Jessica Chastain In Armani Privé – 2012 Independent Spirit Awards

I’m not sure Jessica Chastain got the dress code memo for the 2012 Independent Spirit Awards, held on Saturday evening in Santa Monica, California.

Instead of going for a relaxed look like the other attendees at this beachside event, she wore an Armani Privé Spring 2012 skirt suit.

The black suit with lime piping feels way too formal.

It would’ve been great for a photocall or press conference, but I’m not excited about it on this occasion.

A simple updo and black strappy sandals completed her look.

Michelle Williams In Louis Vuitton – 2012 Independent Spirit Awards

Michelle Williams was triumphant at the 2012 Independent Spirit Awards, held on Saturday evening in Santa Monica, California, as she took home the ‘Best Female Lead’ award for her role as Marilyn Monroe in ‘My Week with Marilyn’.

She opted to wear a Louis Vuitton Pre-Fall 2012 ensemble.

I know many of you are pulling your hair out every time you see Michelle wearing black-and-white, so how do you feel about navy-and-white?

Whilst Michelle does look good in her navy short suit, the look is not as fun as I was hoping would be for this event.

As presented, the look feels very ‘first day back at school’ with the buttoned up blazer.

The only thing missing is a Cambridge satchel to give this look a real school uniform vibe, but she opted for an Olympia Le-Tan ‘The Catcher in the Rye’ embroidered clutch.

Lucy Liu In Roberto Cavalli – 2012 Independent Spirit Awards

I am usually Lucy Liu’s biggest supporter, but I wasn’t too crazy about her look at the 2012 Independent Spirit Awards, held in Santa Monica, California this evening.

Her Roberto Cavalli Resort 2012 dress is cute and playful, but I don’t like the white part of this look.

Had this halter dress just had a black skirt or a black and leopard skirt, I would’ve loved it.

A simple ponytail, a black Roger Vivier clutch and gold earrings accessories her look.

What do love, however, is her Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Jem’ sculptured wedges which totally upstaged her dress.

This is why I love Lucy. She always gives me something to drool over.

You can buy Lucy’s Giuseppe Zanotti wedges from Luisa Via Roma.

Anna Kendrick In McQ Alexander McQueen – 2012 Independent Spirit Awards

Anna Kendrick broke out of her snoozeville phase at the 2012 Independent Spirit Awards, held in Santa Monica, California this evening.

The ‘Twilight’ actress wore a McQ by Alexander McQueen Pre- Fall 2012 dress.

Her cute strapless paisley printed dress with a full skirt and black leather detailing around the waist, which teamed with a Brian Atwood ‘Honey’ cut out and peep-toes which are to-die-for, although I don’t think I could walk too far in those pin heels.

A Kelly Wearstler pleated clutch with a jewel box enclosure, wavy locks and a pink lip colour completed her look.

Kirsten Dunst In Dolce & Gabbana – 2012 Independent Spirit Awards

Kirsten Dunst also attended the 2012 Independent Spirit Awards, taking place in Santa Monica tonight.

The ‘Melancholia’ actress chose tailored basics, including a white Dolce & Gabbana blazer and contrasting black mini dress.

The simple look was amped up with quirky accessories – most notably, black-and-white floral wedges plus a yellow clutch which adds a bright pop of colour to this simple look.

Are you a fan of Kirsten’s styling, or do you wish that she’d opted for classic accessories?

Elizabeth Olsen In Antonio Berardi – 2012 Independent Spirit Awards

Elizabeth Olsen attended the 2012 Independent Spirit Awards in Santa Monica, California this evening.

The ‘Best Female Lead’ nominee was a vision in white, wearing an Antonio Berardi Pre-Fall 2012 dress.

Her white sheath dress with floral crystal overlay was one of, if not the, best look of the night.

We’ve seen Elizabeth dabble in minimal before, most notably in looks from The Row, but this comes with added sparkle.

Cesare Paciotti shoes, an Edie Parker clutch, Joan Hornig earrings, and Melissa Maria rings accessorize the look.

Rashida Jones In Oscar de la Renta – 2012 Independent Spirit Awards

No one could miss Rashida Jones at the 2012 Independent Spirit Awards held on Saturday in Santa Monica.

The ‘Parks & Recreation’ actress chose a vibrant ocean cotton silk degrade leaf print dress, courtesy of Oscar de la Renta’s Pre-Fall 2012 collection.

Rashida wisely toned down the dress with minimal accessories plus going sans belt keeps the look youthful.

Black Roger Vivier ‘Bow Chic’ sandals with subtle blue straps are all that she needs.

I love the pockets of this dress – such a perfect, fun touch to this classic Oscar dress.

Zoe Saldana In Balmain – 2012 Independent Spirit Awards

There is no better red carpet to rock a floral Balmain dress than at the Independent Spirit Awards, and there is no better person to rock that dress than Zoe Saldana.

The actress kindly demonstrated just how it’s done at this year’s ceremony, held in Santa Monica, California this evening.

Zoe opted for this sweet, colourful print Balmain Spring 2012 mini dress which features structured shoulders, a metallic gold print and a jagged edged open back for an unexpected touch.

Nude Brian Atwood peep-toes elongate Zoe’s legs and perfectly complement the dress, but at this point nude pumps are starting to go the same way as the black pumps…unimaginative and uninspiring.

Nonetheless Zoe, as always, is perfection here and I’m glad she didn’t opt for the belt.

Shailene Woodley In Christopher Kane – 2012 Independent Spirit Awards

‘Best Supporting Female’ winner, Shailene Woodley, walked the red carpet at the 2012 Independent Spirit Awards in Santa Monica, California on Saturday evening, before accepting her award later in the night.

Shailene went for a casual chic look pairing black skinnies with in Christopher Kane Spring 2012 gold and pink embellished floral top.

Gold capped Louboutin ‘Duvette’ pumps add a touch of glam, although she quickly slipped into black flats after walking the red carpet.

A sleek ponytail and barely-there, if any, makeup completes the look.

I love how she got the tone and mood of this event totally right with this look.
