Keira Knightley for The EDIT

unnamed

Keira Knightley talks about Hollywood’s double standards, leaving fairytales behind, and embracing the aging process in The EDIT, Net-A-Porter’s weekly fashion glossy.

In her editorial you see the ‘Laggies’ actress wearing shop-right-now looks from Valentino – naturally – Dolce & Gabbana, Delpozo, Erdem and Alexander McQueen.

Here are some extracts from her interview. You can read the full interview over at The EDIT.

On advocating for gender equality in Hollywood: “The people who make movies, whether it’s directors or producers, or money people, look for things that they can identify with and if they’re all predominantly middle-aged white men, then what you see are things that middle-aged white men can identify with. And you don’t get anything for anybody else.”

On given up on fairytales because women do not need men to come to their rescue: “A friend of mine just had a daughter. It’s a political thing, having a baby girl, in a way that it isn’t for a boy. You think, ‘Oh isn’t this fairy-tale lovely?’ Then suddenly you worry, ‘What am I planting with that? I don’t want her to be waiting around for a man to fix her problems.’ Maybe it’s a bit silly, but because equality is going so hugely the other way, I think it probably does take being silly to try and swing it back around.”

With regards to the future, Keira is ready to take anything that comes with her trademark poise. Unlike her childlike character who struggles with getting older in the upcoming film ‘Laggies’, Keira is embracing it, even if she is not quite sure what “grown-up” is meant to feel like. While Keira admits to not having all of the answers, she is looking forward to trying to find them.

Keira Knightley In Alessandra Rich – Mario Testino’s Birthday Party

Keira Knightley In Alessandra Rich - Mario Testino's Birthday Party

Keira Knightley attended Mario Testino’s birthday party held at the Chiltern Firehouse on Wednesday (October 29) in London, England.

The actress wore a vintage-inspired Alessandra Rich Spring 2015 cold-shoulder pleated button-down white dress, which evoked old Hollywood glamour. I can picture a young Liz Taylor wearing this look with over-sized shades, a wide-brimmed hat and of course a selection of Bulgari jewels.

Back to Keira, even with the Burberry trench obscuring a portion of the beautiful dress, I still feel the look is better presented with the belt, which adds an elegant flourish.

The rest of her styling consisted of complementary gold Prada pumps and a Chanel purse rounding out her look.

Who Wore Chanel Better…Keira Knightley or Astrid Berges-Frisbey?

Who Wore Chanel Better Keira Knightley or Astrid Berges-Frisbey

Keira Knightley wore a vintage Chanel navy dress with white trims including bow detailing to the Los Angeles premiere of ‘Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit’ back in January.

While hardly an exciting choice for an LA premiere, this ladylike look did suit Keira to a tee.

Fellow Chanel ambassador Astrid Berges-Frisbey wore the same dress during Deauville American Film Festival in September for the ‘I Origins’ Photocall.

Sadly, her styling fails to impress. The shoes give the look a matronly feel, the necklace overcooks the look and I am missing the second bow at the waist.

Keira wins this for her more favourable styling.

Keira Knightley In Michael Van Der Ham – May Fair Hotel

Keira Knightley In Michael Van Der Ham - May Fair Hotel

Keira Knightley was spotted making her way to the May Fair Hotel in London on Saturday (October 11).

The actress, who you crowned best dressed last week, wore a delicate Michael Van Der Ham Spring 2015 spaghetti-strap frock comprised of a medley of fabrics giving it a striped effect.

I love how pretty the dress is, plus the underlying feel of deconstructed cool about it, which is further punctuated by the leather Burberry jacket she styled with the look.

Green pumps – when grey or black would’ve been more predictable – rounded out her look, which for once didn’t include a collar.

Best Dressed Of The Week – Keira Knightley In Valentino Couture, Kaitlyn Dever In Andrew Gn & James Marsden In Thom Sweeney

Best Dressed Of The Week - Keira Knightley In Valentino Couture, Kaitlyn Dever In Andrew Gn & James Marsden In Thom Sweeney

It was a close call but Keira Knightley was your best dressed this week wearing a tiered lace Valentino Couture gown in what turned out to be a very strong week.

I had narrowed my favourites down to three, eventually selecting the newbie in the most vibrant sunshine gown: Kaitlyn Dever in Andrew Gn.

As you know, I am a sucker for colour and print, plus she looked so damn adorable, so some might not be surprised by my selection.

When it came to the fellas, James Marsden in Thom Sweeney was the clear winner.
