Sienna Miller In Burberry – 2013 Met Gala

Sienna Miller paid homage to both the age of punk and her British roots in Burberry at Monday’s Met Gala at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art.

The actress took the punk theme quite literally with a white-hot gown topped with a gold-studdeded cropped leather jacket.

Sienna’s wavy, slightly bedhead-like hair was elevated to a more ‘done’ place with a spiked headband that matched her ear cuff.

Overall, I’m a big fan of Sienna’s look, though I do wish it were a bit more punk-glam for the major annual gala.

Naomie Harris In Donna Karan Atelier – 2013 Met Gala

Bond girl Naomie Harris was an ultra-violet vision at the 2013 Met Gala at New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Forget ’50 Shades of Grey,’ the ‘Skyfall’ actress explored the many sides of purple with this brilliantly colour-saturated Donna Karan Atelier gown with an Edie Parker clutch.

The top half of the dress was standard glamour with its draped lines. But the rows and rows of feathered frou that floated down from the waist to the long train added a slightly less conventional flair.

Still, with Naomie’s radiant but safe hair and makeup, it was one of the less punk-like moments on the red carpet.

Not that I’m complaining.

Emily Blunt In Carolina Herrera – 2013 Met Gala

Emily Blunt went the route of all black for Monday’s punk-themed Met Gala in New York.

The actress wore a gown by Carolina Herrera.

The all black-ensemble proved it’s all in the details with a slit, key hole cutout, and buttons down the front of the dress.

Emily kept her makeup simple aside from a swipe of hot pink on her eyelids and a braided topknot style for her locks.

I’m a big fan of Emily’s sartorial choices but this look is not my favorite. I imagine Met Gala styles to be more exciting and over the top than this beautiful, but simple design.

Anne Hathaway In Valentino – 2013 Met Gala

Showing us that blondes really do have more fun, Anne Hathaway took her pixie cut up a notch with a new platinum colour at the 2013 Met Gala in New York. Apparently, she was inspired by punk-goddess Debbie Harry of Blondie.

So Nicole Richie wasn’t the only one with a brave new hair hue on Monday.

The ‘Les Miserables’ actress completely surrendered to the evening’s punk theme, flaunting a surprising exhibitionist side with this Valentino Couture embellished vintage gown, accented with feathered cuffs.

The ziggy-zaggy beading of the too-sheer black dress did precious little to cover her curves. So she certainly brought the sexy, shock side of punk to the gala.

A Valentino Noir Lucite clutch and a bright yellow manicure completed the look.

I have to say, after a few underwhelming red-carpet moments this year, there is something about this devil-may-care, bad-girl side of Anne that is rather intriguing.

Michelle Dockery In Burberry – 2013 Met Gala

Michelle Dockery walked the famous red carpet stairs at the Met Gala in New York on Monday.

The ‘Downton Abbey’ actress wore a Burberry sheath dress.

I love this look: the inky hue and croc-embossed texture is perfection in a classic cut and topped with a mega statement necklace.

While it doesn’t read ‘punk’ to me at all, it’s one of my top styles of the night. Classic-meets-edgy, and all around beutiful.

Marion Cotillard In Christian Dior Couture – 2013 Met Gala

French beauty Marion Cotillard wore head to toe Christian Dior with Chopard jewels to the Met Gala.

Her asymmetrically hemmed Spring 2013 gown is a fun choice with its peek-a-boo yellow lining and monochromatic nudes, but it doesn’t feel quite right for the Met Ball. I’m thinking this would be much more appropriate at a slightly less formal event.

I do love that she paired these houndstooth ankle-strapped pumps with this dress–an unexpected combination, and a definite pop of punk–but it still doesn’t quite scream Met Ball to me.

Marion’s barely there makeup and 40s-inspired curls are the perfect compliment for this look, but I’m still feeling underwhelmed. Especially after seeing the other Dior-adorned star at tonight’s event.
