Kate Waterhouse In Givenchy & Christopher Kane - Westfield Autumn Winter 2013 Launch

Kate Waterhouse attended the Westfield Autumn/Winter 2013 launch at Pelicano Bar in Sydney, Australia yesterday afternoon.

For those who don’t know much about Kate, the best person I can liken her to is Olivia Palermo, except Kate does have a job: as a journalist for The Sun Herald.

After a few disappointing looks, she fares much better in this not so try-hard look.

The journalist/fashionista wore a Givenchy Resort 2013 paisley-print t-shirt with solid-white sleeves, which she styled with a Christopher Kane Spring 2013 skirt.

The charming embossed leather skirt infuses a lot of attitude into her look, with a simple cuff and simple sandals blending in nicely without being too bold.

Her hair was left to its own devices, with shimmering lip colour and a dark-berry mani and pedi completing the look.

This look appeals to me as it doesn’t feel too contrived.

Does it appeal to you, or is she still trying too hard in your eyes?

Kate Waterhouse was out on the circuit again today for the VRC Oaks Club Luncheon held at the Crown Palladium in Melbourne, Australia, earlier today.

The fashion editor wore an Ellery Resort 2012 dress on this occasion.

You’d be forgiven if you thought this oxblood high-neck dress with oversized sleeves was by Lanvin.

I think I would have to question Kate’s credentials once again; I mean, who would wear a dress with such voluminous shoulders with their hair down?

Surely a tight bun or even a ponytail was required with this look.

Jumping on the floral garland headpiece trend which has surprisingly taken off in the last two days, I have to say her choice of headwear, once again, looks ridiculous.

What should be coming naturally for a fashion editor is feeling forced and coming across like she’s trying too hard, à la Lara Bingle, which is a huge disappointment considering she is known for having impeccable style.

Black Ferragamo lace-up sandals completed her look.

There was yet another ridiculous hat on the red carpet at the Melbourne Cup held at Flemington Racecourse in Melbourne, Australia earlier today.

Kate Waterhouse’s beautiful face was totally obscured by her lilac veil with a ribbon accent.

On the plus side the veil matched her Gucci Resort 2013 shift dress which had an ornate floral necklace and tonal buttons going down the side.

The fashion editor of The Sun-Herald spent so much time and effort on her dress and hat, that she forgot to pay close attention to her shoes which pale in comparison with the rest of the look.

Once again she fails to impress on her playground.

Kate Waterhouse is part of Australia’s racing royalty, as she’s the daughter of leading thoroughbred trainer Gai Waterhouse and granddaughter of racing legend Tommy “TJ” Smith, so at the Caulfield Cup Day at Caulfield Racecourse in Melbourne, Australia on Saturday Kate would’ve been in her element.

She is also the fashion editor of The Sun-Herald, so I’m a little surprised she hadn’t done her homework and discovered that this Burberry Prorsum Fall 2012 look has been done to death.

Emma Stone was the first to get her hands on this mustard and blue striped top with an aqua beaded neckline, followed by Giorgia Surina.

Nieves Alvarez wore the same top with a similar skirt on her Solo Moda show and Yoon Eun Hye wore the satin skirt back in August.

Rerun overload aside, she totally over accessorized her look.

The sandals and the Burberry clutch are OK, but the brown suede bow accented belt and leather studded headband were two steps too far.

This whole look needed a rethink.

Kate Waterhouse attended the 30 Days of Fashion & Beauty Launch at the Sydney Town Hall in Sydney, Australia, earlier today.

The socialite/Style and Fashion Editor for the Sun Herald opted for a Gucci Fall 2012 dress.

When you think Gucci, you don’t necessary think risqué, but Kate’s wine sheer silk dress with a deep back V-neck leaves little to the imagination up top.

Despite the floral embroidered details covering most of the dress, we can clearly note that Kate isn’t wearing a bra.

Does this put you off this look, or do you feel a little exposure never killed anyone?

A slicked-back bun, silver jewels and black ankle-strap sandals completed her look.

Rosemount Australian Fashion Week kicked off in Sydney, Australia earlier today.

Australian socialite Kate Waterhouse attended the Bec & Bridge and the Zimmermann presentations wearing a head-to-toe Miu Miu Spring 2011 look.

Her red satin dress with a pleated skirt, was accented with a neon yellow belt and teamed with the same tri-colour Miu Miu heels we saw presented on the runway.

I really like this look, but it would’ve been more interesting had Kate styled this look in a different way.

When it comes accessorizing, no socialite does it better than Olivia Palermo.
