overall, this isn’t my favourite look from Kristen; she has done and can do better.

Kristen Wiig In Michael Kors – ‘The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty’ New York Screening

Kristen Wiig In Michael Kors – ‘The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty’ New York Screening2

Kristen Wiig attended the ‘The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty’ screening on Wednesday (December 18) in New York City.

Keeping up the masculine trend kick-started by Kim Basinger earlier in the week, Kristen wore a Michael Kors look featuring a white shirt with leg-of-mutton sleeves, sleek black pants and the brand’s signature oversized black bow.

Dark-grey Christian Louboutin ‘Iriza’ pumps – designed with a pointed toe and cut-out sides for an alluring feminine shape – and a selection of House of Lavande rings accessorized her look.

Considering the bow, perhaps her hair up would’ve been ideal, but it doesn’t detract too much from her look.

Do you like Kristen’s feminine take on the menswear trend?
