Lake Bell In Tommy Hilfiger - 2014 Met Gala

Lake Bell continued to stake her claim as the chicest mother-to-be in town at the 2014 Met Gala held in New York City on Monday (May 5).

Wearing a bright red Tommy Hilfiger strapless gown, the exquisite piece not only featured a satin-trimmed neckline but also a fanned-out pleated skirt.

I’m not a huge fan of the Monique Pean fossilized woolly mammoth, tooth root and grey dinosaur-bone collar necklace which matched her ring, but I do love the red plexi clutch and overall styling of this look.

Did she lose you at the necklace?

Stacy Martin In Miu MIiu - 2014 Met Gala

Stacy Martin attended the 2014 Met Gala in New York City on Monday (May 5) alongside fellow Miu-Miu-clad actresses Elizabeth Olsen and Dianna Agron.

Of the three, this custom bicolor dress stood out for me, featuring a turquoise sheer-organza bodice incorporated with a red brocade skirt which is enhanced with metal and fringed beaded embroidery.

Adding yet more colour to her look, she added oval turquoise earrings, red and lilac patent Miu Miu platform sandals and a red satin Miu Miu bag with a crystal handle.

Perfection from head to toe, or would you remove some of the accessories and let the dress shine alone?

Erykah Badu In Givenchy Couture - 2014 Met Gala

Erykah Badu attended the 2014 Met Gala on Monday (May 5) as the guest of Riccardo Tisci.

Wearing a head-to-toe custom Givenchy Couture outfit, she was certainly marching to the beat of her own drum showcasing her sartorial style.

The look featured a black jumpsuit worn with a white satin coat embroidered with crystals which matched her silk headscarf and wool hat.

Givenchy Couture silver earrings and black Givenchy leather sandals completed her look.

This is how you make an impact and stand out on a red carpet with a sea of 5ft long trains.

I wonder if that hat will catch on?

Gabrielle Union In Prada - 2014 Met Gala

Gabrielle Union joined a host of beauties who wore Prada to the 2014 Met Gala on Monday (May 5) in New York City.

The look featured a custom black crop top embellished with Swarovski crystals, beads and onyx stones paired with a knee-length feather-fringed black plastic wrap skirt.

I wanna love it, but the better half of my brain says there is too much going on and she failed to make it work.

A black leather Prada clutch embellished with grommets and onyx crystals plus Prada black satin sandals accessorized her look, with a braided updo adding the final nail.

Dakota Johnson In Jason Wu - 2014 Met Gala

Dakota Johnson attended the 2014 Met Gala in New York City on Monday (May 5).

Taking the dark and decadent route, the ’50 Shades of Grey’ actress opted for two shades of blue, wearing a custom Jason Wu navy micro-beaded camisole with a navy silk-gauze full skirt styled with a Lee Savage clutch, Christian Louboutin sandals, Carolina Amato black satin gloves with pearl buttons, and Jennifer Meyer 18k yellow-gold channel-set studs.

While the gloves bring the theme into the look, I don’t think they add anything but confusion.

I also wish she’d swept back her hair.

Sarah Paulson In Prada - 2014 Met Gala

When I saw Sarah Paulson on the red carpet at the 2014 Met Gala on Monday (May 5), my first thought was ‘this is much more like it’.

Following a succession of twee dresses and uncoordinated styling, this Prada look suits her style to a tee.

Dark and mysterious with plenty of intrigue, her custom Prada bottle-green tea-length organza gown featured a bodice framed by silver leather piping and a skirt embroidered with geometric Swarovski stones, crystals and plastic beads.

The amazing look was complemented with black embroidered satin pumps, a Prada silver leather clutch and IPPOLITA 18k gold ‘Rock Candy Gelato’ emerald-cut earrings.

A rare 10 out of 10 from me.

Are you equally swept away by this look?
