Social Events Of The Week

PIX11 Morning News, New York

Actress Michelle Monaghan was seen at the PIX11 Morning News studios in New York to promote her latest film “Trucker”.

She wore a black and cream Elie Saab Fall 2009 dress with a graphic stitch detail.

Her dress was paired with black suede pumps.

I prefer her colour combination to the one presented on the runway.

“Late Show With David Letterman”, New York

Eliza Dushku wore a cream crew-neck Kimberly Ovitz Jacob jersey mini dress which has pintucks throughout, paired with two tone Marni heels and a Tory Burch studded messenger bag.

For a second I thought she was Mariah Carey with those shade on.

New York City Premiere of Milton Hershey School Documentary, New York

When I first saw this Chris Benz Fall 2009 floral print dress one-sleeved dress on the runway, I wondered who would be crazy enough to wear this on the red carpet.

Paula Patton did this week with blue suede Sergio Rossi heels.

I’m surprised to admit that I think she totally look great in the dress.   This mix of colours really complements her skin-tone.

Nomads Two Worlds Art Preview, Australia

Fergie’s Karl Lagerfeld Fall 2009 black dress with a v-shaped textured panel is very similar to the dress Katy Perry wore from the same collection to Lagerfeld Spring 2010 show during Paris Fashion Week.

With her hair tightly pulled back Fergie wore her dress with black pumps and an Alexander McQueen Faithfull leather glove clutch.

Grand Opening Of The Famous Cupcakes Beverly Hills, LA

Kim Kardashian showed off some of her surprisingly toned abs wearing a black Pencey open back dress, which she paired with black pumps.

Newlywed Khloe Kardashian opted for an Alexander Wang one-sleeve jersey dress paired with the increasingly popular Christian Louboutin Bridget lace ankle boots.

Who Wore Rafael Cennamo Better? Kim Kardashian or Alicia Witt

Earlier this summer Kim Kardashian was at the Monte Carlo Television Festival to promote her reality TV show “Keeping Up With The Kardashian’s”.

She wore a strapless Rafael Cennamo white flowing gown, with a charcoal feather bodice whilst getting ready for her elegant photo shoot at the L’Hermitage Hotel.

She was ready for her close-up sporting loose waves and a ravishing red pout.

Last night actress Alicia Witt wore the same gown when she walked the red carpet at the 2009 Primetime Emmy Awards.

The red head accessorized with forest green clutch, a large ring and a selection of bracelets.

I love the way Alicia soften the look so she wins for me.

Social Events Of The Weekend

Svedka Adult Playground Presents Brent Bolthouse Photography Exhibit, LA

I said to myself last week that Kim Kardashian’s lighter locks would grow on me, but it hasn’t yet. I still really dislike the look.

At this event she wore an Alexander Wang denim corset top with a black mini skirt, oversized blazer and black pumps.

Like the look, hate the hair.

Nicky Hilton is getting a lot of wear out of her Christian Louboutin Very Prive studded peep-toe pumps which she pairs with a cute floral Topshop dress.

Rumor Willis Celebrates Her 21st Birthday at TAO, Las Vegas

For once I don’t hate Rumer Willis look – although I’m not crazy about her shoe choice – but I love her silver mini sparkling Toni Maticevski dress.

I was confident if she dyed her hair back to its original dark colour this would improve her overall look, and it shows here.

Audrina Patridge helped celebrate Rumer’s 21st birthday.

She arrived wearing a micro LBD from Alice + Olivia like only she can, with predictable black peep-toes.

Catalyst at Terranea Resort, LA

AnnaLynne McCord paired a pink layered tank with black pants and sexy black t-bar heels with gold trims.

Camille Guaty looked really cute wearing a ultra girlie Jill Stuart strapless floral dress which she accessorized with a chunky gold necklace and gold strappy Jimmy Choo sandals.

It looks like Victoria Beckham isn’t the only ex-Spice Girl to become stale.

Melanie Brown is wearing a Herve Leger dress which Sophia Bush and Leona Lewis wore a year ago with snake-skin Christian Louboutin Differa sandals.

The TAG Heuer Cocktail Reception, Toronto

With a blue and grey sleeved Thuy Fall 2009 dress, Maria Sharapova wore her favourite Coe Haan heels whilst carrying a gold clutch.

Boa Restuarant, LA

Even off the red carpet Amanda Bynes still opts for LBDs to go dinner with friends.

The fact that both her heels and clutch are not black, is a step in the right direction.

Playhouse nightclub, Las Vegas

Aubrey O’Day wore a multi-coloured striped Herve Leger Fall 2008 dress with ivory Christian Louboutin Differa sandals.

I do like her dress mostly because of the colour, but also because she’s not spilling out of it.

10.08.09 Worst Dressed

2009 Teen Choice Awards – Worst Dressed

Worst Dressed Award
I’m not sure who designed Megan Fox’s dress, but by looking at it I would guess it’s been modified to be way shorter than intended.

The material is interesting, but I would have preferred her heels to be a lighter colour.

The only plus side here is that her make-up artist has finally found the right shade of foundation for her.

UPDATE: The dress is YSL. Shocking no?

Most Predictable Award
Well, well.

No prizes for those of you who would’ve predicted Amanda Bynes would wear a Herve Leger dress, black pumps and style her with a center parting.

Why? Because this is what she does time after time.  Some would call it her signature look.  I would call it uninspiring.

If she was a clock you could set watch by her.

Nice Dress, Shame About The Hair Award
This was one of my favourite dresses from the Adam Fall 2009 collection.  It’s cute, heavily embellished, sassy and edgy at the same time.

So imagine my horror to see Jennette McCurdy had teamed her fabulous dress with mum hair.

Most Disappointing Award
I knew it.

I knew it would only be a matter of time before Kim Kardashian did something drastic after her break-up with Reggie Bush.

The formerly raven haired star teased us back in April wearing a blonde wig, but unfortunately this is the real deal as Kim has opted for a lighter blonde ‘do.

My disappointment starts with the fact that Kim’s gorgeous dark locks is the one thing that made her stand out in LA .

I’m sure it will eventually grow on me.

The star picked a white Stella McCartney Spring 2009 plunging dress with gold Gucci Iman heels to show Mr Bush what he is missing.

De Ja Vu Award
I’m sorry but just because she’s Britney Spears and she’s made a comeback, it doesn’t mean I will automatically like this look.

For me the problem remains the same. Ratty hair extensions and mini dresses that just don’t flatter.

Her LBD is by Roberto Cavalli, with Jimmy Choo ‘Gesture’ sandals.

Worst Hair Award
Someone call pest control, there’s a rat on Rumer Willis’ shoulder.

The only good thing about Rumer’s hair is that she’s going darker, but the style I really dislike.

I’ve understood those backward plaits.

Rumer arrived wearing a LBD with an embellished bodice and black satin Casadei pumps.

I Am 17, Going On 50
There is something about Selena Gomez’ look these days that hasn’t been sitting well with me lately.

Her Baby Phat dress is a gorgeous lilac colour, but the hair ages her.

Hopefully she’ll get back into her teen groove again soon.

I Don’t Think I Will Ever Like Her Style Award
Miley Cyrus wore a shimmering Haute Hippie black sequin mini skirt, with a white Hanes tank that was light enough for me and the world to see her bra.

If that wasn’t bad enough she over accessorized making a simple look appear way too busy.

She later changed into a Jenny Packham Fall 2009 embellished dress with a fringe hem which is stunning, but as always there’s something about Miley that just brings down the whole look and makes it look bad.

“Orphan” LA Premiere”

Vera Farmiga, who is the lead actress in this movie, looked stunning wearing a Versace Spring 2009 white silk one-shoulder gown with a heart shaped and zipper detailing on the bodice.

The gown was paired with nude leather zipper sandals, a metallic gold paillette clutch and Versace Fine jewelry.

Her hair was elegant styled into a chic updo and I would say the look was head-to-toe perfect, but the heart detail on her dress looks a bit crushed, but it’s always difficult to achieve runway perfection.

I’m not sure who’s idea it was to sex up little Miss Rossum, but I like it.

Earlier this week we saw Emmy Rossum wearing a black structured Ungaro dress, and for this premiere we get more of the same.  An edgy urban look via this Phi Fall 2009 high-neck dress with a paisley print and exposed zipper.

It kinda has a biker feel to it don’t you think?

I’m glad she opted out of the long leather gloves, the tights, and the belt, but I would have loved her to have worn her hair in a slick back tight pony.

Here is a first red carpet look of Ciara’s new shorter do.

Personally I don’t like it. Mostly because it feels like a quick reaction to Rihanna’s recent crop.

The singer wore black leather skinny pants with a gold sequined Gryphon racer back tank top.

I’m not quite sure what’s going on here, but I know it don’t like it.

Kim Kardashian opted for a strange Proenza Schouler T-shirt bustier dress which looks like she has a black tee shirt under a white strapless dress.

The dress is paired with a YSL cage belt and YSL trib two heels, but even they can’t save this look.

Kim’s make-up is usually flawless, but on this occasion I can’t say I love it.

Aces & Angels Celebrity Poker Party

Khloe Kardashian does a complete 180 from last week and arrives at this event looking gorgeous wearing a blue Lalia Azhar one shoulder twist dress.

The indigo blue silk jersey figure-enhancing drape dress emphasizes her curves whilst the twisted detail at the waist smooths over her stomach.

Her look was complete with beige Christian Louboutin Differa sandals and a snake skin clutch.

Love the hair an make-up. Great look all-round.

Sister Kim Kardashian also looked fabulous wearing a Topshop Cosmic black body-con dress with round neckline, full-length sleeves with peaked shoulders.

I may not have liked this look if it weren’t for the silver choker and the interesting peaked shoulders.

This look could have easily gone very wrong, but for me Kim doesn’t look trashy. I’m sure some of you may disagree.

Kim completed her look with a Christian Louboutin Pharaon clutch.

Kourtney Kardashian’s silver lame gown feels a bit to formal for an event held at the Playboy Mansion.

I’m sure she was the most overdressed person who attended.

23.06.09 Premiere

“Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” LA Premiere

After her Donna Karan gown, I thought that Megan Fox couldn’t out do herself, then she arrived on the red carpet last night looking better then ever.

Her white jersey Kaufman Franco gown is incredibly sophisticated and sexy, something Megan has struggled to find in equal balance since her Donna Karan gown.

For me this is her best look yet.

For once I don’t feel like she is trying to hard. She’s not even over pouting. If you have seen the movie you know what I’m talking about.

Definitely a Best Dressed Of The Week candidate.

Isabel Lucas opted for a cute chiffon lemon cocktail vintage Chanel Haute Couture dress covered in silver embellishments.

Her silver accessories complemented her dress including Lanvin pointy pumps and a Fendi clutch, and her 3 tone hair was styled with loose waves.

Kristin Cavallari was my second favourite at this event wearing a fuschia pink Zac Posen asymmetrical dress which I had on my favourites last week.

What I love about this dress, with its one capped sleeve and one strapped sleeve, is the structure along with the vivid colour.

I’m glad she pulled her hair back so we could see the asymmetrical neckline.

Her look was paired with nude Dolce Vita Cajun gladiator sandals and a black clutch.

Taylor Momsen seems to have grown out of her Debbie Harry phase, as she not wearing the extreme heavy make-up and leathers.

Instead she opted for a slightly softer look wearing an ivory bustier Dolce & Gabbana dress with black lace-up sandals, finishing her look with smoky eyes and a Crucifix necklace.

She’s young and still experimenting so I’m sure we will be introduced to many more looks from Taylor.

We’re more used to seeing Aubrey O’Day half naked or spilling out of her clothes so this is a great look for her.

She also picked a bright summery colour wearing a cobalt blue Temperley London Eclipse Glade dress, with silver Louboutin sandals with complemented the gem-embellished detail on her shoulder.

For once she’s impressed me but I don’t expect this kind of look from her again.

Ciara on the other hand didn’t impress me.

What a lazy boring attempt.

Tie-dye jeans are becoming a bit stale and the visible bra is my number 2 pet-peeve after tights.

My number 3 pet-peeve is two tone or more hair. Ciara was just not out to impress last night.

Just as I suspected Kim Kardashian had just pinned up her luscious locks for the MuchMusic Awards and hadn’t cut it thankfully.

The reality star arrived on the red carpet wearing a sleeveless tuxedo dress which had a deep plunge.

Stella McCartney heels completed the look and her make-up was much better.
