Best Dressed Teen 2014 – Kiernan Shipka

Best Dressed Teen 2014 – Kiernan Shipka

For the second year in the row, Kiernan Shipka was voted your best dressed teen.

The style-setting ‘Mad Men’ actress has continued to impress with her age-appropriate yet directional red-carpet selections. She’s a fashion girl in the making, and she will no doubt continue setting the bar for all fellow starlets.

Never afraid to go for bold, she’ll wear bright colours, daring prints, and statement-making silhouettes, deftly trotting out everything from rainbow lace to whimsical embroidery and flower-power patterns by leading labels the likes of Valentino, Christian Dior, and Mary Katrantzou.

The one common thread among all her outings is that they are absolutely adorable yet never toothache-sweet.

One of my favourite looks from Kiernan was her pink Marni embellished, peplum frock at the MuchMusic Awards, popped with a mint-green clutch.

In fact, that’s the beauty of Kiernan’s style; she dresses from head to toe, always ensuring every handbag, shoe (even a lemon-hued pump!) and accessory is a thoughtful and punchy addition.

Runner Up: Elle Fanning

Kiernan Shipka In Mary Katrantzou - 'TrevorLIVE LA' For The Trevor Project

Kiernan Shipka attended the ‘TrevorLIVE LA’ event for The Trevor Project held at the Hollywood Palladium on Sunday (December 7) in Los Angeles, California.

When it comes to her red carpet look, nothing has changed; she’s still adorable, event appropriate and stylish wearing a Mary Katrantzou Spring 2015 frock.

I just love the contemporary spin on a classic silhouette, with red and navy floral embroidery on black fabric lending this piece a molten edge, while the box pleats make it stand out elegantly.

Black strappy sandals and a silver Edie Parker clutch completed her look.

Kiernan Shipka In Valentino - Hamilton Behind The Camera Awards

Kiernan Shipka attended the Hamilton Behind The Camera Awards held at The Wilshire Ebell Theatre on Sunday (November 9) in Los Angeles, California.

As you know, the young actress is one of my favourites, but sadly, and for the first time in history, I couldn’t get behind this look.

The high neckline is too stuffy, and even as a print lover, there is way too much going on with this Valentino Resort 2015 frock – it’s almost an assault on the eyes.

I kinda see what she was going for, but even someone with her commanding presence couldn’t sell this to me.

This needed to stay on the pages of a look book.

Do you agree?

Kiernan Shipka attended Erin Kleinberg’s Apres Surf Girls event held at Sofitel LA on Thursday (October 16) in Los Angeles, California.

She brought girlish charm to the forefront wearing a Tory Burch dress rendered with a print of artful flowers adding romantic appeal to this ultra-feminine frock.

The youthful overture was further compounded by the stylish red Chloe ‘Marcie’ shoulder bag, with a ladylike flourish coming via her silver Tory Burch ‘Keri’ sandals.

The Hammer Museum’s 12th Annual ‘Gala In The Garden’

The Hammer Museum's 12th Annual Gala In The Garden

The Hammer Museum’s 12th annual ‘Gala in the Garden’ was held on Saturday (October 11) in Westwood, California in association with Bottega Veneta, where the stars were draped in the Italian brand’s finest pieces.

Dianna Agron: The ‘Glee’ actress continued to showcase her sartorial style wearing a black and nude patterned dress from Bottega Veneta’s Resort 2015 collection. Oozing with elegance and femininity, she styled her dress with the brand’s signature woven clutch. I have found myself hypnotized by Dianna at the moment. Whoever is doing her makeup and making her glow so radiantly is doing a fine job.

January Jones: No surprises that January stood out; she’s never one to blend into the background. The ‘Mad Men’ actress wore an intentionally imperfect vibrant strapless Bottega Veneta patchwork Pre-Fall 2014 dress defined by a hot-pink jacquard, macramé lace, and a metallic coating. Like Dianna, she carried a woven clutch, with Stuart Weitzman ‘Nudist’ sandals providing the finishing touches. Needless to say, she was by far my favourite at this event.

Emmy Rossum: Also carrying a Bottega Veneta woven clutch, the ‘Shameless’ actress looked as lovely as ever wearing a Bottega Veneta Pre-Fall 2014 V-neck black and nude gown shimmering with metallic-gold panels. Like Dianna, she’s glowing.

Kiernan Shipka In Chris Gelinas - People's 'Ones To Watch' Event

Kiernan Shipka attended People’s ‘Ones To Watch’ event held at The Line on Thursday (October 9) in Los Angeles, California.

The actress wore a Chris Gelinas Spring 2014 dress printed with a honeycomb and poppy pattern.

I love how the prim flounced silhouette has many fun, feminine elements, which she styled with metallic sandals to bring the look right up to date.

Get The Look: Kiernan Shipka’s Soft Wavy Tresses

Michael Kors Celebrates The Launch Of Claiborne Swanson Frank's "Young Hollywood" Portrait BookCelebrity hairstylist Bridget Brager worked with Kiernan Shipka to achieve the soft wavy tresses she sported while attending Claiborne Swanson Frank’s ‘Young Hollywood’ book launch hosted by Michael Kors on Thursday.

Sharing her beauty inspiration, Bridget said “Kiernan’s look was inspired by her beautiful Michael Kors dress. We opted for soft waves and shine.”

Bridget started by applying Kerastase Mousse Bouffante Luxurious Volumizing Mousse from roots to ends. Then she rough dried the hair until it was 85% dry and used a large round brush to smooth the hair until it was completely dry. For a quick and beautiful blow out, rough drying hair allows natural texture and volume to come out. Once you have a good foundation, using a round boar-bristle brush skinnies and smoothes the hair down and brings it together, which allows shine to come to the surface.

Next she sectioned out Kiernan’s bangs and used a large velcro roller, rolling the bangs back and away from the face for a swoopy soft bang effect, and secured with a duck-bill clip.

Using a 1.25 Inch T3 curling iron, she wrapped 1 inch sections of hair vertically, starting at the mid-shaft of each section and moving back towards the face, making sure to curl the ends. Once all the hair was set and cooled, she softened the waves by brushing them out. Then she used Kerastase Short Mania Semi-Matte Sculpting Paste and scrunched it into the hair for texture and light hold.

After brushing the bangs into place, Bridget finished the look with an all-over mist of Oribe Superfine Hairspray.
